"What's got you so smiley, E?" Jack asks, plopping down beside me on the sofa in his and Lilly's shared apartment, throwing his arm over my shoulder affectionately. Lilly is somewhere in the kitchen making a mess with baking supplies, kicking Jack out a few minutes ago after he kept eating her ingredients.

At the presence of the younger boy, I drop my phone onto my lap as if I'd been caught looking at something I wasn't supposed to be looking at. "Can't a girl be happy hanging out with her best friends?" I ask Jack, mocking offence.

"Sure, but you've been miserable all week," Lilly calls from somewhere in the kitchen, listening in on our conversation. A few seconds later, she walks out, carrying a handful of chocolate chips, which she hands to Jack, a silent apology for kicking him out of the kitchen. I can't help but smile at her small display of affection.

Before I can respond to Lilly, Jack begins speaking, a smirk on his lips as the words fall past them, "Speaking of Jamie."

By the glance shared between Jack and Lilly, I can tell they've been looking for a subtle way to bring him up. Jack looks insanely proud of himself, while Lilly shakes her head, knowing subtly has never been one of her boyfriend's strong suits. "We weren't speaking about Jamie?" I say, tone questioning them.

    "Well, now we are."

"Besides," Lilly takes a seat on the other side of me, knocking her leg against mine, her brows wiggling in my direction, "you were thinking about him. Weren't you?"

     "How do you know?"

I'm sure my cheeks are bright pink, on fire by their scarily accurate accusation, "You're always thinking about Jamie." Jack informs me like he knows my own mind better than I do, "and you've been kind of..." he pauses, trying to find the right word, "pouty this week. Until now, that is when Jamie posted that photo of you."

"I was just smiling at the comments," I say, still not being 100% truthful, "all the fans thinking we're back together... it's funny."

Beside me, Lilly sighs, loud enough to capture both mine and Jack's gazes. I know this expression all too well; Lilly is tired of beating around the bush and subtly trying to gauge what's going on in my mind, "And you're happy?" She questions, "With just being friends with him? You don't love him anymore?" She sounds almost sad, like a little girl whose parents are getting divorced.

"Of course, I love him," I shake my head, tone defensive, "I don't think I'll ever love anyone the way I love Jamie; he's different. We're different." My heart sinks as my gaze drops to my lap, the photo Jamie posted of me still displayed on my screen, "being friends works for us, and Jamie seems happy with it, so-"

"You think Jamie is happy with being your friend?" Jack cuts me off, scoffing, "Of course he's happy you're back in his life, but there's no way he's content like this, and clearly, you're not either. I don't get why you're giving up on you guys."

"Yeah," Lilly nods, agreeing with her boyfriend. "I'd never give up on a guy if he made me a documentary like the one Jamie made for you.'

Jack nods in agreement with her while my brows furrow in confusion, trying to recall what the hell she's talking about. I saw his documentary, the one he made of the avatar cast over the years of filming and then at the premiere, and while I was featured in it slightly, it was definitely not made for me.

    "What documentary?"

Both Lilly's and Jacks's expressions fall as if realizing they've just admitted something to me that I wasn't supposed to know about, "did you guys hear that?" Lilly asks, standing; there had been no noise. "I think that was the oven. I'm gonna go-"

Before she can walk away, I grab her rest, forcing her to turn and look at me, "Lilly, what documentary?"

Her gaze flickers over to Jack before returning to me, sighing as she says, "You remember how Jamie was always filming, and he made that cast documentary..." she drags off; I hum, nodding for her to continue, "Well, uh, there was another one... The Eden cut."

"He finished it when you were broken up," Jack admits, awkwardly tugging at his curls, "and uh, he sent it to us. I thought maybe he'd told you about it."

A soft smile paints its way across my lips as my confusion melts into something else. Surprise, happiness, excitement... love.

"Do you guys have it?" I ask nosily. Then again, it is a documentary about myself; you can't blame me for being nosy and curious. Jack hums, moving off the couch into the bedroom. Seconds later, he reappears, holding his laptop. When he sits back down beside me, he types away for a few minutes, silently nodding when he finds what he's looking for, turning the screen to face me, "The story of us..." I read aloud, my heart melting at the title.

