Chapter 5

Axel had all of his men deal with Romero and Aylin's father's men.

Meanwhile, he and Aylin went to a clothing store, where Aylin could buy and wear comfortable clothes. Axel didn't even let her pay for them since her father might track her credit card usage.

Therefore, Aylin then wore comfortable sneakers, loose jeans, a white t-shirt, and a jacket along with a cap, all bought by Axel who claimed these were just gifts. After she had done changing, she asked,

"So, Mr. Kidnapper, where to now?"

"I was thinking of going for a walk, but we need to avoid the public eye. So I'm not sure. I am looking for where we could go."

At his reply, Aylin giggled,

"So you offered to save me without any plan?"

"I didn't think that you would agree."

He replied to which Aylin agreed,

"It's true. Even I wouldn't have believed that I would agree to this."

"Looks like you did something you never usually do."

"Well, it's not every day someone asks me if I want to be saved. Also, it's good to try new experiences every once in a while."

She smiles excitedly. Seeing her like this makes Axel smile as well.

"By the way, what are you going to tell Brendon? My men did send off all Brendon's men and dealt with Romero, but we won't be able to help with Brendon."

"Don't worry about him. He is out of the country and will come back tomorrow afternoon. I will deal with him."

"...if you say so."

"By the way, you didn't go to the office today?"

She asked, seeing as Axel was in casual clothes.

"I had a half day. Today I had plans to hang out with my friends."

"Oh...wait, your plans aren't being disturbed because of me are they?"

"No. We only got together and played bowling and pool and stuff."

"...seems fun."

"Why does it sound like you've never done stuff like this before?"

"Because I haven't. I am not allowed to. The most I can do is talk with my friends."

"Then do you want to go now?"

"I think it will be crowded."

"Not really. I own the place so I had it empty out for today. Two of my friends are actors and three are singers so to avoid the paparazzi, I bought this place so we can hang out there in peace without any public."

"Oh, you've got some pretty famous friends."

"Aren't they the ones who have a famous friend?"

Aylin couldn't help but laugh at his display of self-confidence,

"Sure, in the business world you may be famous."

"What is that supposed to mean? What about the rest of the world?"

"No one reads the business section of the magazines."

"You don't but others do."

"My friends also don't."

"You and your friends are just exceptional cases."

She smiled,

"Thank you. I will take that as a compliment."

"Now come on, let's go."

They went to his arcade place and played different games. Axel tried teaching Aylin table tennis, but it felt like she was playing baseball rather than table tennis. They then ordered pizza and along with eating, talking, and laughing, played bowling in which Aylin, being inexperienced, was having trouble bowling.

While it was Aylin's turn to play, she was selecting an appropriate bowling ball when Axel blurted out,

"You know I am not really this impatient but..."

At his statement, Eric and Lexi, who were standing not too far but not too close to them, burst out laughing.

"Looks like they don't agree with you."

Aylin added chuckling.

Axel glared at them and they both stopped laughing and went out of the hall. Clearing his throat, Axel continued to talk while Ayling was about to do her turn,

"What I meant to say was that I want to know your answer. Do you want to get married?"

Hearing his sudden question, made Aylin slip and fall as the bowling ball for the first time went straight to hit the pins and she got a strike. Axel gets up to help her up.

Axel seeing her unreactive face decides to convince her more,

"I know you may be thinking I must have some ulterior motives like those other guys or that I am your father's enemy, how could this be possible? But let me assure you..."

Before he could fully explain, Aylin looked straight at him and answered confidently,

"Sure. Let's get married."

"Huh?"

Axel becomes startled because he was 100% sure that she was going to turn him down. So this unexpected answer made him speechless.

Aylin grabs his hand, chuckles at his response, and adds,

"Why are you so surprised? You proposed and I said yes. Let's get married."

"If I knew you were going to say yes, I should have brought a ring and proposed properly."

"But how would you know my ring size?"

Aylin asked an unexpected question.

"Oh, you're right. I don't know that."

Aylin then takes off her ring from her ring finger and hands it to Axel.

"Here. For future references."

This makes both of them smile.

"Although I did agree, there is still a problem. My father."

"I was actually planning on telling you this before but talks are going on."

"What kind of talks?"

"A peace treaty between Abbott and Duncan. The whole business association has been working on it. Some are with it. Some are against it. And to strengthen this peace treaty, a proposal was made. A marriage between me and you. It was all discussed this morning. I thought you would have heard from your father."

"..no, he is out of the country so I didn't know but...did you know about this from before?"

"Yes. Because I was the one who proposed this in today's meeting."

"What?"

"I am trying to change my fate. Like you said, only I can determine my fate so that's what I am doing."

"What were you going to do if I rejected your proposal?"

"Well....I don't want to say I would have backed off because even now, no matter how many times I think about it, I am the best option you have got."

He smirked confidently

"Don't be too confident. You don't know. There are hundreds of men out there. There was also Toby. I could have chosen him too."

"Who Toby?"

He narrowed his eyes at this unfamiliar man's name.

"That Bob."

"You mean, Tobias. Look, you can't even get his name right."

"My tongue slipped because you're the one who keeps calling him with wrong names."

Axel smiled as he hugged her waist and brought her closer. His face leaned down towards her face.

"Well, my dear soon-to-be wife, you already said yes. It's too late to change your mind now."

Her hands were on his shoulders. She smiled and replied,

"Don't worry, I am not even planning to."

Their faces move closer and closer till their lips touch.
