After a few minutes, the bright flames faded until there was only smoke. The smoke billowed in my face and the smell of burning flesh filled my lungs, making my mouth water. I stepped over the charred remains and didn't look back, I retraced my footsteps until I reached the elder's house. Panic rose in the back of my throat like bile, threatening to gag me. All around the huge house was yellow police tape stretching across the whole house. I gazed at the beautiful house while thoughts flickered in my mind. How did they find the body so quickly? Would they figure it out that it was me? What should I do next? At once a female cop came out with one long strand on red hair, my red hair. I quickly moved towards the big oak by the edge of the yard and listened as carefully as I could. The female spoke urgently to a small group of young male officers "look, neither of the victims had red hair, the wife had thin brown hair while the husband was bald, the one who did this must have long red hair." They each nodded in turn, until one of the younger ones glanced around as if the murderer would just pop up. He then glanced at the tree I was hiding behind, at once, we locked eyes.