Why hadn't Jamie told me about this?

"We can send it to you if you want," Lilly suggests, shrugging her shoulders, "I get it if you'd rather watch it in private."

I don't think I'll be able to think straight until I do watch it... but the thought of having to watch it alone sounds miserable; at least with Jack and Lilly here, I'll have someone to reach over to when it inevitably gets hard to watch. "No," I shake my head, "I think I'd prefer if you stayed."

Lilly settles in again on the other side of me while Jack props his laptop up on the coffee table, looking over his shoulder at me as he questions, "Ready?"

I hum, instinctively reaching to squeeze Lilly's hand as Jack presses play before settling in beside me. Wrapping his arm around my shoulder, Jack leans his head on top of my own, pressing a kiss to the top of my head in the ways he's been doing since we were younger, the little brother I'd always wanted and never had, until that fateful day all those years ago when my life changed for the better.

...

"Come on, Eden; everyone's filmed their introductions already." Jamie holds his camera up toward Eden, who's currently sat crisscrossed on a spare chair in the makeup trailer, book in hand. She'd watched Jamie go around and film all of the younger cast members' introductions for some documentary he was making. As soon as he turned the camera to her, she held up her book, covering her face.

"Yeah, but their cast members." She states matter of factly. Eden hated being on camera or the center of attention; when Jamie had filmed everyone else's introductions earlier, she happily watched, giggling as they awkwardly waved to the camera. "I'm just Eden. No one cares about seeing Trinity's older sister."

"Well, I do," Jamie says, as his one hand reaches forward to grab Eden's wrist. He can't help but wonder if she feels the same shock of electricity at the slight touch, his entire body on fire as he lowers the book in her hand. Eden sighs as the camera comes into her focus, filming her. Self-consciously, she brushes her bangs to the side, her cheeks on fire. "So, say hi."

She hardly knew Jamie; he was so shy. But sometimes, he'd surprise her by saying something like this, something that made her stomach erupt with excited butterflies.

Eden rolls her eyes, giving in, "Hi." She waves to the camera, tone dry. Jamie chuckles a sound that Eden hasn't heard flowing out of his lips very often since meeting him, her heart melting. "Am I done now?"

...

Jack and Lilly both laugh at my sarcastic comment, the younger boy nudging me slightly as he says, "Some things never change, huh?"

Except so much had. Eden, back then, hated being on camera; she was shy and uncomfortable in her body. I was the kind of girl who stood off on the sidelines and cheered others on. Now, my job required me to be in the spotlight at all times; being in front of a camera felt like second nature at this point.

So much had changed, and yet... I was still the same sarcastic girl who took this first video all those years ago. I hum in response as it cuts to another day.

...

"Up next, we've got Eden Bliss. After scoring a total of six last round, can she redeem herself?" A young Jack Champion speaks into his hands like it's a microphone, mocking a British accent that everyone but the Brit behind the camera laughs at.

Moving the camera, Jamie focuses in on Eden. The sixteen-year-old is sporting a pair of long overalls that Jack teased her about relentlessly all evening, claiming she looks like a kindergartener. Jamie, on the other hand, couldn't help but admire how cute she looked in them, her hair loosely hung over her shoulder, fingers constantly fidgeting with the bangs she hated.

"Shut it, Champion," Eden glares, though it's clear by the smile lining her braces-lined teeth that she's amused. She's known the other kids from the cast less than a week now, and yet they've all become so close. "Maybe you're just bad luck."

"Yeah," Jamie muses from behind the camera he's filming on, "leave her alone."

Looking over her shoulder, the shock on Eden's face is evident as her eyes connect with Jamie's blue ones, which hadn't gotten any less startling since the day they first met. Out of everyone in the cast, she was the least close with him. Jamie's quiet and awkward around her, and she's always blamed it on him not being the biggest fan of hers... and yet here he is now, cheering her on.

    Weird...

"Thanks, Jamie," When she smiles, it takes everything in Jamie not to melt. He'd never seen a smile quite like Eden's before. Unable to form words, he merely shrugs, causing her to turn her gaze back to her putt turn.

