"Mom, please don't leave me."

The eighteen-year-old boy said in a hoarse tone holding his mother's hand in a death grip. His eyes were red from all the crying. The doctors said that she can't be saved. The wound on her head is very deep and the severe blood loss only added to the damage.

"Manik."

Nyonika Sehgal winced while talking. Her voice was about a whisper. Manik would have missed it if he wasn't really attentive towards her.

"Mom, please don't talk. It will stress you. The doctor has forbidden it."

"Shh... Let me speak. Look Manu, whatever happened today, it's. It's not your fault. I know it won't be easy.. Easy for you. But promise me, promise that you will never leave your dreams. It's what makes you Manik."

Her voice breaking while she speaks. Her face was pale, head covered in a bandage. She took a deep breath and tiredly closed her eyes making Manik panic.

"Mom... Mom... Open your eyes. Please mom".

Manik sobbed before calling doctor. Nyonika opened her eyes and looked at Manik as if she is trying to paste his face in her mind forever. Her eyes were filled with love and adoration for her son, her Manu. But soon her breath quickened.

A doctor immediately came into the ICU and asked Manik to move out. But before Manik could go Nyonika squeezed his hands with all the strength remained in her almost dying body.

"Remember it's never your fault"

She said and with a last smile, her hands slipped from Manik's. Manik looked at his hands which was held by his mother just a moment back.

"It was always my fault"

He whispered looking at her face for the last time. His eyes were blank with no emotion just like the plain walls of the Intensive Care Unit.

That day that happy go, lucky guy, Manik Sehgal died with his mother Nyonika Sehgal died and MANIK MALHOTRA was born.
