Ayleen walked alone through the woods near the shore of the lake. She had been stuck inside all day and she needed some fresh air. She walked towards the woods that were nearby and entered them.

She whistled softly to herself, enjoying the breeze and peacefulness.

Until she heard a noise.

Meh! Meh!

"What in the world?" Aylenn walked towards the noise and found a little goat laying on the ground.

Meh! Meh!

"How did you get out here?"

She took a step towards him when suddenly it leapt over her head and landed behind her.

Meh! Meh!

Ayleen stared at the goat dumbfounded.

"How did you..."

Meh! Meh!

The goat leapt into the air again only this time it didn't come down. Instead it landed in a tree branch.

Meh! Meh!

Aylenn couldn't believe what she was seeing.

"A flying goat. Now I've seen everything."

Meh! Meh!

The goat flew off. Making that annoying sound.

"Bard will never believe this." Aylenn shook her head and made her way back to Laketown.

When she arrived she heard a familiar noise.

Meh! Meh!

Ayleen whipped around and saw the goat standing on the roof of a small house.

"You again!"

Meh! Meh!

"Stop doing that!"

Meh! Meh!

"Get out of here!"

"Who are you talking to Ayleen?"

Ayleen froze. She recognized the voice. She turned around and smiled.

"Hello Bard."

"Hello Ayleen."

Bard smiled and looked at her curiously.

"Who were you talking to?"

Ayleen sighed.

"You're probably going to think I'm crazy. But there is a tiny flying goat following me."

Bard couldn't help himself. He started laughing.

"A flying goat?"

"Yes! It was just there!"

Ayleen pointed at the roof where the goat had been but there was mo sign of it.

Bard chuckled.

"Maybe you've been outside for too long Ayleen."

"I'm not crazy Bard! There really was a flying goat!"

Meh! Meh!

Ayleen froze. Bard looked up curiously and his mouth dropped open.

"It's... It's a-"

"Tiny flying goat."

Meh! Meh!

The goat was flying in a cirlce over their heads. Ayleen and Bard watched in silence.

Meh! Meh!

The goat flew away.

"There it goes!" Ayleen ran after it with Bard following close behind.

They ran past people and dodged baskets and more people.

They could the goat continuing it's annoying, Meh! Meh!

They ran out of Laketown and towards Erebor. The goat swirled around in the air but continued to lead them.

Meh! Meh!

"Why *gasp* are we *pant* following it?" Bard asked.

"I *pant* honestly *gasp* don't know." Ayleen replied.

Meh! Meh!

Finally the goat landed. Ayeen and Bard ran over to it.

Meh! Meh!

"Alright, what are you?" Ayleen narrowed her eyes.

Meh! Meh!

"Why does it keep doing that?" Bard asked.

Meh! Meh!

"I don't know, but it's driving me crazy!"

Meh! Meh!

"Foe Hammer! Where are you?"

Bard looked up. "Who is that?"

Meh! Meh!

A young red-haired dwarf appeared from over a hill. Her eyes brightened when she saw the goat.

"Foe Hammer! Where have you been you little trouble maker?"

Meh! Meh!

"Foe Hammer?" Ayleen asked in confusion.

The dwarf finally noticed them.

"Oh! Hi. I'm Vili."

"Hi... I'm Ayleen. And this is Bard."

Bard waved.

"Nice to meet you. I see you've found Foe Hammer."

Meh! Meh!

Foe Hammer ran over to Vili and jumped around her.

"This thing is yours?" Bard asked.

Vili smiled proudly.

"Yup. He's all mine."

"Why does he fly?" Ayleen asked.

Vili looked down at the goat.

"I have no idea."

Meh! Meh!

"Where did you guys find him?"
Vili asked.

"He was in the woods near the lake." Ayleen said. "I think he followed me into Laketown."

"Well, thanks for finding him! He's always getting himself into trouble."

Vili turned to Foe Hammer and knelt down in front of him.

"Alright buddy. I need you to take this Merry for me. Ok?"

Meh! Meh!

Vili rubbed his head.

"That's a good goat! Here you go."

Vili put a small rope around Foe Hammer's neck. Attached to it was a rolled up peace of paper.

"Don't lose it boy. Ok?"

Meh! Meh!

"Good boy! Now get going! I want you there before nightfall."

Meh! Meh!

Foe Hammer leapt into the air and flew off. Leaving Bard and Ayleen staring in complete confusion.

Vili smiled.

"Well, it was nice to meet you two. Bye!"

Vili walked back towards Erebor, leaving Ayleen and Bard alone.

"Did you understand any of that?" Bard asked.

"Not a word." Ayleen replied.

------------------------------------------------------

Now we've got a flying goat. Sorry for the short chapter but trust me more madness is coming! Questions need to be answered! What was on the note Vili sent to Merry? How did Foe Hammer learn to fly? And what about Legolas's hair crisis? All these will probably remain shrouded in mystery until the end of time. (JK)

Special thanks to JulesForest17 for coming up with the name Foe Hammer for our new little goat friend.
