Pimret raised a finger. "Can I just -"

"NO!"

"But - "

"Please, Thulok - "

"Word!"

Thulok and Pimret were silent as they stared at each other.

"It was funny though," Pimret said in a rush.

Thulok growled and stormed out.

Evina sighed. "Let's just start the Battles, shall we?"

This battle task is taking place inside a large, underground cavern. Stalagmites line the ceiling and stalactites stab the floor. The walls are damp, dripping with water. This is where one of your five characters will face up with another character from another Magi Guild in a magic battle.

The cavern itself as a massive open pit in the center leading down deeper into the labyrinth of caves - to be careful not to fall or be knocked in by your opponent. If your Magi knocks their opponent into the pit with magic or by other means, then your Magi automatically wins the battle (this is for storyline purposes, but since your writing determines who wins, I would leave it open-ended). It also is possible that your fight could be interupted by a myraid of creatures who live down here, ranging from Sporkions (giant scorpions), Basilisks (giant snakes who turn people to stone), Arachne (giant spiders), fire and frost trolls, and goblins. Do not fear; if your Magi is turned into stone, the Gamemakers can reverse the progress, although it won't be pleasant!

We have an even number of participants this round (yay, all is as it should be), so there is no immunity this round. (FYI, if there was, MusicgirlXD, you would have won).

Remember to choose only one character that will be fighting against your opponent - against the character your opponent chose. Communicate with them as best as you can, but if they don't get back to you in a reasonable time, go ahead and select one of their characters to participate. You can coordinate entries if you want to, but you don't have to. If you do decide to coordinate, please don't hand in the same entry twice - make it unique to yourself as a writer.

Remember that I'll score both your entries and the writer with the highest score will win 10 points and the loser of each battle will receive zero (unless you've won an award that states otherwise and if you did, please remind me when the tasks are handed in). I will also judge on who portrays the magic correctly and writes the fight realistic (not having one character too good or avoiding injuries, etc). If you accidentally go over word count, I will take off the appropiate points but I'll also remember why you went over and take that into consideration when selecting a winner.

Word count:

Minimum of 450. Maximum of 550 (unless you have an award that states otherwise).

If you wish to include a scene of interaction with your guild before, then you have 400 to do that. If you include any of the creatures interrupting your fight, then you have an extra 400 words to draw out the fight! If you wish to include a scene afterward (without mentioning who won), then you have another 400 to do that. Remember to be realistic to the rankings your guild is currently in and if you do include a guild scene, I would like the rankings and your guild's place to be included somehow - whether they're sad or frustrated about it or celebrating. If you won an award that gives you extra word count, please tell me when you hand in your task.

Due date:

May 25th, Friday, 6pm central. This gives you a week and one day. Do not wait until the day its due to hand in; I WILL make note if your opponent hands in before you!
