Diana Smith, just another name uttered through the halls of Midtown High. After her parents passed away in a freak accident during the alien attack on New York City years ago, she was instantly reduced to that sad girl that no one knew how to talk to. Now living with her godmother, Rosie Thompson, she was stuck in a household with a bully and an overly chatty freshman.

Living with Flash and Jesse Thompson wasn't all bad though, she found times when a smile would stretch on her lips as she joined in on the family nights, even if Flash was a little too competitive in a game of Monopoly.

But when tragedy strikes a silver lining does appear and that came in the form of a quiet boy who was battling his own demons with the passing of his uncle. When Diana stumbles across a secret she wasn't supposed to discover, she vows to take it to the grave. But when Peter Parker keeps finding himself  bloodied and bruised, she swoops in to try and bandage him up. Being a superhero had its downfalls and Pete was just a kid doing a man's job.

However, together they find a balance, trying to help each other through the pain of losing the ones they loved. With each other, maybe they don't have to be lonely hearts anymore. Maybe fates work like that.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

So! I'm rewriting this story, for all those who do and don't know, and I'm placing one half in Civil War and the second in Homecoming. It'll make for an smoother transition and maybe my brain will be content with what I write for once. These will closely follow the movies but will have elements from the comics as well as there are some things about MCU Peter's backstory that I don't know.

You're all probably noticing the different set-up I have for this intro and that's because I received this plot from the extremely talented tinkertaydust who had also provided a summary that I utilized above, so I warped my set up to make it all work. And because of the non-definable title, I just went with a quote instead.

So, this fic is one that I'm honestly extremely excited to write for because Diana, while not originally my character, is one that has quickly stolen my heart and as a result, I'm going to work very hard to do her justice. Hopefully, it works out well.

There are a few things I just want to mention:

• I had tried to find Guatemalan actresses to be the faceclaims for Roise and Jesse (it's harder than it sounds) but only succeeded in finding Adria for Rosie, who is actually pretty young. Isabella Moner is Peruvian.

• I do have Gwen and Harry here, but I do not have MJ. The reason being is that Gwen and Harry were Flash's friends in college, so I'm translating that into this. MJ was just "the nice Watson girl from next door" that Aunt May kept trying to set Peter up with and has nothing to do with the character arcs I have planned, so MJ is not going to be in this story purely because she has no reason to. Because Michelle is here and that's not MJ.

• Danny Glick and Nicky Green are not characters in the comics
