Kolkata, West Bengal, India

A big and beautiful Bunglow named 'Gadodias' Home Sweet Home' with a garden and a pond.

One could never describe this beautiful, peaceful place.

A WIDE, PRETTY BEDROOM

"Maa! My flight tickets? I can't see them!" A chirpy loud voice came outside the bedroom, all the way it went down across the stairs to reach a pair of ears. And it did.

A girl was standing near her dressing table, getting ready and styling her long silky hairs, wearing a cream jacket over her red top and black jeans, getting ready hurriedly but left no stone in remembering what accessories she had decided to wear!

Then, from down all the way to a wide living room, replied another voice to her question.

"You may see them in your room Shona! I don't know. Take care of your things na. Now you are all set to live in US independently! If you be so careless, how can you earn your living easily there?" A little frustrated voice was heard by the girl. She looked here and there again amidst styling her hair, but she couldn't find her tickets still. She got upset. "It's not there Maa! Check it in living room, I am getting late!"

"Hey bhagwan yeh ladki..."

A few baby steps were becoming audible to her, pausing her beauty session for a while. The girl looked at her back, her eyes all the way towards the entrance of her door. There was a woman standing there.

She had to come there to help her daughter in finding her tickets, leaving all her other works behind.

"See, there they are!" The woman pointed out at the glass table at the center of the girls bedroom. The girl got shocked. She sticked out her tongue hitting her head cutely.

"Oops! Sorry Maa. I was so busy in getting ready that I couldn't see properly! It's okay." she said. Her chirpy voice and cute 'sorry' always made her mother forgive her for her silly and cute mistakes. She smiled and cupped her daughter's cheek.

"Shona, seriously, we know you are twenty two year old now but even then, you are not very old enough to travel abroad. Still your Baba and I permitted you because we knew how much keen you are into achieving your big dreams. But tell me Shona, why is it so important for you to go to US only? You can achieve your dreams here also! By this way, you could have been here with your family, why going so far leaving us all alone? You know na, tujhse hi meri subah shuru hoti hai or tumse hi din khatam hoti hai. How can we all live without you?"

She questioned her daughter who was hurrying. But the girl by that time had stopped all her work after hearing what her Mom just said and looked at her.

The girl held her Mom's arms and gripped them lovingly.

"Maa! Why are you worrying so much? I have promised you na ki din mein roz five calls honge, daily! One hour talktime, at every call. Still you couldn't stop weeping nah? Chalo ab, smile." She stretched her mother's lips into a smile. "I want to see my Mumma's smiling face before I leave. And Mom, I'll take proper care, and Kavita bhi toh hai naa mere saath! So why do you worry? And this tear," she wiped her tear brimming from her Mom's eyes, "Last night itself you have already wasted many tears, enough of these now otherwise it will be difficult for me to leave!"

The mother-daughter saw emotions in each other and thus they shared a close, tight hug.

"I miss you Maa! But I promise I'll never stop irritating you with numerous calls! As I promised you, one hour talktime per call and five calls per day! Okay?"

Yeah, Swara Gadodia was all set to go to US to achieve her big dreams and become an independent, outgoing girl along with her childhood best friend, Kavita Roy. After some hard convincing, Sharmishtha Gadodia (Swara's Mom) and Shekhar Gadodia (Swara's Dad) had given her permission to live her dreams however she wanted too. They are a very simple family, but it was always Swara who dreamt big. She wanted to score great heights, she wanted to do something and dreamt of doing something, and so came to the conclusion of achieving her dreams in US (United States). Also, she wished to be an independent girl, as since they hailed from an upper caste family she was a bit tired to be dependent. And so she decided to migrate to US for some months. Her best friend, Kavita was to accompany her and thus both girls decided to live their dreams together.

Sharmishtha : (emotional) Surely nah?

Swara (tightened the hug and smiled) : Yes surely! (broke the hug) Okay I'm too late! I'll call you as soon as I reach the market to buy the essential things! (put her hand on her forehead) Oh god, kitna kaam hai! Now, I regret doing this at the last moment!

