chapter nine!

season 2, episode 7 - love affair!

CAM WAS ON THE COUCH OF HIS HOUSE, resting his eyes. Well... he was trying to. He couldn't stop thinking about the party from last night and how fun it was. He decided to go in the kitchen, grabbing a snack. "You can't sleep either?" a voice asked, startling him. He turned around, almost dropping some crackers and cheese.   She looked at him, her face full of concern. "Are you okay, Cameron?"

"You scared me!"  Mia softly laughed, "I'm sorry.  The look on your face is so funny."  He couldn't even get a word out of his mouth, too focused on her.   "Can I have a cracker?" He broke out of his thoughts, looking at her.  "Sure."

Unbeknownst to them, Sam and Alex were eavesdropping outside the kitchen doors.  "They are so awkward." Sam whispered.  "Which one? My sister or Cam?" Alex asked. "The curly haired guy.  He's so... in love with her. He's just very blind to see it."

"Yeah, if it keeps going like this, I might just fall back asleep."

"Oh, by the way, do you want to show me that skate park you told me about? I'm not really doing anything today." Sam whispered. "Sure. I'd like that." Sam felt butterflies in his stomach as he saw Alex smile. He always seemed like a ray of sunshine in his opinion. "Let's keep listening." Alex whispered.

"I'm glad we're on the same page." Mia couldn't help but notice Cam being very quiet, making her look at him with concern again. "Cam? Is anything on your mind right now? You can tell me anything, you know that?" The curly haired boy met her eyes and he knew he couldn't hide forever. "I've been thinking about something lately. I'm just really confused about why."

"What is that something that you can't stop thinking about?"

"Well, not a something... a someone." Mia squealed with excitement as Cam felt his cheeks flush. Her nose was scrunched up which was one of the cute things about her... well, in his eyes. "Is it someone I know? I could help you if you want."

"It is someone you know."

"Well, what do you like about them?" Mia asked, placing her hand on her cheek.  Who could that person be?, she thought to herself. "I don't have a crush on them."

"Cam, if you can't stop thinking about them... that means that you have a crush on them." The boy rolled his eyes, "I don't have a crush on them, Knight. I can't stop thinking about their laugh, their smile, how kind they are... they're also really funny."

"They sound amazing.  Is there anything else?" Cam cleared his throat, "They have these eyes that you can get lost in, their nose scrunched up when they laugh, and they're really pretty."

"That is so cute! It sounds like you're falling for them." Cam blushed as he thought for a moment. Was he actually falling for her? Mia let out a yawn, "Well, this was a nice talk but I'm gonna go back to sleep.  I'll see you later, Cam."

"Wait, Knight."  Mia stopped in her tracks, turning around to face him.  "Yes?"

"Would you... want to hang out with me later?"

"I would love to! Wait... actually, I can't.  I have to help Bells with tutoring Conrad for his test today." 

"We could do it tomorrow then."

"Tomorrow sounds perfect. But good night, Cameron." As she walked out the kitchen, the curly haired boy came to a conclusion that morning.

Maybe he was falling for her.

HOURS LATER, SAM AND ALEX WERE OUT IN THE TOWN.  Sam was on his skateboard while Alex walked beside him.  "It sounds like you might win this bet.  I mean, Cam kind of asked Mia out."

"How is he so oblivious? Mia likes him for crying out loud!" Sam nodded his head, "I've seen the way she looks at him. She's so in love it's crazy how he doesn't know."

"Yeah. But enough about them. Today is about the skate park."  The two arrived at the park, watching as a bunch of people were roller skating, skateboarding, and riding bikes.  Alex watched as Sam skateboarded on the ramp, performing some cool tricks.  The boy couldn't help but smile, thinking that Sam was awesome.  His phone suddenly rang as a FaceTime call from Kiara came on his screen.  He quickly answered it, turning on his camera.  "Hey, Kia."

"Alex! Hi! How are you? My cousin isn't giving you trouble, right?"

"I'm good! And he isn't."

"So when are you going to tell him... you know..."

"What?"

"Alex, don't act like you don't know. I've seen the way you look at him."

Alex sighed, knowing she was right. "He's been cute.  He looks even cuter now!"

"Alex, you better do it soon. Because summer's ending in a few more weeks."

"I know.  Uh oh, he's coming over! Talk to you later, Kia!"

"Alex-" Alex quickly ended the call, putting his phone away.  "Enjoying the skate park?"

"Yeah, it's pretty nice.  You look bored."

"I'm fine, Sam.  You can go back to skating."  Sam pulled him up from the bench, leading him to a spot.  "Sam, what are you doing?"

"I'm teaching you how to skateboard."  Alex laughed, "Yeah, no.  I'm not learning that."

"Alex, I'll help you.  First, get on the board."  Alex reluctantly did what was instructed, holding onto Sam for support.  "Okay, now, you just have to push yourself a little."  Alex moved the board a little, still holding onto the boy in front of him.  "I'm doing it!"

"Yeah! Now, let go."

"What?"

"You have to let go of me."

"Yeah, no.  I'm not doing that."

"Alex, do you trust me?"  Alex nodded his head, "Of course I do."

"Then let go.  I'll be right here to catch you."  The boy rolled his eyes, "Fine."  He let go of his shoulders, skating away.  "Sam! I'm gonna fall!"  Alex closed his eyes, only to feel someone holding onto his waist.  "See? I told you I would stop you."

"Who thought you'd be willing to teach me how to skateboard?"

"I don't know.  I guess you're starting to rub off on me."  Alex smiled, causing Sam's cheeks to flush.  He looked so cute when he smiled in his opinion.  He'd have to tell Kiara about that later.
