There he is again. He's never been so close to me before, his shell facing me and his long red strands from his bandana resting below his neck.

His dark green skin matches the bushes I'm hiding in. Its so damn hard to breathe normally when he's literally in front of me. My sweaty hands put down the binoculars, and I cover my mouth from squeaking like a little girl.

"Fucking hell," he murmurs under his breath. "Its so damn hot."

I stiffle a laugh, my eyes dancing in amusement as I watch the turtle pacing back and forth.

Judging by his actions, he's waiting on someone who is obviously taking a long time. Immediate anger flushes through me. How can someone blow him off?

Then she appears. Mona Lisa, the obnoxious lizard, steps into my view. She gives him a huge smile when she spies him. Her brown ponytail sways in the air as she runs to him.

"Hey Raphie," she purrs. "Are you ready?"

"Whatever," he replies.

A piece of my heart breaks. My dry mouth falls open and I lose balance on my knees. I collapse behind the bushes behind me and for a moment I catch him turning around.

But Mona doesn't give him a chance to come near me. She pulls him away too quickly and a single tear rolls down my cheek.

Oh Raphael, I'm too stupid to think you can ever be mine. I guess that's why they call me the lovesick fool.
