May 13th, XXXX

'Twas was a stormy night on Elm Street. The rain was pouring heavily, no one could see anything else except the bleaking light illuminating from streetlamps and cars occasionally passing by. A few people still stuck outside were hurrying home, hands over their heads, eyes focused on the ground. It was a perfect scenario for a perfect heist.

A dark hooded figure emerged from the shadows of an alley, their gaze fixed on the blackened window of a seemingly normal apartment. "Don't let that harmless façade fool you", they thought, eyes gleaming with excitement. It was their first mission, an important one also, and they were determined to get it done.

Glancing back and forth, they crossed the road, the rain being their ally and enemy. They couldn't see much in the rain, and neither could their enemies. The figure silently crept up to the apartment, hands tucked in the pockets of their robe to pull out some sort of strange tool designed solely for breaking locks. They crouched down, eyes scanned for passerbys while their hands fumbled with the huge lock on the door. It was not very efficient, and they might catch a cold later with all this rain, but the tool did finish the job without making any significant noise, so they wouldn't complain. With a small creak, the door opened.

The apartment was, as it should be, the same as any other standard apartments: small area, limited amount of furniture, not much space to move around. At the center of the apartment lay a fireplace, and the fire was still crackling when they entered. "Is this place remodeled to look oldschooled or has it always been like this?", they thought while swiping the dust off of the cover of a book lying nearby. "How to Kill a Mocking Bird, interesting". They took a quick look across the room, nothing out of the ordinary. It looked just like any messy living room of a scholar: papers scattered across the table, piles of books stacking at the foot of the bookshelves. They seemed untouched. Anything that shouldn't be there wasn't there, except for the fire. It was recently lit, and there was no reason for the master to leave it burning while sleeping. The figure carefully retreated into the shadows of the room, waiting for the owner of the house to put out the fire. But they never did.

Dear readers, I have returned, for now. I suddenly got this amazing idea while rewatching "Atlantis: The lost empire" and I really want to publish it. Sooo, here I am, challenging myself with a new style, I think. I just finished my finals so this is my way of de-stressing 😅 Anyways, again this is fanfic, about another couple I like, and I hope you'll enjoy it ^^
