It took a few days to get back to the North Pole, and they were relived when the island appeared on the horizon. When they landed, Marina moved to her pool and began to gulp the algae infested water down. Willow dismounted and began to pick blue bells, one of her favorite foods on this island. Besides the Flightmare berries, which looked like orange rasberries. They grew along the water on the island.

It was late at night, almost time for their midnight meal. The sun had just set about half an hour ago. For some reason, the sun set late at night and rose early in the morning. If course, they didn't mind, they were nocturnal anyway.

Once Willow had finished picking the ingredients for her salad, they flew inside. They decided that they'd pack now, then go to sleep and be ready to go at dusk. Willow and Marina once again led them through the maze of tunnels to the storage.

As the Flightmare and her rider were emptying Marina's saddle bags, Toothless began to wander through the maze of stuff.

"What's this?" he nosed an object in a pile.

"Toothless, quit touching everything!"

Hiccup walked up to his Dragon and picked up the object. It was the cylindrical kaleidoscope thing he had noticed last time. He raised it to his eye level, curious.

"Wait, what is this?"

Willow glanced over. "Oh, that? I'm not sure. I found it in an old ship graveyard, just outside the archipelago. For some reason, I seemed drawn to that place..." she trailed off. "Anyway, there was this weird ship called "The Reaper". It was absolutely covered in booby traps, from stem to stern. That thing was on it. I also got a lot of other goodies from that graveyard. You'd be surprised at how many tresures there were there. But anyway, I think it does something, but what ever it does, you need a Snow Wraith tooth to unlock it."

"A Snow Wraith tooth?" Hiccup looked up, "Couldn't you just get one from the riders on Glacier Island?"

Willow shrugged. "I guess. I guess I just haven't been curious enough."

Hiccup looked down in thought. "I have a Snow Wraith tooth. I traded the little one a bit of scrap metal for a necklace with a Snow Wraith tooth on it."

He set the odd thing down and opened one of Toothless' saddle bags. After looking for a while, he finally found it. He pulled it out. The tooth glistened on the string.

Hiccup brought it to the key hole, inserted it, and turned it. It clicked.

They waited in scilence for something to happen, but nothing did.

"It's probably just a broken prototype for something." Willow went back to work.

"Hmm. Can I keep it on me? I want to investigate it more."

"Sure. I don't care. You can have it if you want, I don't know anyone who'd trade for it."

"Thanks." Hiccup put the object in a saddle bag, and slipped the Tooth around his neck. He tucked it into his tunic before going to help his partner.

➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰

"The first tribe is this way. A while ago, these Vikings fought dragons. They participated in a never ending war over territory and food. But since then, they've made peace with the dragons. It was only fifty years ago when they made their peace, but this is the place where I get some of my awesome technology."

They were flying over dark waters to a large island far East and slightly South of Berk. Hiccup couldn't wait to see the village. He could hardly imagine Berk making peace with the dragons, but perhaps this place wouldn't be so different. And if this place could change, why couldn't Berk?

Hiccup shook the thoughts out of his head. What was he thinking? Berk would never change. They were too proud to give in to the facts.

They continued soaring at a steady pace over the water, and Hiccup began to think about what Natalia had said. About him needing a mark.

He had no idea what that meant. A mark? And he didn't need one, he didn't have that many enemies and friends did he?

Just as he thought it, a bola shot past him.

"That's it! That's the Night Fury!" he heard a gruff voice shout from below.

"What the-?" Hiccup dodged another bola and Toothless screeched in surprise.

They looked down. Below them were three boats, all with a familiar insignia. Aboard the boats were the same trappers who had tried to kill Toothless for his hide.

And the man who had just called out, was the man who wore knives as a jacket.

"Ugh, not these guys again!"

"I don't like them either, Hiccup," Toothless cooed.

"Let's show them who they're messing with!"

Toothless and Hiccup banked before soaring downward, the whistle echoing over the water.

They sped around them, leaving the Vikings on board confused as to what they were shooting at.

They turned their attention on the easy target. The giant, glowing Dragon in the night sky. The archers aimed, but right as they shot, Toothless let out a plasma blast that sent the arrows back in the direction they came from.

The archers jumped over board to avoid being hit by their own arrows.

Toothless shot again, this time taking out the bola launcher. They sped away before the other Vikings could pin point where they were.

They sped towards the ship's again, and let out another blast. This one exploded on the mast, which toppled over by the force of the blow. It landed on the next boat over, destroying their deck.

The ships began to sink. Toothless shot another blast at the third one to speed it along.

Finally, the boats disappeared under the water, leaving the Vikings swimming for the closest island.

They flew back up to continue their flight.

"You should have an insignia," Willow suggested. "Something people see, then think twice about attacking you. You totally just took out Three ships on your own!"

An insignia. Maybe that's what Natalia meant.

They continued to fly into the night, watching the stars' reflection in the water.

➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰

Dawn was approaching when they spotted the island. The rising sun silhouetted a dragon and its rider approaching.

As they neared each other, Toothless warbled, "It's a Strike class dragon!"

Marina smiled, "You're right."

"What is that?" Hiccup asked.

Soon, they met in midair.

The teenage girl atop the green and yellow Dragon spoke. "Welcome, Willow! And who's this?"

"Hi, Sloan. This is Hiccup and Toothless, they're my new partners," Willow introduced them in Norse. "This, Hiccup, is Sloan and Squerkuns, her Triple Strike."

The Triple Strike smiled and stuck his tongue out. "Hi, Toothless! It's good to see another dragon of my class!"

