Somewhere in Nevada...

The sheriff sits at his desk in deafening silence, hands on the surface of the desk and his eyes never looking up from his hands.
It had been several days since the incident and the guilt was eating him alive, a man dressed in blue with rainbow bandages had come out of nowhere one day. He couldn't believe the things he did, offering presents and candy to the grunts that worked in this building. 'No one here in Nevada could have been this nice, it could have been a trick to let our guard down' he told himself...

Seeing a teddybear in the mans hands the sheriff only thought of the most logical thing, believed there was a bomb inside. Someone trying to off him once and for all.

Yet once the man was shot dead and the bear ripped open to see nothing but regular cotton, it was almost heart breaking...
He had caused the death of a innocent grunt, one who genuinely wanted peace and not murder in this blood stained wasteland. After the explosion that was caused by hank j. Wimbleton himself it was hard to rebuild and heal from the event, was it karma? Was it the man punishing him from across the grave? He couldn't tell which.

His heart hurt, his eyes burned from tears of his guilt, and hes exhausted from losing sleep. It's supposed to be normal for a grunt to pass every day, either by accidents or by the anti-A.A.H.W, hell even from the auditor himself. Still he couldn't help but ask why over all did he feel such a way from this loss.
He took off his hat and placed it on the desk with a sigh, a hand running through his hair.
He never even knew the mans name, never had the chance to say he was sorry, not even a proper burial as his body was lost in the explosion.

All he could do is wallow in his guilt and tears...

.....

A figure stands outside the building standing proudly with a smile on his face, he had just gotten back for a couple of days now and now that his wounds have healed into beautiful scars he finally has his chance to do unfinished business.

He walked inside with a skip in his step giving the guards a neatly wrapped gift as he does so, some grunts had recognized him from before and gave him a hug. If he could have smiled any bigger he would, the feeling of hostility no longer present in the halls of the building, only smiling faces and happy 'hellos' which made the mans heart grow warm. He finally stopped at a set of double doors, looking up to see the words 'sheriffs office' on a bright grey sign.

Its time to finish what he started...

He gripped the doorknob and opened the door slowly as to not frighten the sheriff again, a small creak coming from the doors hinges. The sheriff does not dare to look up, the tears in his eyes will show weakness and no leader should cry in front of anyone "what do you want...?" The sheriff forced to say, his voice slightly cracked much to his dismay. There was no hostility in his tone or annoyance, it sounded tired, depressed even.

There was a pause before something in the sheriffs peripheral vision was set in front of him, slightly looking up at it he noticed it was a teddy bear. Its body was a clean color pink with big button eyes, it holds a heart in its arms with a stitched smile. The sheriff stares confused, before looking up further to see a familiar face.

It was the same young man from before, alive and well. Stickers placed over the places where he was once shot, having that same smile on his face "i wanted to give you your gift" he finally spoke, answering the sheriffs previous question. The sheriff stares in shock, how was he here? He was sure the man standing before him was dead.
Hes got to be imagining this, maybe it was the lack of sleep...

The sheriff rubbed his eyes and pinches himself to see if hes seeing things or dreaming. No the man in rainbow bandages is still here, he was really here. The man in rainbow bandages giggles at the sheriffs reaction "i didn't think you would be so surprised" he grins "how are you here?" The sheriff asked, his voice slightly shaken from shock. The man just shrugs "i just...woke up?" He replies, sounding a little confused himself.
The sheriff glaces at the bear then back at him "and you don't hate me?" The sheriff asked almost in a whisper "why would i hate you?" The young man replied "it was just a misunderstanding" he continued, his voice sounded gentle and sweet without a hint of anger or hatred in his words.

The Sheriff's eyes teared up once more "i got you killed...you should hate me" he choked out in a sob "what i did was unforgivable" he continued, his hands slowly balled up into fists. The smile on the others face fell slightly, he didn't want to see him cry. Seeing someone cry hurts his heart so much...
The young man walked around the table and without another word, pulled the sheriff into a soft hug letting him cry on his shoulder, saying "im sorry" over and over in sobs. "i forgive you sheriff...its ok..." The young man said in a hushed tone, his hand rubbing the crying mans back.

The young man, later introduced as 'skittles' sat in silence and let the sheriff cry his eyes out for the final time before he falls asleep in his arms, from both exhaustion and a small comforting hum skittles was doing as he was settling down...
