I woke up the next morning beside his bed.

I was not sure how to tell him.

How could I  break the news to him without shattering his heart more?

I  glanced over at him and saw that he was awake.  Oh, the storm outside must have awakened him. No, surprise there as it was rather loud.

"Mari, do not you have something to tell me?" I heard him ask.

I nodded my head then recalled he could not see it.

     "Y-yes, but..."

Adrien reached over and grabbed my hand.  The gesture was enough to give me the courage I needed to spell it out to him.

"A-Adrien, I tried to think of the best way to explain your father's words. However, I think it best if I just went ahead and read them to you."

"Go ahead then, Marinette dear," I heard the voice of the boy I loved to say.

I  pulled out the now crumpled sheet of paper with words that I dreaded even now.

      "Dear Adrien,

It is with the deepest regret that I write this.  I know I have not been the best father. I have missed your mother, so much as I am sure you have too.  I think, under the circumstances, it is for the best if I come clean with a few things.

I am the manager and the leader of the Agreste brand.  The company was promised a huge sum of money from my brother. The only trouble is that a few years ago, he grew ill.

I thought he made it clear to his wife what was to be done, but I was wrong. So, as a result, the company is now bankrupt.  I will have to sell the house, the motorcycle, and four cars. The last car is already paid off.  I will be moving in with your Aunt Amelie and cousin Felix.

Natalie has a sister she can move in with and a few nephews and nieces to spoil.  Your bodyguard agreed to stay for now to help with the other arrangements.

I see no need to make you leave town or switch schools. I will have you move in with that Nino fellow.  I know I said once he was a bad influence on you, but I know now I was mistaken.

Son, I made the discovery a few days that you were Chat Noir. I came across this by accident. It was quite a surprise to me.

I do not know Ladybug's identity.

I am Hawkmoth, but I renounce that name. I made sure to tap the box with the brooch inside to the bottom of the table. Next to it is Mayura's box with the peacock miraculous inside.

    I am sorry.

I hope in time you will learn to forgive me, to keep love close, and never let it go.

    Love,

   your father,"

I finished reading the note and saw tears in Adrien's eyes.

I  rubbed my fingers over his knuckles with my other hand as the note fell to the floor.

  "Mari, the miraculous is here."

I   knew he was right. I looked under the table and saw two boxes side by side.

I  peeped in them. Sure enough, it was the moth and peacock miraculous.

I noticed the peacock one looked like it had been repaired. Strange, I never knew it was not broken anymore.

I  closed the boxes and placed both inside my purse. Then, transformed.

"I will be right back," I said.

I left as Ladybug, went home, and secured the miraculous of the moth and peacock inside the miraculous box for safekeeping. Then, detransformed, grabbed an umbrella, and returned to the hospital where I knew Adrien was waiting on me.

"I am back. I hope I did not take too long."

    I hugged him.
