Trigger warnings- Swearing, cheating mentioned and a break up.

I can't believe what just happened. Well..I say it just happened but it's actually been almost a week since we visited my parents. Still, I can't believe that they accepted me.

My mum texts me every day to ask how I am and to ask for Liam as well. It feels great knowing that she really does care. Edward also texts me daily when he doesn't pass me in the hallways to check up on me too.

Now, Liam and I are planning to visit his parents. We've been trying to ask his dad if I can come over for the past few days and Liam texts me saying he's finally gotten an answer.

Liam- Hello sweetheart, my dad finally texted me back. We're all good to go round my house on Thursday. Apparently he's got some meetings to attend the rest of the week...

I text back eagerly.

Imogen- Hey! That's great news! I can't wait to meet him. And don't worry, I'll be there to hold your hand through the whole thing.

Liam- Don't you worry about that. Even looking at your face is enough to brighten the worst situations.

Imogen- Aww such a romantic aren't you.

Liam- I do try ;)

Imogen- I'm afraid I can't talk for too long right now. I've got some maths homework to do.

Liam- I can't believe you're cheating on me with quadratic equations!

Imogen- I'm sorry! If it makes you feel better, you're way more fun to hang out with.

Liam- I should hope so! Well, I'll text you later before you go to sleep. Don't work too hard.

Imogen- I won't. Love you x

Liam- I love you more <3 xxx

Imogen- Ok you win x

Liam- :D

I settle into the equations and try my best to not think about Liam. Which is actually more difficult than it sounds. Sometimes, I imagine what he'd say if he was with me right now. I like to think I know him so well I can predict what he'd say in the moment right now if he was with me all the time.

My thoughts are interrupted by a knock at my door. I throw it open, expecting to see Liam, and I can't help the smile that drops from my face as I see Chloe standing there instead.

"Wow," she says sarcastically. "I help you win your boyfriend back, and now you drop your smile when you see it's me at your door and not him? Rude, girl, rude."

"Sorry," I say, putting on a fake smile. "We were just texting and I hoped he'd come over to help with my maths homework."

"You mean distract you from your maths homework?"

I laugh, "you know me too well. Anyway, enough about me, where's Jem?"

Now for the first time in her life, Chloe goes silent.

I pull her into my room, shut the door and guide her to my bed. Even after we've sat down, she's still silent. "Chlo, you can tell me anything. What happened?"

She bursts into tears and spits out, "s-she's been cheating on me!"

I pull her into a hug. "My god, Chlo, I'm so sorry. How did you find out?"

"Your step brother told me."

"Edward told you?" I say questioningly. "How did he find out?"

Instead of telling me, Chloe thrusts her phone at me. It's so her, with its pink, glittery phone case. And of course, there's a pride flag front and centre, since she's never ashamed to show herself off to the world. She's already unlocked it and I see a text conversation on the screen.

Edward- Hi Chloe. This is Edward, Imogen's step brother. I hope you don't mind that I got your number off her phone, but I needed to confess something to you.

Chloe- Hey Edward! No, I don't mind one bit. It's nice to finally meet you, even if it's through a phone XD

Edward- Yeah... well, it's about Jem...your girlfriend....

Chloe- Oh, what about her? Do you know her?

Edward- ...This is going to be more difficult than I thought.

Chloe- Edward, pardon my french but what the fuck are you talking about?

Edward-...Jem messaged me about three months ago and asked me to go on a date with her. She told me that you and her had broken up and she was single and was interested in me.

Chloe- ...

Edward- I said yes because I thought she was a sweet girl and also since her dad's a lawyer, it would please my parents. I had no idea she was still with you and I swear I would never have said yes if I knew. I hope you can forgive me. I know I will never forgive myself for the heartbreak I've probably caused, but Imogen just told me that you and Jem have just celebrated your 1 year anniversary, and I figured the rest out for myself. I would be happy to meet up with you at any time to make things up to you, with lunch or anything else to make this a little better.

Chloe- I forgive you. This wasn't your fault. You don't owe me anything. I appreciate you telling me. It was really chivalrous.

Edward- I've dumped her if you wanted to know. As soon as I heard from Imogen that you two were still dating, I dumped her straight away. I won't pry into your thoughts, but I'm here if you need me.

Chloe- I've just asked her if we can meet so I can break up with her.

Edward- You deserve better. From what I've heard from Imogen, you're a great friend. Would you like me to go with you to break up with Jem, or I can wait for you somewhere?

Chloe- Thank you, but I can do this.

Edward- Good for you! I hope you find someone else someday. I'll be at the other end of the phone if you ever need anything.

Chloe- Thank you :)

"Oh, Chloe I'm so sorry," I say, pulling her back into a hug.

"Please don't be angry at Edward. He did a very brave thing."

"I know. I'm proud of him."

"You should be. He's really sweet. He'd be exactly like my type if I was into boys."

We both laugh since we know already that Edward is not straight. We're all just waiting for the day he tells me and our parents at this point.

"Can I help you with your maths homework and we can watch a movie after?" Chloe asks.

"Sure. Do you mind if I ask Liam to come over too?"

"That depends. Does he like romance movies?"

"He does, as long as they have a happy ending."

"Are there any happy endings?"

And for once, I don't have an answer.

After texting Liam, he agrees straight away. I make sure Chloe is ok with me telling him about the break up, and he's already threatening to corner Jem and confront her about the whole thing, which I find adorable and even Chloe is a little jealous.

I've no idea how someone like Liam actually exists. I mean, I know there's that saying that there's someone on earth for everyone, but most people don't meet their someone when they're seventeen. Liam is just the perfect guy. Most people see him as a bad boy or a rebel, but he isn't. He's just been branded as that his whole life so now he doesn't bother trying to change. He thinks it's too late. I was the one who gave him a chance to show his soft side, and that's why he fell in love with me. I gave him a chance to be the person he wants to be. And I will never regret that.

I think we all dream of the day where we find 'The One'. Everyone watches Disney movies and either fawns over the princes or princesses. Some people find their true love when they're young, others find them much later, but we all hope we'll find them sooner rather than later.

When you find the one for you, I feel like one thing I always tell people is you should be willing to make sacrifices and be open to changing things. Sometimes there'll be times where one of you needs a bit of time to yourself, and anyone who truly loves you will allow you to have that time.

Thankfully, Liam and I haven't reached the stage where we need to isolate ourselves. Of course, our mini break up was unexpected, but in reality we've sort of brushed it off as a misunderstanding.

All we need to do now to make our relationship the best it possibly can be, is get me and his parents to get along as well as he does with mine. And honestly, part of me can't wait, and part of me wants to crawl into a hole and stay there with Liam for eternity. In a place where no one can get to us, and there's no one to judge us. There'd be just him and me, and my world would be complete. But maybe, just maybe, there's a way for that to happen without disappearing. We can only hope.
