Vivian's POV:

I wake up still slightly drowsy, then take a moment to grasp my surroundings. Sitting up slowly, I lean against the wall behind me being careful not to bang my already painful head. Looking around I notice about fifteen other girls. All teens between the age of sixteen to nineteen, but only four girls look as confused as me. The others seem to be awaiting orders.

I also see a guy roughly in his thirties. He looks bored, I think to myself. Then he starts whistling a tune. A tune sounds oddly familiar. Oh my soul! He's the guy who kidnapped me! Well, one of the two. I wonder who- my thoughts get cut off when the door suddenly burst open.

For some or other reason my body forces itself off the floor into an upright position. Was the captain in me revealing itself? No I'm kidding. A little humour lightens the mood.

"Those of you who are frightened, unaware of what's going on, or even about to shit yourself, make your way over to my right," the guy with the files tucked skilfully under his arm demands.

Sir, yes sir! .. Okay I need to stop. This is a serious situation.

I walk over to where he demanded us to and the other four girls follow. We instinctively line up next to each other. The rest stay to the left side of the room. Mr. Do As I Say positions himself directly in front of us while the other two guys stand on either side of him. Outlining middleman's image and tone, he strikes me as someone who is intelligent, informed and rather intense. This guy was surely not to be messed with.

I glance over to my right and notice two of the girls observing the men in front of us while the other two are crying. Tears start forming in my eyes once I acknowledge the seriousness of our current dilemma.

"I'm Marcus." Middleman begins, causing me to snap my head back in his direction. "Since you won't be able to escape, which I have made sure of, I might as well shed some light on your curiosity. The copacetic, yet unsympathetic, men who brought you onto this path would be Frank", he looks to his left, "and Steven." He says looking to his right. Then places his attention back on us.

So that's their names.

I keep repeating those three names in my head like a procrastinator does with information the evening before an exam. Marcus, Frank, Steven... Marcus, Frank, Steven... I must remember... Marcus, Frank, Stephan- Steven!

"You five will each go through the 'Triple E' - Extremely Excruciating Evaluations. These compulsory procedures are purely meant for your body. Whatever happens to you mentally, self-spiritual medication is advised. Should you however decide not to cooperate, and we find ourselves no longer needing you.. You pick the weapon and we'll make it long and painful. Understood?" We all simply stare at him. Being horror-struck with information flying towards us all at once, we find ourselves clammed up.

"What about my family?! My friends?! My future?!" Who the hell is this dodo? Like the threat, Mr. Do As- that Marcus made isn't sinister enough. Do you want to die?

I rotate my head to see us all staring at the girl standing in the middle of the five of us. Her eyes are bloodshot, hands trembling with fear, but she is most certainly brave I'll admit.

"What about them?" Steven replies ever so nonchalantly and I involuntarily look in his direction. "We are your future. You will need to forget about your old life. It no longer exists." Marcus says shortly after, shifting my focus.

Those words run repeatedly through my mind, like a broken record. How could I possibly forget about my life? To pretend that my family, my parents never existed, my best friend, my boyf- my ex and Lucas. Hell, I still have one year left of school to finish and a prom to plan. Oh, wait... Nick and I... Well, this blows. There goes my prom date.

I could potentially die at any second and I'm worried about prom. Talk about sticking to reality.

"You realize that it's inhuman to go around kidnapping teenage girls simply for your own pleasurable game of dress up." Well, this person has a sassy attitude, especially for someone who has just been kidnapped.

Am I literally the only one who didn't have a death wish around here? Looking over to my right, again, I see a gorgeous brunette standing with her arms crossed in front of her chest. Her fear somehow faded, and anger and frustration boiled over. The only thing a mess about her is her tousled hair and creased check shirt. Most likely from when they grabbed her.

"They only thing inhuman is your attitude! That would most certainly need adjustment if you want to survive here!" Marcus yelled at this girl while walking closer towards her, ending but mere centimeters from her face.

I find it so intimidating, even though it isn't directed at me, I want to crawl inside a kangaroo's pouch and never leave. But this girl, wow she has an unmistakable level of confidence that makes me seem so transparent.

