The duo arrived at the old orphanage and stepped out of their car. They drew their guns and leaned against the outer wall.

William pushed the door open and they aimed their weapons into the building. "I'll take point," he said.

Scarlett nodded as they cautiously walked down the hallway. She noticed the broken glass in the living room and tugged on William's shirt.

"What?" he winced as his voice reverberated in the empty hallway and saw the scattered pieces of glass.

"Relax, Will," Scarlett said. "He already knows we're here."

"Yeah, but-"

"There's no point in trying to ambush him if he already knew we were coming."

"Fine," William said. "Shattered glass, destroyed frames. Whoever were in those pictures must've ticked him off."

"Either way," Scarlett walked past him and up the stairs. "No point in checking there."

"Worst case scenario is getting glass stuck on the bottom of-"

"Get up here," Scarlett interrupted him as she saw the ladder leading to the attic down.

William rushed up the stairs. "Only place he could've gone to."

"Let's hope he didn't just lead us here to throw us off his trail," Scarlett said as she climbed the ladder, William close behind.

The moonlight shone through the window, partially blocked as it cast a long shadow from the table to the floor before them.

"This attic is huge." William looked around curiously.

"Alex?" Scarlett called out as she raised her weapon. "I don't want to do this, but you've left us no other choice."

Alexander puffed out a ring of smoke and flicked his cigarette to the side. "No choice? I gave you both so many choices, so many chances that neither of you had any idea." He picked up his gun and cocked it back.

"Drop your weapon!" William demanded as he aimed his gun. "Now."

"So rash and still so young." Alexander fired his gun at William as he and Scarlett took cover behind some crates.

"Shoot," William said.

"What? Were you hit?" Scarlett asked worriedly.

"Don't worry, it only grazed my arm. I'm still able to fight."

"That was only a warning, Wolfgang," Alexander said.

"Why are you doing this, Alex?!" Scarlett yelled. "I never thought you'd be the one to ever deceive me."

"Why? Our clans: The Wolves, Red Hoods, Huntsmen. There was always this old feud," Alexander said. "Our ancestors weren't always so friendly with one another. A Huntsman, my ancestor was attacked by a member of the Wolf Clan. They were heavily wounded, so they crawled back to the Red Hood they were guiding, protecting. What happened then? The Red Hood killed the Huntsman with the help of a Wolf." He stood up from his chair. "Don't take it so personally, Red. I killed Volkov because it was her bloodline, a Wolf, that helped end the life of a Huntsman."

"This is the twenty-first century," William said. "Let it go! That has nothing to do with us. The damage back then has already been dealt and now look! You don't even know the whole story!"

"What do you even know, Wolf?" Alexander glared.

"The reason that Huntsman died was because they killed that Wolf's entire family! It was for vengeance. This is a never-ending cycle!" William yelled.

"A fibber as always," Alexander picked up a photograph. "Wolfgang, you were raised in this orphanage, weren't you?"

William's eyes widened. "I never mentioned where I was raised once. How'd-"

"Volkov kept some old photo albums," Alexander said. "You were such a young lad. It's a shame you were born into the wrong clan."

"You're letting all of this go to your head, old man!" William shouted.

Alexander burned the photograph with the candle's flames. "I will watch this entire city burn and the people with it." He kicked the table to the side, knocking over the lit candle to the wooden floor. "What about you, Red? Are you going to fight or will you walk away like the rest of your red hooded traitors? You're afraid of me, so how long will you continue to hide that face of yours?" He sighed. "It's still not too late for you to return to the light. I'll continue to guide you like I always had."

"Scarlett, don't fall for it," William said as he looked at her.

"I shouldn't be afraid of the darkness anymore," Scarlett said.

William tried to reach out to her, but Alexander fired his gun once more and hit the corner of the crate.

"We'll do this together, Will," Scarlett said. "No matter what happens, we'll always be partners."

William nodded. "To the very end." They moved from their cover and fired their guns at the same time.

The bullets flew through the air as if they were in a dance and pierced through the wooden table. Alexander fired back several rounds as the duo hid behind cover once more.

"I followed your guidance for years, Alex!" Scarlett yelled and peeked around the crate. She spotted a red liquid creeping across the wooden floor. "How much longer can you stand the pain? Will you still fight even when this building, your clan, and everything burn down because of you?"

"You're still a little girl who doesn't know any better!" Alexander screamed. "I've taught you everything you know and yet it's still not enough! It's only a matter of time before you're the last Red Hood in this city."

Scarlett took a few steps back.

"What do you think you're doing?" William asked. "Have you gone mad?"

"More than just mad... I'm furious." Scarlett ran forward and vaulted over the crates. She fired her gun repeatedly toward Alexander as he fired back.

Several bullets grazed Scarlett but she kept going. She fired one more bullet and hit Alexander's gun out of his hands. He tried to reach it but was stopped by Scarlett when she stomped her boot on his wrist. William quickly caught up and aimed his gun down at the fallen Huntsman.

"Eleven years ago, you promised to show me a world that I've never seen before," Scarlett said. "Looking at everything now, it's just a broken promise. Now I know the light, your guidance, wasn't so truthful."

"Look at how much you've grown," Alexander said as he coughed up blood. "You would've become such a fine Huntsman."

"That's where you're wrong, Alex," Scarlett said. "I was never a Huntsman and I'm certainly not a Wolf either. I'm one of the Red Hoods, from birth to death. This won't be the end of me, but it's time for your ending." She pointed her gun down at him.

"I guess so." Alexander sighed. "I never thought I'd be so afraid of my own pupil surpassing me as well. Go ahead and end it all. It won't change the fact that you'll be the last Red Hood to ever exist."

"She won't be the last one," William said.

"How are you so sure, Wolf?" Alexander asked as he clutched his wounded side.

"Because I'll join the Red Hoods," William said. "I won't let her be the last one. Not every person in any of the clans is blood-related."

Alexander looked up at Scarlett. "Consider yourself lucky for that. If you kill me, you'll be no different from any Huntsman throughout history."

"No," Scarlett said. "I'll still be different no matter what you say. I won't be running away from my problems; instead, I'll face them and win. I'm one of the Red Hoods and you can't change that in this life or the next." She pulled the trigger, sending a bullet between Alexander's eyes.

Several hours later, William woke up in their car and saw Scarlett talking on the phone.

"That's right," She said. "The culprit is dead and justice was brought. I already left everything about the case onto your desk, Ms. White. Take care of the twins." She hung up.

"The mayor again?" William asked. "What'd she say?"

"Hunter Investigations will be shutting down for good and the orphanage was burned down. They're looking into it and the mayor insisted on revealing the information of the case publicly," Scarlett said. "But I told her just to announce that the culprit, Alexander Chase, is dead."

"What do we do now?" William asked. "We're pretty much out of jobs."

Scarlett dialed a number on her phone. "I know just who to call. Also, I found these two pages stuck together." She passed Ms. Volkov's old book to William and opened the page to it.

"This isn't just a fairytale," William said. "It's history. The Huntsman returned to meet Little Red but was greeted by a valiant wolf and grown-up Red Hood instead. The wolf already told Red what the Huntsman had done and tried to sever their bond. Out of anger, Red and the Wolf ended the Huntsman's life." He closed the book. "Sounds like history repeated itself."

"Crazy how accurate it is," Scarlett said. "Hopefully, our archeologist friends will pick up the phone."

"Say, what did you tell the Mayor to call the case?" William asked.

Scarlett looked at him and smiled. "Little Red Murder."
