Noel wakes up one day an finds out that he has a large lump on his neck.

he shrugs it off and goes to eat breakfast, thinking it's a bug bite.

he starts eating, but realizes he is not hungry anymore. 

Noel says, "mom, i have this lump on my neck, and i'm not hungry! what is wrong with me?"

she stands up and takes a look at his neck. "Oh dear... this isn't right."

she shakes her had and says, "go to school today and go to the nurse if it gets worse. i think it is a bug bite or something..."

noel;s mom takes him to school and when he is going upstairs, he experiences more fatigue and shortness of breath than usual. 

"i should go to the nurse... " he huffs.

he goes to the nurse and she tells him to call his mom. 

noel and his mom drive to the doctor's office. 

he tells the doctor all of his problems while the doctor writes down words on a paper. 

the doctor nods and tells noel he had Hodgkin's disease which is a caner that attacks the lymphatic system. 

she then tells noel and his mother what procedures need to take place for him to start the healing process and the cost. 

noel's mom sobs, fearing her son's life and regrets she didn't take his symptoms seriously. 

noel hugs him mom, trying to comfort her and tell her that he is going to be okay and it is not her fault. 

she holds him at arm's length and says, " we're going to get you fixed up my son."

noel goes through chemotherapy and radiation therapy. he is in the first stage of Hodgkin's disease, and cam be recovered to full health since the disease was identified at an early stage. noel gets a physical exam, history check, blood tests, and a biopsy. he also loses 45 pounds because of the disease. 

(5 MONTHS LATER) noel makes a full recovery and is free from Hodgkin's. for some people HD may never go away completely. some treatment side effects might last a long time or might not even show up after you contracted HD. Hodgkin's is most common in 15-18 year old and 30 year olds if it springs up again.
