One day, Dev and Ravindra were sitting and chatting, when out of the blue, Ravindra said, "Dev, main chahta hun ki Sonakshi ab humesha ke liye iss ghar mein aa jaye' Dev was started by his father's sudden statement. Ofcourse, he was madly in love with Sonakshi and had planned to marry her afterwards but this was certainly not the right time.

'Dad?? Aap yeh kya bol rahe hain?? Hum log shaadi kaise kar sakte hain??" he asked worriedly.

"Toh kya tum Sonakshi se shaadi nahiin karoge?? Usse kya tumne time pass ke liye rakha hai??" Ravindra soundd angry.

"Dadd..aisa kuch nahiin hai. Main usse zaroor shaadi karunga lekin abhi nahiin. Abhi toh hamari studies bhi poori nahiin hui hai. 4 months abhi bhi baaki hain final year khatm hone mein. Uske baad hum donon apne apne career par focus karna chahte hain. There is a still a long way to go for marriage"

"Dekho Dev...main tumhe abhi shaadi karne ke liye nahiin keh raha hun. Lekin kam se kam engagement hi karlo. Iss ghar ko dekho. Tumhe khalipan nahiin lagta?? Jab tak tumhaari Mom thi tab aisa nahiin tha. Par ab mujhe iss khaalipan ka ehsaas ho raha hai. Is liye main chahta hun ki tum donon atleast engagement karlo"

Dev thought for a while. He was able to understand his father's turmoil. Their home definitely needed a lady's presence who could nurture it. He finally said, "Theek hai Dad. Agar aap aisa chahte hain toh mujhe koi problem nahiin hai. Lekin aap Sonakshi aur Asha aunty se baat kar lijiyega iss baare mein'

Ravindra nodded and was overjoyed on hearing Dev's decision.

Next day, Ravindra went to meet Asha with their proposal and she gladly agreed to it. In fact, she herself was thinking on those lines. Ravindra returned with a warm smile and informed Dev about it. Dev was excited to know about his soon to be engagement and dialled Sonakshi's number. However, it was unreachable. Frustated, he hurriedly dialled her landline number. After a couple of rings, the call was received. Before anyone could speak, Dev started yelling, "Sona...tumhaara phone kyun nahiin lag raha?? Koi kaam ka nahiin hai. Usko toh tum utha ke phek do!! Jab bhi mujhe tumse tumse baat karni hoti hai, woh lagta hi nahiin hai!! Pata hai aaj Dad gaye the Aunty se baat karne...hamari engagement ke liye!! Aur tum kuch bol kyun nahiin rahi ho?? Hello?? Sona??

Asha giggled on the other side and said, "Sona nahiin...uski maa"

Dev bit his tongue over his foolishness and said hesitatingly, "Oh..aa..aap ho Aunty?? Mujhe laga ki Sonakshi hogi!!

Asha smiled and said, "Haan..woh toh mujhe pata chal hi gaya ki tumne kya socha!! Waise, Dev, Sona ghar par nahiin hai. Achanak Niti ke ghar pe stay over ka plan ban gaya isliye sab ladkiyan wahiin rahengi aaj raat"

"Ohhh..." Dev said dejectedly

"Koi baat nahiin beta...kal baat kar lena usse" she said affectionately

"Jee Aa..Aunty...umm...aur agar aap bura na maane toh kya main aapko Maa bula sakta hun??" Dev asked hopefully. He had craved for mother's love all his life and diddn't wanted to let go of any oppurtunity that came knocking his way.

"Haan beta kyun nahiin....ab toh tumhaara hak bhi hai. Tum donon ki engagement jo hone wali hai" she replied politely.

"Thank you Aunty...I mean Maa..ab main phone rakhta hun. Bye. Goodnight"

"Goodnight Dev" she answered and hung up the phone

Next Day,

(INDIAN INSTITUTE OF ARTS AND SCIENCES)

The class was settled and Professor was giving the lecture when Dev entered the classroom. He was late as he was awake the entire night thinking about Sonakshi. He had slept in the early hours of the morning.

The Proffesor allowed him to come in and he quickly rushed to his seat but not before passing a chit to Sonakshi who was sitting on the first seat.

She looked here and there and after making sure that no one is watching her, opened it. "Sweetheart, meet me at our secret staircase after this lecture"

Sonakshi blushed at the word 'Sweetheart' and decided trying to pay attention to the class. Point to be noted- Trying!!

After the lecture ended, Sonakshi, along with Niti,Elena and Tanu was going to the library when suddenly she was pulled with a force to the adjacent classroom and the person pressed her mouth so that she cant shout.

"Devvv!! Yeh kya hai?? Aise kaun kheechta hai??" Sonakshi said frowning. She was still breathing heavily

"Main kheechta hun" he replied mischievously and pinned her to the wall.

