I'm sorry I've been absent!

For an explanation, look at my last chapter/authors note in my books "Haven't You Heard" and "The Famous Rogue vs. The Possessive Alpha"

not edited

Dalton's POV***

"This does not make sense," Kaz said, huffing out a frustrated sigh. I stared at the pictures of Carter. I'd forced her to give them to me as soon as she climbed down from the tree. Not only was I annoyed of the fact someone had taken pictures of her without my knowing, it both angered me that I was annoyed at all and that she didn't seem to ever listen to me.

I'd deliberately told her not to climb, but what did she do? Climb even higher. I suppose it's a good thing she did for we wouldn't have been able to find her pictures, leading us a step closer to who this intruder is and what they want. However I was an Alpha, a leader. Everything I say, goes. I'm obeyed without question, but Carter comes crashing head first into my world, slowly turning my life up side down. Granted my life was always a wayword rollercoaster, she continues to dash me through loops.

I've never had this much of a challenge, except for those many years ago.

Shaking my head, I refused to think of the past.

"What do we know?" I challenged Kaz. She looked at me blankly, holding up a finger.

"This person shows an interest in Carter Blake," She held up a second finger, "but doesn't seem to want to kill her or he or she would have already by now." She held up a third, "We're being toyed with, and it seems to all circle to Carter for some reason."

"Sir," Kaz said quietly. I turned to face her, putting the pictures down. I knew where she was going with that soft voice. Agitation worked it's way into my body as I prepped for her to speak.

"Do you think this has relativity to Rebecca?" A shrill tremor shook itself down my spine and I narrowed my eyes at Kaz. Her grey stare refused to waver.

"You know the law I've made." I said deeply and gruffly, turning my back to Kaz.

"I understand all too well," She replied, seeming sad. I squeezed my eyes shut.

"I will not talk about the past."

"You may have to. Carter will find out. The truth, like secrets, have a strange way of popping up and being revealed. You know that most better than anyone here."

I said nothing.

She let out a sigh when she realised I was not going to talk about this with her.

"Where is Carter?" I asked.

"With Gavin."

I growled ever so lightly in throat, my wolf beginning to pace in annoyance.

"Kaz, arrange a perimeter scout. Take who you want, even the juniors. They've trained enough."

"Yes, Alpha," She replied, her footsteps dissapearing out of the door. Drained, I sat down in my chair, and eyed the pictures.

There were 3. One was in my house here in Nebraska, where she was simply standing her new room, stuitcases strawn on the ground in a messy fashion. The picture was taken down low, as if they were hiding in a bush or low tree. She was staring out the window, her eyes gleaming with a strange nostalgic look.

The second picture, she was with Gavin in his game room, laughing. Gavin was cut out of the picture and it was of her profile, the controller in her delecate hands.

The third was at my old house for some strange reason before I had even met her, and she was trying to steal the Code. She was hiding underneath my work desk, her eyes wide and afraid, and her spine crouched over.

Who was this person, and what was their interest in my mate?

Carter's POV***

"So, why did you take me to a creepy corn field?" I asked Gavin as we continued to stroll through the fields. He smiled.

"I came here a lot as a kid. Lots of good memories." He replied.

"Oh," I replied shortly.

"Gavin, stop," I told him. He stared at me and stopped mid walking.

"What's up?" He asked looking concerned.

"I miss my family. I miss my grouchy grandma who had no problem giving me away like a lost toy they'd lost care for. I miss my best friend Nat who's simply my favorite worry-wart. I even miss messing with my arch nemesis Taylor Quinne and her unoriginal groupies. I miss my home," I told him.

"I know and I'm sorry, but I can't do anything about that, and I really wish I could."

"That's where you are wrong," I told him. He raised a brow.

"Your pack is strong, and with great strength comes great financial support from allied packs, right?" I questioned.

"Um, where are you going with this?" He asked.

"You can buy me a ticket to go home. Dalton won't know for a while-"

"Are you insane?" He asked flatly.

"Well no but I-"

"No, Carter, I won't do that. I'd cross a lot of puddles for you but this is a damn sea and my brother would kill me."

"Gavin please I need to go back. I don't belong here."

"No, I'm sorry Carter," He said, placing his hand on my cheek. Angry, I jerked my face to the side.

"Carter," He called lightly.

"No. Leave me alone," I snarled before turning around and stomping farther into this God forsaken field.

"Carter wait!" He called but I merely began to run farther into this patch of 10 feet tall wheat.

Tears gathered in my eyes but I wiped them with haste. I needed to go home. The more I stayed here the more I felt like I was going crazy. I was sheltered, alone and unwanted by the one person who is supposed to want me! Staying here was driving me crazy!

I took another step, but a hand suddenly went over my mouth, someone lifting me off the ground from behind. I kicked and let out a muffled scream, bringing my hands to the one who grabbed me, but something that felt like a rag covered my nose and even went into my mouth. I held my breath, though I had none to save up. Someone was trying to kidnap me! Adrenaline kicked as I squirmed with intensity

I jerked my elbow and hit them, I'm guessing on the cheek for they let me go and I dropped, but I did not hesitate to begin my run. I was fast. That was all I had going for me right. I rubbed my nose and my mouth, making sure to wipe off the chloroform as I pumped arms and legs.

I turned around swiftly to look for the kidnapper, and saw him nowhere. I quicky turned around, a man with glowing amber eyes staring at me. My eyes widened but he only smiled. Suddenly, something hard hit me over the head, and the world around me dissipated into a numbing black.