After turning off her 7.00 am alarm in her sleep unknowingly and carelessly, she had woke up at 8.00 am. And since then she had been panicing for small things...

Sharmishtha : Hadn't I told you? Why do you do such things Swara? I had asked you to bring everything yestetday only. Now, you are getting late to reach the airport.

Swara : It's okay Maa! (she suddenly grabbed her purse) I'll go right now! Market toh itna paas hai... Bas yun gayi, orr yun aayi! Okay?

Giving a 440 volt smile to her mother she set off taking her scooter keys from her cabinet and grabbed her helmet. Sharmishtha could hardly put a frown on her face seeing her daughter's childish behavior.

Sharmishtha : (raised her eyebrows in a tension) This girl! I wonder how will she manage to live there independently? Abhi tak bachchi hai... Now, where is Shekhar.. He is nowhere to be seen!? (worried) Ohh God. What if Swara misses her flight! Hey bhagwan... kya karu iska.

OUTSIDE THE BUNGLOW,
DRIVEWAY

Swara playfully carried her keys and made her way towards the parking lot, where she approached her pink scooter. She tucked her market bags in the space inside the scooter seat. She managed to remove her scooter out of the parking lot and she fixed her helmet on her head. She sat on her scooter seat and soon enough she used her keys to start the scooter.

She drove the scooter outside the gate and she fastened her speed so that she didn't get late.

Going from her house to market was also like an adventure for her. She happily drove her scooter, a few people of the locality looked at her in surprise and a smile didn't leave their lips. Each and every person shouted 'Happy Journey Swara!' or 'Best Of Luck Swara!' to her and Swara carelessly raised her hand to them in a thumps up.

Swara (shouted happily) : Thank you Kaki! Thank you guys!

Swara got so busy in thanking her well wishers that she didn't look ahead and she could feel that something was coming...

'Look ahead!' - Her mind shouted at her. Swara's smile vanished into a shocked look as she put her brakes to avoid crashing to the man at her opposite side...!!!

Swara's grip on the handle of her scooters tightened as she saw the man trying to defend himself by his hands from the crash and Swara could make out who was the man...

Swara : (in shock) Verma uncle!

The man looked at Swara and a smile cropped at his face.

Verma uncle : Swara Beti! All the best! And be careful!

'I am.. sorry!' - she made a cute frown with a pout on her face and she held her ears seeking forgiveness from her uncle.

Verma uncle : It's okay beta!

'Kya karti rehti hai tu Swara' - Her mind shouted at her as the man gave her an assuring smile and moved in his way as Swara again started her scooter. As she was driving in the road, she received a call...

Swara could hardly manage to take her mobile phone out of her pocket while she was driving. She somehow tried to manage the sterring with one hand and her other hand held her phone close to her ear.

Swara : (enjoying her ride in this way) Hello! Ha bol! And please, fast!

- "Swara yaar... When will you get ready?"

Swara (nodded in assurance) : I'm already ready yaar. I am going to the market right now to buy our necessary things for the flight. I am on my scooter.

- "Okay, no problem. Where are you going right now by the way?"

Swara : Delhi Shopping Centre. You know, that's the only place in this city where you can find warm and woollen sweaters of best quality.

- "But... I was thinking, why not buy it there itself."

Swara : Tsk! Are you mad? Clothes there will be very expensive. Atleast we can afford here.

- "Why didn't you do your shopping earlier then Swara?"

Swara (sighed as she balanced her sterring) : Now, you don't start please! I know I did wrong to have skipped it yesterday.

- "Anyways. Please, be fast. And yes, if you could then buy something for me too!"

Swara : How can I forget you my love! Of course I will buy something for you too.

- "Swara, you are a true friend. Although I decided to buy something in US only, I guess here we can afford clothes much more easily!"

