Sans' P.O.V

Another half year had gone by, the only big change being Frisk staying with me, and we were both waiting for the truce to come. I was napping on the couch while Frisk sat at the window, ready to get me when the yellow indicator went across the sky.

During the half year, I've been learning to control my craving whenever Frisk and I kiss, and we both are being taught how to hide our wings by the others.

I felt a pulse of energy, and groggily woke up before Frisk came to my side, eagerness plain on her face.

"Come on, Sans!" she said, pulling me off the couch with more force than I thought. "I want to try some of the games today!"

"the games aren't goin' anywhere, kiddo," I told her, still on the ground.

"But like Doggo said last time, the games start whenever, and I want to get there early!" she whined, dragging me over to the door by my arm. "What happened to you last time? Being so anxious and excited about the truce?"

"i was unsure if your father would still cast the truce after all of that."

"Come on, Sans!" she yelled, finally getting angry with me.

I sighed. "fine. but let's take a shortcut." I took hold of one of her arms and teleported us to the roof where the games were held. Even less angels seemed to be there this time, but from the energies, there were more angels this time than love angels.

"Do you think Azzy or Chara will show up?" Frisk asked, only now speaking her fear as we sat on my throne.

"d'ya think they'll break the truce?" There was no response, but I could tell that she was still thinking about it. "hey, we're here now, and no angel is attacking us."

"Except for this one! NGAAAAAAA!"

I turned around to face the fish angel, only to be pushed onto the structure by her weight.

"hello to ya, too, undyne," I said casually, seeing the smirk on her face despite her spear up against my jaw.

"Undyne, get off him," Frisk giggled, gently shoving her off, her spear fading away, allowing me to sit up.

"BROTHER, WHY HAVEN'T YOU BEEN HOME FOR THE PAST HALF YEAR?!" Papyrus shouted. "DAD HAS BEEN COMING HOME MORE FREQUENTLY, AND I'VE BEEN STAYING WITH UNDYNE, ALPHYS, AND METTATON MORE OFTEN BECAUSE OF YOUR WARNING SINCE WE WERE LITTLE."

"shit. guess we got him in trouble."

"What did you two punks do to have Paps as our almost permanent roommate?"

"I brought him up during the trial in Heaven, seeing no other way around it," Frisk mumbled.

"which led to both the prince and myself confirming that gaster's a love angel," I finished for her.

"Well that explains why I haven't seen him as much around Heaven after you guys came back."

"How is everyone?" Frisk asked.

"Everything is a lot different now, with you being proclaimed exiled. Asgore and Toriel seem to be keeping a close eye on them, although they hate love angels as much as any... normal angel. And remember that crazy bad storm a few months ago? I'm pretty sure that was the argument between Gaster and the royals crashing down and affecting Earth."

-Flashback-

I stood by the window, gazing out at the incoming storm, which had suddenly rolled in.

"they didn't say anythin' 'bout a thunderstorm," I whispered, faintly hearing the thunder overhead.

"What's a thunderstorm?" Frisk asked, coming over to me. I glanced at her, a bit confused.

"a storm with thunder, and it looks like this one's going to have some lightning along with it. how often do ya get weather up in heaven?"

"We never get any weather in Heaven," she answered, and I worked it out for myself. Heaven was in the sky, and the most perfect place compared to Earth. There wouldn't be any weather to ruin its brightness.

Frisk squeaked as a loud thunderclap sounded overhead, hugging me tightly. I laughed, hugging her back, thinking she was just using the thunder as a reason to hug me. However, as lightning lit up the house and another thunderclap sounded, I could feel her starting to shake and I saw her eyes tightly shut. That's when I knew. Behind her adult body, mind, and actions, Frisk was really just like a child on Earth. She knew everything in Heaven, but hardly anything on Earth.

I sighed and swept her off her feet, carrying her bridal style to the couch. I sat down and wrapped my wings around her, waiting out the storm and staying with her every second of it.

-End of Flashback-

"Pft, as if they can watch over us all the time without attending to royal duties," a familiar female voice cut through. Parting through the crowd came both the prince and princess of angels.

"GREETINGS, YOUR HIGHNESSES," Papyrus said, bowing respectfully. I couldn't help but roll my eyes.

"Are you here to once again try to change my mind?" Frisk asked tartly, glaring at her siblings.

"Nope," Chara replied. A large devious smile came to her face, and I didn't like what she said next. "Azzy wants to challenge the current 'king' for the throne." She stared straight at me, and I met her gaze, hardening mine as I refused to back down.

"fine, i always like a challenge anyways," I said darkly, my smile growing broader. "dogamy!" I called, and all the royal guard dogs came over, knowing what was going to happen. Bon and Jay, the bird angel, also came over, being part of our little group of delinquents. In the guard dog's paws were a couple coils of rope, but from Asriel's look, he wanted the challenge to be harder. "the chains, dogamy. the other rule still applies."