Jamie continues filming her as Eden taps her putter against the neon pink golf ball she'd chosen, the camera focused on Eden and the adorable face she makes when she's concentrating, her tongue poking out of the corner of her mouth, as her eyes squint.

He's more focused on watching the girl; he hardly notices how well her turn is going until she lets out a loud cheer, jumping up in down as she whips around to face her friends, "Did you see that?" She questions them all, but her gaze stays focused on Jamie, who's smiling at her like she's the most amazing thing in this world.

Jamie was pretty sure she was the most amazing thing on this earth, though he had no idea how to communicate that to the girl.

"Guess we know who Eden's good luck charm is," Bailey cheers, though she's not shown on the camera, the lens focused solely on Eden, whose cheeks begin to glow a light shade of pink.

Her gaze never leaves Jamie, a pretty smile dancing across her lips, "yeah. I guess so."

...

"Look at Eden," he says to the camera, zooming in as she looks up at him, doe-eyed. Everyone else is sat at the kitchen table while she's hard at work in the kitchen, swaying to the music as she rolls out chocolate chip cookies. "Everyone else is playing UNO, and she's making cookies. This is why she's my favourite."

A lot had changed since the last time he'd filmed a clip of her. A few days back, she'd walked into his trailer only to discover him sitting on the floor, panicking. Somehow, the teenage girl had been able to soothe Jamie's racing heartbeat, calming him down completely.

Since then, something had shifted between them. They were friends.

Though he couldn't help but feel more for her still, it was impossible not to.

    "Jamie, it's your turn."

Before Eden can reply, a young Jack can be heard off-camera sighing. This hadn't been the first time Eden distracted Jamie during their game, and it certainly wasn't going to be the last.

"Shit, sorry." The Brit apologizes, a faint blush beginning to coat his cheeks after being caught distracted by Eden.

...

Chuckling, I look to Lilly and Jack, "Did he always get distracted like that?"

They both nod, Lilly speaking up, "all the time. It was both adorable and extremely annoying."

I hadn't noticed it when we were teenagers, the way Jamie would watch me, constantly distracted by my presence. I hadn't thought anything different about the way he'd treated me. I truly only ever thought he saw me as his best friend.

But watching these back, his feelings were clear.

I can't help but blush as the next clip beings to play.

...

When Jamie put his camera down, he never intended on anyone else picking it up, but Bailey couldn't help but press record as she watched Eden sit on the edge of the tank, bare feet dipped in the water as she laughed at whatever Jamie was saying, leaning up on his arms to speak to her

"What are you doing?" A young Lilly can be heard off camera, laughing as Bailey zooms in on the pair, who are completely oblivious to her filming them. Jamie looks at Eden with stars in his eyes, like she is the most beautiful person he's ever laid eyes on, and while it seems Eden hasn't completely noticed that yet, there wasn't a doubt in Bailey's mind that one day she would.

That one day, the pair would get together.

"They'll want this one day," Bailey says knowingly; despite being so young, she was incredibly wise. "I know it."

Jamie's hands reach over, and within a second, Eden's submerged in the tank water, which was freezing cold, shocking her system. Flailing her feet, hands grip at the girl's waist, tugging her close as Jamie and Eden resurface together. "What the hell, Flatters." She gasps, laughing, her head tilting back.

"You looked warm," Jamie teases, a strong enough swimmer to hold both himself and a giggly Eden up, "thought you might want to cool down."

It isn't long until they're both laughing, the two of them completely hysterical as Eden and Jamie splash around in the tank, unknowingly filmed by a smirking Bailey.

...

"Jamie, Jamie," Eden can be heard yelling for the Brit before she's seen on camera. He'd been filming something of Jack, his attention quickly shifting at the sound of the teenage girl's voice. He thought Eden wasn't going to show up today, his heart sinking when she hadn't shown up with Trinity this morning.

He can't help but chuckle when she pokes her head in his trailer, where he and Jack are currently playing video games. She's got on a sweatshirt of his that she'd stolen, drowning on her in an adorable manner. Jamie would happily give her every single sweatshirt he owned, loving the way they looked on her. "Hey, E. What's-"Eden smiles at him widely, teeth on display, "Holy shit."

"I know," You squeal, still smiling. The braces you'd had since first meeting were gone, your teeth perfectly white and straight, "Isn't it amazing."