Swara : Okay. Love you too. Bye. (smiled)

She kept her phone smiling and soon enough, she reached her desired place. 'Delhi Shopping Centre'!

She parked her scooter in the parking zone and got out of her scooter holding her keys in her hands and making her way towards the centre.

AFTER SOME TIME...

"Haww! Yeh kya baat hui uncle?" - Swara questioned the shopkeeper who was looking at her astonished, and a bit clueless.

Shopkeeper : I am not lying Ma'am. This is the real cost of the sweater.

Swara : But uncle, atleast you can give it for a little less cost na!

She requested for a little bargain for the sweater she liked the most among the options but the shopkeeper couldn't.

Swara's tweeting voice was enough to consider that the big centre had lot of chaos. Hehe!

Shopkeeper : (requestingly) Madam, either it can be given for Rs 2000 or else Rs 1500.

Swara (chirped frowning) : This is too much!

She turned holding her waist wondering what should she do next. Thinking about something, she turned towards him again.

Swara : Okay then. Atleast you can give it for Rs 1250?

The shopkeeper couldn't say anything.

Swara (questioned in an urge) : Rs 1300?

Still no reply.

Swara : Okay now this is too much. Rs 1350?

"That's okay Ma'am!" - Finally the shopkeeper could rest in peace as his whinning customer agreed to give that much.

"Wheee! So, I had a bargain!" - Swara had a fun inner conflict as shopkeeper packed her things in the market bag and she did the payment with cash.

GADODIA HOUSE...

Swara was finally back when suddenly she could see Sharmishtha pacing up and down. It was obvious that she was waiting for her.

Swara (shouted) : Maa! I am here.

Sharmishtha turned towards the owner of the voice and sighed in a relief.

Sharmishtha : God. I was literally going to die with a heart attack.

Swara : But Maa.. where is Papa? I can't see him. Already, its too late! Shit... (in fear) I am scared now. My heartbeats are increasing.

Meanwhile, Sharmishtha who was watching her daughter was fearing, calmed her down.

Sharmishtha : Calm down Shona! Oh see, there he is!

A man was standing there near the main door taking her luggage. "Come on Shona, You have to reach airport!". Yes there he was, Shekhar. He was back home after three hours of continuous office work. Afterall, there are a lot of responsibilities a great businessman has to fulfill for his business!

Swara got happy and rushed to Shekhar immediately.

"Come on Baba! Lets go!" - She was too excited that she dashed herself to a chair while running towards the exit. "Ouchh!!!" she moaned holding her knee.

Shekhar (helped her up) : Oh god... Aaram se Shona. Look here and there. And don't be so careless.

Swara left her knee and immediately stood properly and gave a chirpy salute to Shekhar. "Okay! Your command my rule!" she said and giggled.

Once again she was to be forgiven. Her cute behavior melted anyone in her house. Shekhar and Sharmishtha smiled and both accompanied Swara. Swara was leaving finally... She carefully took a glance at each and every corner of the house, she was not going to visit this home for a while. She got a bit emotional, but she knew that she did not have to make her parents emotional.

Then the trio step the stairs together slowly. Finally they were walking towards the door. Shekhar and Swara were leaving, but Swara turned back only to find her Mom quietly watching her depart, fully blank. She walked back and again she hugged her Mom to comfort her. Shekhar got emotional upon seeing their daughter's departure from her house and a mother's emotions.

Swara : (smiled, avoiding emotions) I miss you Mumma. Papa, you take care of Mumma when I am not there around! And take care of yourself too. Okay?

Shekhar wasn't in a state of replying her anything. She just simply nodded into a yes after Swara broke the intense hug with her mother and turned back to see his response.

Swara bent down to take her blessings and then later went to Shekhar and bent down to take his blessings. "Take care Baby!" Sharmishtha said. Swara looked at her and smiled."Yes! You both take care of yourself too!" she said nodding her head.

Swara was all set, off to a new start and a new phase of her life. But will the things really go the way she had planned?