"Why don't we make everything a lot more interesting and go no rules?" the prince suggested slyly.

"feelin' cocky for bein' a first timer?" I chuckled. "sorry pal, but no rules would grant an immediate win for me."

"Oh yeah? I doubt that."

I teleported over to him, my eye sockets dark as I said, "ya sure about that?" Although he had the height advantage, teleporting must have been intimidating enough for him.

"F-Fine," the goat angel stammered. "We'll play by your rules."

"right. ropes around both our waists and tied around my throne, and chains for our wings and hands."

"Sans, you don't have to do this," Frisk said, coming over to me while Greater Dog tied the rope around me, the chains loosely wrapped around one of his armored arms.

"not doin' so would be forfeitin', and then i'd lose the best seat on the roof," I argued, adding a pathetic line at the end.

She sighed and just laid her head on my shoulder as my hands were being chained together.

"To the edge, Prince Asriel and King Sans," Dogaressa said when the chains were checked over to make sure that they wouldn't come off easily. I kissed the top of Frisk's head and walked over, my mind zoning out as Greater Dog explained the rules and risks of the leap.

"Are both the challenger and the king ready for the leap of faith?"

"yep," I said confidently.

"...Y-Yeah," my competitor stammered, seeming at a lost for words at first.

"Then on the count of three, you will both drop and try to get out of your chains before the end of the rope stops you. One... Two... Three! Drop!"

I fell forward, feeling the quick sense of fear course through me before my adrenaline kicked in, pushing it aside. From the corner of my eye socket, I could see the prince falling beside me. Wind rushed around me, my clothes flapping wildly. I was calm, however, my eyes closed, using patience and skill to weave my wings carefully out of the chains. When I felt them near the tips, I reopened my eyes, quickly spun around, and spread my wings. The wind was knocked out of me by the suddenness of my stop, and I saw the chains continue to fall. Along with the angel prince, who seemed to be struggling with the chains on his wings.

I worked my hands out of their chains and felt a flash of fear as the rope to the left of me, the one connected to Asriel, snapped. Instinct taking over me, like it usually does when my competitor has trouble and is nearing the ground, I dived after him. Every second brought me closer to him, but it also brought us both closer to the ground. I thrust out my left hand, using my magic to grab hold of his soul, and managed to save me a bit of time to catch up with him. I released my magic on him and hooked my arms underneath his, pulling up as soon as I did.

"Y-You... You saved me," the goat prince said breathlessly.

"'course i did," I grumbled. "i'm not heartless in the sense of feelings. d'ya expect me not to?" I got no response.

Straining my wings, I finally reached the top and set Asriel on the roof, collapsing beside him.

"continued ruler... of the throne... once again," I panted to the angels standing above me, closing my eyes as the world started to get dizzy.

"Are you okay, punk?" Undyne asked poking my shoulder with what felt like her spear.

"yeah... just let me sleep... forever," I said without opening my eyes. I don't know why or what, but something felt off.

"The day I can give you. Any time afterward would most likely guarantee your wish."

"yeah yeah. wanted: sans. kill on sight. i know. how's princey?"

"Alphys is fixing him up. Looks like he might have a bad injury to his right wing."

Silence elapsed between us for about another minute before I knew something was off. I sat up quickly, my breath getting faster as I realized what was off. I heard an "oof" as Undyne fell backwards, but I hardly noticed it as I stood up and glanced around the crowd and then my throne.

"where is she?" I asked to no one in particular.

"Where's who?" Asriel asked through gritted teeth.

I stopped freaking out, but only for a second as pieces came together in my head. I smiled and let out a dark chuckle before turning to the prince, my magic eye flaring. I grabbed his soul with my magic and lifted him into the air.

"ya know damn right who i'm talkin' 'bout. where. is. she?"

"S-S-Sans!" Alphys exclaimed. "He's i-injured! Put him down!"

"I really don't know who your talking about," Asriel said at the same time. "Which she are you mentioning?"

"it was your plan all along, wasn't it?" I asked, ignoring him, my anger building up. "to have that brat take her while you distracted me with the leap?!"

"Frisk? You mean she's not here anymore? L-Listen, Sans," he hurried on, "we just planned to have Chara have a chat with her, to catch up on everything that happened the past half year... to know how you have been treating her. We wouldn't take her back to Heaven if she was alright, though we have definitely thought of doing so. Orders are to kill her, and the truce doesn't count towards exiled angels brought back to Heaven. I wanted to do your so called leap of faith because I thought that bunny from last time was a fool and didn't do it right. I realize now how hard it is." I set him back on the ground, releasing my magic, my anger subsiding. "Speaking of missing people, where's Chara?" I looked around the crowd for either of the princesses, having the higher viewpoint advantage since I was standing, but I couldn't locate either trying to push their way through the crowd to us.

"two missin' princesses and no one has a clue as to where they went. just perfect," I added, my voice thick with sarcasm and anger. "the fuckers who took 'em are gonna have a bad time."