"We have to celebrate," Jamie stands, still filming the giddy girl. He's fully dressed in his mocap suit, dots drawn across his features, making him look completely ridiculous, "what do you say we go out and get all the candy you weren't allowed to eat with them on? There's a convenience store not too far from here?"

Eden had a hard time saying no to Jamie, so despite knowing he probably shouldn't go off of set in his motion capture suit, she agrees. The two of them sneaking off the set, with Jack promising to keep their cover... a major mistake on their behalf.

The next time Jamie pulls his camera out, he and Eden are walking back onto the set, her head ducked guilty, swinging a bag of treats back and forth in her hands, "What just happened, Trouble?" Jamie questions, interrogating her.

"Trouble?" Eden ignores his question, scoffing. For the first time since James caught them, she's smiling genuinely, her brow quirked.

"Yeah," Jamie shrugs behind the camera, "you're always getting me into trouble... so it feels like a fitting nickname."

...

"I used to hate that nickname," I admit to the couple on either side of me, tone reminiscent. Jamie used to annoy me with it, knowing how much I hated getting in trouble and how embarrassed it made me feel. But as we got older, the teasing nickname slowly turned into a term of endearment, one I longed to hear whenever we were apart.

Hearing it now makes me long to call Jamie, solely so he can say it to me.

The next piece of footage begins playing; you can tell time has passed since the last one. The first brief clip is of the resort we stayed at during the Disney part of the press tour, with me running into Jamie's arms. I squeeze Lilly's hand, the documentary getting harder to watch as it goes on.

My longing to be with Jamie getting stronger.

...

Eden was too busy focusing on the keys of the piano to notice Jamie filming her, her voice quietly singing along as the others danced around the empty hotel conference room. It was day one of the Avatar press tour, and Jamie was completely screwed.

He'd hoped that time apart would help his feelings for his best friend, that with time they'd fade. They were no longer kids; maybe his feelings were just a crush, an infatuation that'd fade. He was wrong, though.

As she sat in front of him playing the piano, he couldn't help but feel more love than he's ever felt in his life.

"You kiss on sidewalks. You fight, and you talk," Eden's voice is perfect, a sound that Jamie could happily listen to on repeat for the rest of his life, "one night, he wakes strange look on his face. Pauses, then says you're my best friend."

Looking up, Eden and Jamie's gazes connect, her eyes crinkling in the corners as she smiles. She wished she could be honest with him and that she could admit that every lyric she was singing reminded her of him. What she doesn't realize is that he feels the exact same. "And you knew what it was. He is in love."

...

Jamie is greeted with cheering voices as he steps out of the car, already overwhelmed, and he hasn't even walked the red carpet yet. He films his friends as he steps out of the car, all seeming much calmer about the event than he feels; he pans the camera over them quickly, looking for one person in particular.

"And here we have the stunning Eden Bliss," He walks closer to the girl, looking at her through the camera. He's not lying for the camera; she does look stunning. Then again, Jamie would think she's stunning no matter what, "anything you'd like to say to the people, Trouble?"

Eden playfully rolls her eyes, but a smile spreads across her face. Jamie can't help but reciprocate, "Hi, people." Eden waves, laughing.

"How do you feel about the Avatar 2 London premiere tonight?

"Overwhelmed." Eden's gaze flickers to the crowded carpet before returning to the camera, "but very proud."

Lowering the camera slightly, Jamie makes it appear as if he's no longer filming, making sure to keep the lens up, filming Eden's face. When his eyes connect with hers, Eden's smile becomes more genuine, her features softening as he looks her up and down. She always looks gorgeous, but tonight... wow.

    "You look lovely, Trouble."

...

"Are you seriously filming me right now?" It's a few weeks later, and everything has changed. If someone had told Eden at the beginning of the press tour that she'd be sitting in Jamie's bed, wearing his t-shirt as she eats chocolate-covered strawberries, lips tingling from kissing him. She would have thought they were insane.

Jamie can't help but pull his camera out, filming her sitting there, goofily smiling up at him, "you look really cute right now," He informs her, bending down slightly to get a better angle. The corner of her lips is covered in chocolate.

