Mackenzie's POV

I couldn't believe it. After everything that's happened so far, we were gonna make it. Maddie carried me back, since I think I sprained my ankle or something. Paige leaned on Chloe and Kendall lead the way. We finally got to the point where it was a fork in the trail. We saw the trail on the left side, the one we should've taken. Paige sighed. "I wish Nia and Brooke had made it this far." She said sadly and began to cry. Chloe rubbed her back. "It's ok Paige. Everything will be ok." She said. Paige nodded. We kept walking. "Maddie am I heavy?" I asked. Maddie shook her head. "No Kenz, if anything, you're TOO light." She replied. I nodded.

Then we reached the starting point of the trail. There were police officers, firefighters, and search and rescue scattered around. There were tents stationed all around for people to sleep in obviously. No one seemed to notice our presence at first. Then I saw my mom. And Jill. And Christi. And Kelly. And Holly. And...was that Abby?! I felt bad for Kelly and Holly because one of their kids died. Mommy!!" I screamed. Mom turned in my direction. Here eyes were red and puffy and it was obvious that she had been crying forever. But as soon as she saw us, a grin split her face. "Maddie! Mackenzie!" She screamed back and ran towards us. So did the other moms, and Abby. "Omigosh we were so worried!" Mom said. "Where's Nia?!" Holly asked worriedly. All of us girls looked at one another. We knew we had to answer. Kendall stepped up. "Um, well Holly, there was a bear and..." She started. "No! Oh god no! Please tell me Nia didn't get killed!" She begged. Kendall shook her head a little. "I'm...so sorry." She said. Holly fell to the floor, crying her eyes out. "And Brooke?! What about her?!" Jelly asked. Paige and I met glances. "The bear..." Paige started. "Brooke gave her life for Maddie and I. She..." "Died," Kendall finished for me. "Yea," I said choking back tears. Kelly stood there. She did nothing. She said nothing. Did she not care? "Well at least I still have Paige." She said shortly. We stared at her in awe. "Don't you even care, mom?! Brooke was my sister and your daughter and you don't care about her death?!" Paige looked disgusted. Kelly was speechless. "Paige cmon let's go home," Kelly said alas and grabbed Paige by the arm. Paige pulled back and we gasped. "No mom! I'm not going home with you! Not after what you did to Brooke!" Paige screamed. "Paige Mackenzie Hyland get in the car now!" Kelly yelled. She picked her up and carried a fussing and crying 14 year old Paige to her car. Mom took Maddie and I. Jill took Kendall. Christi took Chloe. Holly got into her car alone and sniffling. I felt bad for her. And then we drive home.