Toothless returned the smile, complete with the tongue and all. "Hi! Same here!"

"Wow, a Night Fury and a Triple Strike in the same vision!" Willow exclaimed.

"Toothless is a Night Fury? Wow! I've never seen one with my own eyes before! And that means that you and Toothless are in the same class, Squerk!" Sloan spoke to her Dragon.

"Yup!" he responded.

"Wait, does Sloan not know Dragonese?" Hiccup asked.

"Nope, none of the riders here do. But it's fine. We don't mind!" Squerkuns explained.

"Who's that?" Hiccup pointed off towards the island. Another Dragon was flying towards them.

Sloan turned. "Oh, that's just Andrea of Tide Pool Beach coming to great us."

"What's she riding?"

"That's Dewlash, her Tide Glider."

The new rider flew up to Sloan. They all exchanged quick introductions before Andrea suggested they land.

"There's some extra huts over in Boulder Heights, but we'll have to notify Grandon."

"True. He's off duty, but no doubt he'll be up trying to clean up Windwhipper after last night's Cavern Crasher fiasco."

"Right. C'mon. We better get there before the Villages wake up or we're going to have a riot on our hands. We can start trading tonight, you guys need your sleep," Sloan said as she and Squerk began to fly towards the mountains.

The rest of the riders followed, and soon they landed in the middle of a village that was on a huge outcropping in the mountain. They had the most gorgeous view of the ocean, but they also had an interesting view of a Strong, yet thin teenage Viking. This Viking was scrubbing a dragon, who was writhering on the ground in pleasure. This Dragon was a Whispering Death.

"Whoa!" Hiccup backed up. Upon hearing him, the Whispering Death shot up, raised its spikes, and stared at him. Toothless quickly jumped in front and growled.

"Hey, Windwhipper, be nice! And we're not done scrubbing yet!" the Viking walked up to them and led his Dragon away. Hiccup noticed the Whispering Death was covered in some sort of odd slime. He decided not to ask.

"Anyway, this is Grandon. He's in charge of the Village of Boulder Heights."

"Yup, that's me! It's a blessing, and a curse..." he glanced at the spunge he was holding. It was dripping with slime. "Anyway. Hi, Willow! Welcome. And is this a Night Fury? Wow! So. What can I do for you?"

"They need a place to stay for the day. We were thinking those extra huts," Sloan said, "but don't let your villagers know they're here. They need their rest."

"Right! Okay, Sloan. Leave it to me!" Grandon exclaimed. Andrea hopped off Dewlash and gave the Boulder Heights rider a peck on the cheek.

"I'll meet you in the Rider's Lounge for breakfast, okay?" she then hopped back onto her Tide Glider and took flight. Sloan followed her on Squerkuns.

"Right, come on, I'll lead you to the huts."

➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰➰

That night, it was time to trade. Grandon led them to the Rider's Lounge, which was really just a big, awesome clubhouse at the island's peak. The Lounge was locked when They arrived, and Grandon unlocked it with his dragon's flame, just like all of Willow's doors back at the North Pole. While they were in the Lounge, they met the other leading riders and their dragons.

There was Donathan, who rode a purple and black Nadder named Stalker. He was in charge of Leading Breezes, a village in the flatlands of the island.

Then there was Syliva, who rode a Timberjack by the name of Sharpspliter. She was in charge of Shear Point, the Village in the valley below the Lounge.

There was also Shryut, who rode his Changewing, Shiftshot. He was the head of Foggy Creak, a village located on the creak.

Lastly, there was Tingon, who rode a green and red Typhomerang by the name of Deathtwirl. He led the Village of Flaming Skies.

All of the riders acted on Sloan's orders, who acted on her father's orders, who was the chief of the Villages.

The riders explained how the trading would take place in the center of the Villages, the square where Sloan and her father lived.

Hiccup and Willow were escorted there early, so they could lay out their goods for the people of the Villages.

As they were setting up, some early birds came, carrying an interesting type of fabric. They rode Gronkles, showing they were from Boulder Hieghts.

A large fellow ran up to Willow.

"Willow! Guess what I have here to trade! I've managed to create a fire resistant fabric!"

Hiccup could've sworn his ears perked, just like his dragon's did. They echanged a glance. Could this guy really have made fire resistant fabric?

"See? It was woven thickly, and it has Gronkle Iron woven into the fabric! And get this, it's really light!"

Hiccup walked over. "May I feel?"

The man answered eagerly. "Sure!"

Hiccup took the fabric. He stretched it, felt it, threw it up in the air, and tested it with a small plasma blast. It hardly smudged.

"Wow!"

"Can we get it? Please, please, please, please, please!?" Toothless begged.

"Tired of your new tail already?"

"Can we please get it?"

Hiccup chuckled before making eye contact with Willow. She nodded.

"Sir, this fabric is amazing! Do you see anything here you'd be willing to trade it for?"

The man walked around the long table. "Hmmm... Ahhh! How about this?" he pointed to a painting of a Catastrophic Quaken surrounded by members of the Boulder class. Hiccup could tell that it was Natalia's work.

"Sure," Hiccup handed him the painting and he gladly handed him the fabric. The man flew away talking about how the painting would look amazing in his main hall.

"You happy?" Hiccup asked his Dragon.

"Yes! Very happy! A new tail for me, a new tail for me!"

"Hey, who said I was making you a tail? I could be making a new saddle, or making a pair of wings for me so I wouldn't need you anymore."

Toothless' face fell. "You're not, are you?"

Hiccup laughed. "No, You're getting a new tail."