"You know what would be even cuter," Eden says, patting the spot beside her before Jamie can reply, "if we were both in the shot. C'mere."

Placing the camera down so it's facing them, Jamie crawls across the bed, sighing with contentment when he finally reaches his girlfriend, who leans over to greet him with a kiss, one that he can't help but lean into, wanting more of the sweet taste on her lips. "Who's this video for anyway?" Eden asks against his lips. "I thought you were finished with the documentary?"

"I guess it's for me," Jamie admits with a shrug, "something to look back on when I miss you."

Frowning, Eden snuggles into the boy's chest, hugging him, "Can we just forget about that for now? Let's play pretend."

...

A few more clips of our dating relationship play, and I can't help but feel worse, knowing what's to come. We look so happy as Jamie surprises me on Christmas, his camera secretly set up to record me running into his arms. Him facetiming me when my first single is released and my reaction to him sending me balloons and flowers.

I don't realize how hard I'm squeezing Lilly's hand until she winces, a scene from one of my shows beginning to play. The outfit I'm wearing is one I remember too well; it's hard to forget every small detail from that night. "We can stop if you want?" Lilly questions, concerned.

They've seen the documentary, so they both know what's coming next, and I'm not too sure if I'm ready to see it.

But I also can't stop now; too curious to see where the documentary goes after this.

"No, it's fine," I reassure, breathless, as Jack hugs me a little tighter, placing another kiss on my head, "I wanna see what happens."

...

Jamie's heart aches as his eyes stay glued to the TV. She looked gorgeous, her brown hair curled, a glittery purple dress hugging her body perfectly. He wanted to hate her so much for breaking his heart that night in her dressing room.

But as hard as he tried, it was impossible for Jamie Flatters to hate Eden Bliss.

"I don't get why you don't just talk to her," One of his friends says, the one behind the camera, secretly filming Jamie's reaction to you on screen. He didn't know what prompted him to pull his phone out, but he couldn't help but think one day Jamie might want this.

He was hopeful that maybe one day, Jamie could show her this. To prove he never fell out of love with you.

"I can't be her friend," Jamie admits, "it's too hard."

They don't say anything else, watching as she performs at the award ceremony, the camera panning to Trinity in the crowd as she finishes. Her younger sister is cheering extra loud, cheering for her older sister.

As happy as he was that you'd brought your sister, Jamie couldn't help but feel upset. That should be him sitting there, cheering you on.

When it's time for her category to be announced, his friend pulls his phone out again. Jamie's tugging at his curls, anxiously waiting. Despite everything, he knows how she deserves this, "and the Grammy goes to... Eden Bliss."

You can hardly hear the woman announcing anymore as Jamie shoots out of his chair, cheering. Despite everything, he tears up, completely entranced by you as you walk onto the stage.

Despite everything, Jamie smiles proudly.

...

The next clip in the documentary is random footage of us, drowned out by Jamie's perfect voice. "I never thought Eden and I's story would end like this." he says, and I feel like I can't breathe on the edge of my seat as I wait for him to say something. "I always thought our story would end with us together, that this documentary would be decades in the making."

I did too. Back then, Jamie was my forever. There's no one else in this world that I could imagine as my forever.

"I don't think I'm capable of loving another person as much as I love Eden Bliss, and I don't want to. I am lucky to have loved her and had her love me in return."

The montage ends, replaced by Jamie, who's propped the camera up to film himself. This is more recent footage of him, his hair grown out and stubble growing on his chin.

"And maybe one day, we'll find our way back," he continues, solemnly smiling, "but for now, this is it. The story of us."

I don't realize I'm crying until Lilly releases my hand, squeezing my shoulder instead, "so," Jack mumbles, unsure of what to say, "what do you think?"

I've been so unsure of what to do since Jamie left. Not sure if I should follow my heart or head, but everything suddenly feels so clear now. I know what I need to do. "I think I need to go to London."

This chapter was a hard one to write for some reason, so sorry for it being so late (hopefully it being super long makes up for that !!)
I actually got the "Eden documentary" idea from a lovely reader in the comments a while back, but can't remember when or who lol!! If you're reading this and you left that comment, thank you! I clearly loved the idea a lot!!
