I was with my best friend, Lucas and he was on the phone with his girlfriend, Riley Matthews, my other best friend but not as close as I am with Lucas. She was yelling at him because he said he was cheating on her with Dora, a fucking cartoon, like girl calm down. She just doesn't understand his jokes like I do.

I'm in my room
It's a typical Tuesday night
I'm listening to the kind of music she doesn't like

I was in my room with Lucas and Riley listening to 'Powerful' by Jessie Smollett and Alicia Keys. (check that song out it's amazing and can relate to a lot of people, like me) Lucas and I love that song because it relates to us. I was mouthing the words and looked over at Riley. She was making a disgusted face.

"Something wrong Riley?" I asked rolling my eyes.

"I don't like this song, it's too...much." She says with a nasty face. Lucas looked at Riley.

"We can change it, Maya change the song." I look over at him, what did he just say?

"Excuse me?" I ask with attitude.

"Maya. Change. The. Song." He says slowly.

"Boy, don't play with me." I look at her and clench my jaw.

"Maya," He starts, I put my hand out.

"Get out." I say, he has a shocked look on his face.

"Look, I forgot that my mom said no people can come over so, please get out." I say looking at the ground. I know he knows I'm lying.

"Well,bye Maya." She says skipping out the door. Lucas stares at me while I look at the ground.

"Lucas, babe, come on." Riley says back at the door. He looks at her and walks out, I shut the door and turn on the music putting it on repeat.

But she wears short skirts
I wear T-shirts
She's cheer captain
And I'm on the bleachers

I look over at Riley cheering, their outfits were so short that when you bent over you could see her underwear. I on the other hand like to keep my clothes on so I wear longer clothes. It was a football game so I came to support Lucas, she just had to be a cheerleader. (wink wink) To make their little Rucas ship better, their both captains. I just sat on the bleachers watching them.

I was at my desk daydreaming, it was the same daydream I have. Lucas finally realizing that I'm the one he wants. I know that'll never happen but hey, a girl can dream.

I was over Lucas's house, I had my head on his lap while he was playing with my hair. When people play with my hair, I tend to fall asleep. (Anyone else relate to this?) I just begin to think, why can't he see that I'm the one. I understand him, I've known him all my life. Wait-what if he sees me as a...sister?

Lucas and I were having a best friend day, we decided to go to our favorite park. He wore the jeans I bought him for our 11 year friend-versary. It's like 14 now, (They're 17) it looks like capris on him.

"Remind me why your wearing those again." I say giggling.

"Well, you see I lush you and I want to show it." He says in a baby voice. He then picks me up bridal style making me laugh and we walk like that to the park bench. He then let's me down and sits down. I was about to sit next to him when he put his hands on my waist guiding me onto his lap, I smile and stay there. Man, this is easy.

Lucas was arguing with his girlfriend, again, about who knows what. He's been so sad lately, he never smiles anymore. He hangs up on her and runs a hand through his hair frustrated.

"Hey, cheer up." I say.

"I'm fine Maya." He says, I know him. He's lying. I smirk and stand up.

"Why you always lyin? Why you always lyin? Oh my God, stahp fuckin' lyin." I say weirdly. He smiles his award winning smile.

"There's the sugar." I say pointing to his mouth. Why is he even with her?

She wears high heels
I wear sneakers
She's cheer captain and I'm on the bleachers

I hear the clanking if those annoying heels, Riley's coming.

"Hey Maya." She says with a bright smile.

"Hey Riley." I say sighing, she looks behind me and I turn around to see her glance, it's just Farkle. I back at her and she's biting her lip.

"Riley!" I say snapping her out if her trance, she looks at me and blinks.

"What did you want?" I ask, she scratches her hair.

"Oh yeah, do you want to stay for my game so we can hang out." She suggests. I nod.

"Sure, bye cheer captain." I say to her, she smiles and walks to her dad's class.

I started crying, he just doesn't get it does he? I fucking love him I mean-wait, I love him? I don't even know what love is, right?

I was at Lucas's back door waiting in him, we were going to a party. I knocked one more and I saw him coming.

"Hey Maya, you ready?" He asks, I nod.

"Okay, just let me lock up." He says locking the door and taking my small fragile hand into his big strong ones. I smile at him as we walk to the party, I'm glad he took me as his date and not Riley.

I was at writing in my notebook when I thought of something, the time Lucas came over my house so I could cheer him up. I danced, and sung, and cooked. We talked about what we wanted to be when we grew up and how much we know each other. I then played our favorite song that he introduced me too, Powerful.

I was with Lucas, he told me that he's thinking if breaking up with Riley, I was excited but then again, it's not like he likes me anyway. He just needs to know that it's me that would be great with him.

Lucas POV

I was at Maya's back door, I knocked three times and her mother answered.

"Hey Lucas, Maya's upstairs." She says smiling at me, I smile and she let's me in. I thank her and run to Maya's room. I'm finally gonna tell her I love her.

"Maya listen to me." I say walking to her, this is it.

"What Lucas, I'm busy." She says setting down her guitar. I take her small soft hands and lace our fingers.

"Maya, I've been holding this in but, I love you. I always have, I went out with Riley to forget about you but I couldn't, she likes Farkle anyway. I just really-" She cut off my rambling by kissing me, I was shocked so I didn't kiss back. She released with wide eyes.

"I'm sorry I panicked and I-" Now it was my turn to cut her off by kissing her. She then kissed back, and it was full of love. I smiled into the kiss and so did she, I then pressed my forehead onto hers.

"Will you be my girlfriend Maya?" I ask, she smiles and nods. I then lift her and spin her around.
