It's been a few days since you've set foot in the palace. Barely a week has passed and weirdly you were excused for the day- thanks to some royal summit Nadia had to attend..

So Here you were back in your shop. It's been far long since you've set foot here.Besides that incident with
*cough cough* Doctor Jules.(showing off his man tits in the middle of the day) You... didn't really want to remember it.

You soon arrived with a knapsack slung on your shoulders.
"No Julian In Sight" breathing a sigh of relief, you quietly chanted an incantation. Whorls of magic brilliantly glowed on the front door in the sign of Master Asra's.

Asra. God, how much you've missed him..A flash His face before he left flooded your mind for half a second.
He has to leave everytime something actually happens.
He has to accumulate his petty secrets from you, Why is that?
Just why did you have to go.

As you entered, a comforting aura washes over you. A familiar cool brush on your right arm caught your attention. "Hiss~" It was Faust, Asra's familiar and your lil'bean. You had to smuggle her out of the palace since she was starting to feel stuffy.
Oh Faust, hasn't Asra spoiled you..

After scritching her chin for a good measure, you picked up a dusty flask. "Time to get down to business"

An hour into your springcleaning you heard a knock on your door,wait-Pounding. Hasty Pounding. Did you forget to put out the light again?
The pounding persisted, tearing you away from your thoughts.

   Another Nadia perhaps?
Hands fidgety, you scrambled to unlock the front door. Mind you, you could've sworn you heard clanking outside.
For a second, your heart jumped.

A looming figure blocked the afternoon sunlight from streaming through the doorframe. Petrifiyingly stormy green eyes stared into you. Raven black hair obscuring those eyes under a tattered dark grey hood that has seen better days.

Ripples of half hidden muscle clad in torn fabric and leather buckles
criss crossed on the torso. As your eyes traced up, you took a glimpse of a massive spiked collar clasped on his neck, the chains connected to it somehow..broken. You need not have to observe further.

You know him. Your memory is quite hazy, but you do remember him Nonetheless. From the encounter the day you left for the palace in the morning mist, from the memories of Asra.Another thing you've noticed was his..Uhm, pessimism.

"Ah,er-M-Muriel?" you stuttered out.That..was all you managed to croak out in the moment.
..No answer..
Gathering courage you turned your head to meet him in the eye when otherwise you could've shyed away from the intimidation. Clearly, this man was huge.
"What do you want Muriel"

"You came back here" rumbled distant thunder. "Weren't you busy with..Fooling the city?" Sucking in a breath,he gritted ever so subtly. Ouch. He definitely wasn't taking the upcoming festivities very nicely.

"Not now, not today. The countess is currently overseas.." you trailed off from uncertainty.  This. This is torture. You were beggining to suffer under his scrutinising gaze. What does he want anyway?

Suddenly amidst the growing awkwardness of staring at eachother, you blurted. "I-I don't understand you. I just Don't understand You.
"E-Everytime we meet, all you say are  metaphors a-and pessimism. And warnings. And..And other s..tuff.."

Your voice faltering by the second in the attempt to break the ice. You were starting to regret it. Anxiety creeping up behind you while the seconds felt like forever. Face warming up, you were nervous.
..What will he say now?

He just stood there, seemingly uneffected. Seemingly quite. But then, he.He smiled? His lips curved slightly showing a small subtle, bittersweet smile. Quite unlike the response you predicted. Looking down, he extended his right hand slowly. His left reaching yours, followed by a small clattering.

"I hope you can understand me,"
His left hand caressed yours, a sensation birthed from the contact of skin on skin. His right one however was balled, holding something.
Opening slightly above your palm, he handed you something..Delicate.
"Even if it confuses you more.Y/N."

It revealed a tiny stalk of forget-me-nots. Dainty pale pink and blue flowers starkly contrasted the dull grey cloak. You set your eyes on it. Hands quivering as you twirled it around, marvelling it. You were at a lost of words. What was the meaning of this? I just don't understand. they're just-

"..Beautiful"  breathed a whisper. You looked up, the sun was about to set, the vermilion sunlight caressing the rose coloured streets. Then you saw him leaving, the clatter of chains and heavy footfalls grew fainter, and fainter. A distance beggining to painfully form between you and him.

"No, Wait!-" Your mind screamed out. "-Muriel!" you dashed after him, gasping his name. He stops in his tracks not ever looking back. He retained his cold gaze on the setting sun.

You gently tapped his shoulder, Muriel reluctantly turned to you. Slightly bending to meet you muscle to muscle. His gaze softened as he breathed out, slowly.

   "...."

Your left hand reached out to his visage, trying to caress his right cheek. Your eyes gazed deep into his, searching for something. For a meaning. For a moment, your breaths intertwined and no sooner, your lips met his.

A hint of myrrh and burnt incense danced on your tongue, the world around froze in an eternal sunset.
In a pleasant daze, faint galloping was heard in the distance. Muriel gently drew back. Clearly flushed, clearly breathless.

"Y/N. I-have to go." He whispered,
Half-lidded eyes gazing into yours word-for-word. Half sorrowful, half hopeful. Breaking away contact, he fled the scene and disappeared into the shadows. The palace escort is drawing near, almost time to go.

You just stood there in a daze.

The sweet aftertaste of burnt sandalwood and the forget-me-nots was all that was left of him.
