IPL 2019....

It was RCB vs CSK match. It was the first match of the season. The most thrilling and exciting match for every cricket fan. RCB batted well with Virat scoring a half century but ended up losing by a margin of 10 runs to CSK.

At night, Virat wasn't getting sleep and to make it worse CSK members were celebrating their first win of the season in the room very next to his. It was somehow irritating him and he didn't want to be in his room. He glanced at the clock.

12:40 a.m.

Where can he go at this time?!

Nevertheless he got up and walked out of his room. As he came out of his room he could hear some voices. He stood there for a moment wishing not to hear just one person's voice.

"May be he is tired." Someone said.

"Yeah, Mahi was exhausted after his innings so he just wanted to rest." Virat heard Suresh Raina speaking.

He knows where he can go now!

Virat had wished Mahi Bhai wasn't with the team so that he can go to him and he heard exactly what he wanted to. He made his way towards Mahi's room.

He entered the room not caring to knock as the room was open as usual.

"Mahi Bhai...", He called as he noticed him half lying on the bed.

"Cheeku, come." Mahi looked up and spoke smiling at him.

Virat went and lied down beside Mahi Bhai keeping his head in his lap.

"What happened? Soya nhi ab tak?" Mahi asked moving his hand through his hair.

"Nothing, Bhai. Neend nhi aa rhi thi bas.." Virat said.

"Be here, kiddo. May be you will get some sleep." Mahi started massaging his head gently. Virat leaned more into him.

"You were great today, Cheeku. You played really well. I'm so proud of you, kiddo." Mahi Bhai said pride evident in his voice and Virat beamed at the appreciation.

"Thank you, Bhai. And congratulations on the win, Bhai. You were amazing today." Virat spoke excitedly and genuinely happy for his elder brother making Mahi Bhai smile.

"Thank you, Bacha." Mahi said running his fingers through Virat's hair lovingly.

"Why aren't you celebrating with others, Bhai?" Virat asked as he remembered why he had left his room.

"Where would you have been gone if I had been with them?" Mahi said and Virat looked up amused.

"No no, Bhai. I didn't come because of them. I really...." Virat spoke but stopped in between as he saw Mahi Bhai giving a teasing smile.

"Bhai!" He whined and snuggled in him even more while Mahi laughed out and soon Virat also started laughing.

"Bhai, painkillers?" Virat asked as he saw medicines beside bed.

"That's nothing, Cheeku." Mahi said ignoring it.

"You aren't well, Bhai?" Virat asked seriously getting up from his lap.

"Arre nhi, Cheeku. It's nothing." Mahi said again. And as expert he is being in his composure, no one can really tell if he is really unwell but then this was his Cheeku.

"Even Sonu was saying that you're exhausted." Virat said recalling Sonu's words. "I'm sorry, Bhai. I should have asked. You must be tired. You..."

"Cheeku, it's nothing like that, kiddo. Sonu kuch bhi bolta hai." Mahi said interrupting Virat's rant.

"Okay tell me where is it paining? Your shoulders are paining due to keeping?" Virat asked concerned.

"I just had a little headache, Cheeku. Nothing much. Chod na..." Mahi said extending his hand gesturing him to sleep again.

"Kya chodo, Bhai? You shouldn't be careless like this." Virat said frowning.

"You are saying this, Cheeku?" Mahi teased.

"You are teasing me, Mahi Bhai." Virat said sulking.

"Acha acha I won't." Mahi said laughing. "Ab toh so ja?"

"You are having headache, Bhai. You need to sleep." Virat said getting up and going behind the bed.

"Sleep, Bhai, you will feel better." Virat said as he started massaging Mahi Bhai's head.

"Arre nhi, Cheeku, rehne de." Mahi said holding his hand. "It's not needed, bacha. Vaise bhi raat ho gyi hai, tu so ja. You must be tired after the match, kiddo."

"Bhai, if I'm unwell, would you ever sleep without putting me to sleep in any match ever, no matter how tired you are?" Virat spoke massaging his head. Mahi opened his mouth to say something again but Virat continued, "I know you won't. Never. Because you are my elder brother, right? Then how can I? Even I'm your little brother. So stop speaking and close your eyes."

Mahi smiled and finally closed his eyes as he knew Virat won't sleep until he sleeps now. And true to his words, Virat's massage was really helpful and felt better. He thought fondly how Virat behaved so maturely at times.

His little brother had really grown up so much with time.

He remembered the times when Virat had slept in his lap, sometimes due to headaches, sometimes due to fake headaches to win over Ro and Harry and most of the times, without any reason.

"I'm having headache, Bhai. Won't you put me to sleep?" Virat used to say.

He remembered how all of them fought and Virat used his puppy eyes to blackmail him for favouring him and Mahi, never being able to resist that expression of his Cheeku always gave in resulting in Harry wailing about it for next few hours.

"Bhai, please!" Virat would please with puppy eyes.

"Okay." Mahi would respond shaking his head.

He remembered how Virat had clinged on to him at his debut, slept mostly in his room, and always stayed with him in his initial days.

"Be with me, Mahi Bhai. I feel comfortable." Virat used to say.

"I'll always be with you, Cheeku"

He remembered how Virat had looked at him for the first time with utmost respect and admiration and how he felt an unknown fondness and protectiveness towards this kid when he first called him "Mahi Bhai".

"Can I call you Mahi Bhai?" Virat had asked with nervousness and Mahi instantly felt something special about this kid.

He remembered the time when after scoring his first half century, Virat had come looking for him wanting to hear appreciation and he had hugged Virat out of happiness, feeling extremely proud of his boy and how Virat's eyes sparkled when he appreciated him.

"Did I do well, Mahi Bhai?" Virat had asked him even after being praised by the whole team.

"You were magical. I'm so proud of you!" Mahi had said and Virat's face lit up as if he was waiting for this single praising.

Mahi was smiling widely while recalling all these when Virat noticed him smiling so much.

"What are you thinking, Bhai? Because you are certainly not sleeping." Virat asked.

"Nothing, Cheeku." Mahi replied smiling at him.

Mahi looked at him and realised though Virat has grown up a lot with time but his Cheeku is still the same. His Cheeku still behaves the same way around him. He still is the same little brother to him.

"Bolo na, Bhai." Virat whined seeing him lost in thoughts again.

"Kaha toh nothing. My headache is lot better, kiddo. You also sleep now." Mahi spoke realising it's very late and Virat had been pressing his head all the while.

"Pakka na, Bhai? You're okay?" Virat asked again still not leaving his side.

"Haan, bacha. Come sleep." Mahi said shifting to let him sleep.

"Okay then." Virat agreed.

Virat lied down beside Mahi Bhai and cuddled in him. Mahi Bhai stroke his hair lovingly and Virat snuggled in him even more. Mahi again realised that Virat was, is and will always remain the same and he knew with all his heart that he will always be there for his Cheeku.

His little brother!