"Devv..." she whispered as he tucked a strand

"Tum aaj mujhse milne kyun nahiin aayi?? Mujhe tumse kitni important baat karni thi"! he said

Sonakshi figured out what he wanted to speak about as Asha had already told her, but in order to tease him said, "Accha?? Kya??" she asked faking innocence

But Dev was intelligent enough to understand that Sonakshi was purposely teasing him.

"Dekho Sona....natak mat karo. Mujhe pata hai ki Aunty ne tumhe bata diya hai hamari hone wali engagement ke baare mein" he spoke annoyed and Sonakshi had a hard time controlling her laugh.

"Aisa kya?? Mujhe toh pata hi nahiin tha"

Dev now had enough and tightened his grip around her waist, causing her to come closer to him. There was barely a few centimeters gap between them.

"Ab bolo...kya keh rahi thi tum?? Tumhe kuch nahiin pata" he spoke huskily whispering into her ears.

Sonakshi shivered because of their close proximity and stammered, "Haa...haan..pata tha. And am really....really...very...happy"

Dev smirked as he finally successded in making her spill the beans. He loosened his grip and said, "Good. Now be a good girl and give me a kiss". He stated it as if its the simplest thing on Earth to do.

Sonakshi's eye's widened in shock and she asked, "What??"

"Aur nahiin toh kya!! Kal raat se tumse baat karne ki koshish kar raha hun par kisi na kisi wajah se ho nahiin payi. I deserve a compensation atleast" replied Dev

Sonakshi was at loss of words seeing his 'besharmi' and thought for a while.

"Theek hai. But first, you need to close your eyes" she said

"Oh God!! Kitne nakhre hote tum ladkiyon ke!! Fine...I am closing them" and closed his eyes.

Sensing the oppurtunity, Sonakshi quickly pecked his cheeks and escaped from there. Before Dev could register what had happened, she had already vanished.

"Ahh...this girl will be the death of me" he smiled and ran his hand through his hair

After the collge was over, Dev and Sonakshi were seated in the car and Dev was bubbling with excitement on the news that very soon they would be engaged. However, Sonakshi was lost in deep thoughts.

"Kya hua Sona?? Kis soch mein khoyi ho??" he asked anxiously

"Kuch nahiin Dev. Main bas yeh soch rahi thi ki time kitna jaldi nikal gaya. I had never thought that we would end up falling in love with each other." she smiled and reminsced all those incidents when Dev used to trouble her.

"Haan...woh toh hai. Shuru Shuru mein maine tumhe kitna pareshaan kiya tha naa...(and he chuckled) but then we became friends and ultimately lovers. Aur ab dekho jald hi hamari engagement bhi ho jayegi" Dev said with a huge smile.

"Hmmm...kabhi kabhi toh yeh sab bilkul ek dream jaisa lagta hai. Aur shayad isliye darr lagta hai ki kahiin hamara pyaar kho na jaye" she said gloomily

"Sonaa...tum aisa kyon soch rahi ho??" Dev asked astonished and cupped her face.

"I promise that we will always be together and support each other through all circumstances. Our love will last till eternity and nothing would change that." he spoke with utmost sincerity in his eyes.

"Promise??" Sonakshi asked while placing her palm in front of him.

"Promise" Dev said smilingly and placed his hand abover hers.

To ease the serious and sentimental atmosphere, Dev said, "Par ek problem hai...!! Promise toh kar liya but its not sealed. Toh usse seal bhi karna hoga"

"Seal?? Kaise??" asked Sonakshi

"Aise..." and Dev smiled and reduced the distance between them and gently placed his lips over her soft ones. Sonakshi was too shocked to react but finally gave in to his demand and reciprocated passionately and both of them immersed into a blissful oblivion as they promised each other to support, to care, and to love unconditionally till eternity....

But with the honking of the cars, Sonakshi came back to her senses and pushed Dev away while he whined like a kid and made a bad face.

"Devvvv....yeh kya kar rahe the tum??" she asked faking anger

"Kya kar raha tha?? Promise ko seal kar raha tha" he replied mischieviously

Sonakshi blushed and smacked his arm. "Bade aaye promise ko seal karne wale!!! Chup chap mujhe ghar chod do"

"Aghh....why do you always have to go home?? I cant wait to get married to you. Phir toh tum humesha mere paas hi rahogi" he said dreamily.

"Abhi tak toh engagement bhi nahiin hui hai aur tum shaadi tak pahunch gaye?? Aasman se utro, zameen par aao aur mujhe ghar chodo" she said sarcastically

"Haan...haan..theek hai" and ignited the car to life and drove towards her house.
