SUMMARY:

For as long as Emma could remember it had been her and her grandmother against the world. Ever since her parents died in a car crash, it had been her grandma who had baked cookies with her, read her stories before bed time and held her as she cried. Emma was a sweet girl with too many dreams and could never have been prepared for the horrors that the world was about to unleash. Lucky for her, her grandmother did not stop protecting her that day and got the two of them safely to the fortified nursing home down town.

The men protecting the home scared her, but she knew being brave was the only thing that would get her through the challenges ahead and so Emma never complained. And even though they were low on resources, Emma believed them to be safe, she believed they would be okay. She managed to forget the danger that lurked outside.

But when her grandmother came back from a run with a bite on her arm, Emma swore she would never be assume she was safe again. She cared for her dying grandmother, crying by the side of her bed as she watched the life slowly leave her but her tears dried quickly when she was startled by a strange boy standing in the door opening, watching her with his beautiful eyes.

He had been captured by Guillermo and brought to the home. It may have seem like a disaster to him, a cruel joke the world had thrown his way, but Emma would later describe it as a beautiful disaster and it really was...

NOTES:

- So I recently read the Lunar Chronicles and completely fell in love with the character Cress and so the idea of Emma Davis was born. If you haven't read the books that's totally fine, I'll try to explain her character the best I can: Emma (much like Cress) is a girl who likes to fantasize a lot. She can create whole worlds in her mind and tell amazing stories. She is innocent and sweet, basically everything you can't be in an apocalypse. But she really wants to be brave and so creates fantasies to make it easier, for example she pretends she's in a movie and plays the part of a badass cop. That way, so she's able to deal with everything around her and manages to be brave. Please don't make her stupid or naive, because she is neither of those things. She's just innocent and has to learn a lot.

- And this is also where I think the focuse should be throughout the story. How emma learns to be brave on her own, instead of through the fantasies she creates in her mind.

- Her relationship with her grandmother is very wholesome. They are each other's family and will take on the world together if need be. And where Emma gets easily scared, her grandmother is a steady rock. Grandma is a total badass and protects her granddaughter the best she can. So when the world ends, she manages to get Emma and herself safely to the nursery home that is protected by Guillermo and his "gang". Emma is pretty intimidated by their weapons and such and tries to help them survive by caring for the elderly instead. But her grandmother does the opposite and goes on runs to find food and weapons. And one time she comes back wounded...

- Emma is heartbroken and never leaves her grandmothers side and so misses the commotion outside. She doesn't even notice Glenn until he's standing behind her, a little confused himself from the fact that the gang is actually protecting people. He sees why Emma is crying and at first doesn't say a word, just sits down next to her but eventually they start talking and Emma tells him how her grandmother had always taken care of her. But their conversation is interrupted by grandma, who takes Glenn's hand and makes him promise he will take care of Emma. Then she dies.

- Emma tries to put her grandmother down but can't bring herself to do it and so Glenn does it, Then they go outside together to burry her and when they come back inside, Rick and the others have arrived. Glenn pleas with Rick to take Emma with them, because he's Glenn and could never break a promise, not even to a stranger. Rick is hesitant but Glenn won't leave without her and so she goes along.

- I think it would be really cute if Emma quickly develops a crush on Glenn, partly because of the fact that she only feels safe around him and is really scared of Daryl, Shane, Rick and basically all the tough looking guys (imagine the funny scenes that this would create). This won't last forever though. I can see Rick become like a father figure for her, maybe she could always remain hesitant around Daryl, because let's face it, the man won't try to be nice to her but eventually (if you feel like it) it could turn into a Beth-like situation, where he is like a big brother to her. I think Glenn would quickly start to like her too but what would make it fun is that they're both too shy to act on their feelings. So it would take a while for them to actually tell each other how they feel.

- Also please don't make Maggie a bitch. I think she and Emma could be great friends and there's no need to have any sort of hatred between them. If you feel like it, you could create a completely new love interest for Maggie. maybe someone who lived in Woodbury and came to live at the prison? Or someone in Alexandria? Just don't make her a jealous bitch because she can't have Glenn.

- It's completely up to you how long you write the story and how you let it end. I don't think letting Glenn survive is a great option because of the impact his death had on the story. But maybe you could end it with Emma's death and have them reunite in some sort of heaven as epilogue (which I think could be done great and I have a scenario in my mind so if you want the story to end that way let me know. I can tell you personally what it is so that will remain a surprise for everyone else :) The end is completely open for you to write!