"I would offer you a breath mint, because trust me, you need it. But unfortunately your goons stole my handbag."

Dead. I call it. You. Are. So. Dead!

Marcus's laser stare deepens to such an extent, I begin to see burn holes form in her eyes. Or am I starting to lose my mind? That can't be right. Suddenly he yanks her by her wrist. "You clearly need to be taught a lesson!" he says before throwing her in the direction of Steven.

Now, normally when a guy sees a girl being tossed his way with such force that she would end up tripping and falling over, they... Oh, I don't know... Reach out a helping hand at least for the girl to grab onto and regain her balance or catch them, in general, to prevent them from falling.

But no. Not Steven.

Instead, he moves out of the way. Causing her to fly past him, crashing straight into the desk behind him before falling to the ground. Wait, there's a desk?  How come I didn't notice it before? I have to see what's in the drawers.

Struggling to get back up on her own two feet, Frank yanks her up and hands her over to Steven who sighs and is clearly not in the mood for whatever it is he has to do next. Marcus whispers something in Frank's ear before exiting the room along with Steven and that poor blabbermouth.

"Sit."

So it does speak. Even though it's one word and makes me feel like a dog being trained, just without the rewarding treats after, it's the first time I hear Frank speak. By the sound of it the last too, as he immediately starts whistling his tune once we all pick a spot on the ground and sit down.

The other three girls and I decide to shift closer to one another. After noticing the remaining few in the room talking to one another, we start whispering in the faintest way possible. We all create possible scenarios of what could be happening with the girl they took out of here, but getting tired of the topic we decide to figure out where the next person was kidnapped from.

"I overslept for school, by a few hours. I would have stayed at home, but I had a test to write. I got dressed as quickly as possible and headed straight out the door. Once I made it to the side walk, a hand covered my mouth and I felt an object pierce my skin in my arm. That's when I knew they injected me with some or other drug. Luckily I left all my most important belongings at home." Tears slowly stream down her face.

"I was at one of my boxing practices. When that session was over I went to the gym. Stupid me forgot my gym bag in the car, which I only realized because I had to go and shower. Well, guess who decides to surprise me with an attack," she says glancing over to where Frank was standing.

"No way was I going to let that happen. I threw every possible swing their way. But two against one, those odds are what ended my winning streak. And now I'm here," she says with such fierceness.

She kept a brave face through everything since I woke up. Just like a champion does even when he/she has been defeated. They don't let those emotions show.

Their attention turns towards me. After a few seconds of realizing this, I start to tell them my kidnapping story; oversleeping for school, getting sent to detention, the breakup, the break down when I ran from school to ending up here. They stay silent for a moment not knowing what to say before the last girl speaks up.

"At least you girls got kidnapped," she begins.

Excuse me?

"I practically gave myself to them. All I needed was a lift..." Was all this girl can say before she starts sobbing. Yes, it's the same girl who had a death wish the first time. The one who got kidnapped from home started comforting her, while her own tears blur her vision.

After about 30 minutes we hear a girl scream.

The girl's ear-splitting screech causes my insides to twist. My head to spin. My heart to race. My throat to feel dry. These exact symptoms are why I hate roller coasters.

She screams again, this time even louder. After the fifth scream, she stops. A silence grows across the room. We all look around frantically to one another, trying to figure out what happened while Frank just stands there leaning against the desk with the back of his upper thighs.

In comes Marcus, still holding the files neatly tucked beneath his arm through all this. We all stand up immediately. Then Steven walks in, dragging a soaking wet brunette to stand back in her place, her hair slapped on her face like wet worms. Her clothing, drenched in water drip to the floor, causing a puddle where she stands. She holds an expression of fear and anger but doesn't look up, not once. Her gaze stays on the ground as she in- and exhales forcefully. She looks almost defeated, but definitely not broken.

"Would anyone else like a go?" Marcus asks and none of us reply. "Now, to catch up with our schedule." He says as he takes the files out from under his arms.

A schedule?! Not a chance is this really becoming my new life. I refuse.

will escape!
