It was night, Nandini was waiting for Manik, even though when he said that he will be late and she should sleep.

It's midnight now and waiting for Manik continuously,Nandini unintentionally slept on the couch in sitting position. Manik came home at 2.30 am. All tired, he asked the guard to open the door. Manik expected the house to be dark but when he entered, he saw the lights of the living room on.

He looked around and saw Nandini sleeping, he chuckled and came close to her, he kept his office bag, that he carried today itself as it has files to work on. Keeping that he came to Nandini to carry her and take her on bed but when he slide his hand under her knees, Nandini got up.

As she woke up, Manik left her and Nandini sat straight. She rubbed her eyes and then looked at Manik, who was then standing straight. Nandini looked at him and said in her hoarse tone.

Nan-Manik........tum aagaye.

Ma-yes........and i told you to sleep.........fir tum idhar kya kr rhi ho?

Nan-forget that.

She stood up and said.

Nan-did you eat dinner.........?

Ma-i had.

Nan-but you are hungry again.

Reading his expressions Nandini said the latter part. On which Manik got numb, to which Nandini said after a big yawn.

Nan-get fresh.........I'll serve the dinner.

Saying that she walked away, giving no chance to Manik to oppose. After she left, Manik took his bag and headed upstairs, quickly getting fresh and changed in night wear, he came down and saw Nandini waiting for him with food.

Seeing him, she pulled the chair for him and Manik sat. Then she filled his plate and sat beside him and filled her plate too. They had dinner with Manik talking about his busy day. Quickly wrapping up the dinner they came on bed and in no time they slept.

Next morning, Nandini did her work quickly as she had an idea that Manik might have to go office early or at least on time. Quickly doing her work, she came in the room to wake up Manik but when she entered in she was a bit surprised.

Manik was up, talking on the phone along with pacing in the room. He haven't brushed his teeth but his voice said that he woke up at least 10 mins before. Nandini entered the room anyways and Manik saw her.

She went to remove his clothes for office and Manik continued talking. Nandini made the bed, kept all his belongings on the bed. Manik came in btwn his call and hugged Nandini. Who hugged him back.

Being in the hug he,was still talking. He broke the hug and the call went for another 5 mins. After ending the call, Manik spoke in a tired tone. Tired from phone calls.

Ma-uff.........this office work.............

Nandini smiled an understanding smile and gave him the towel. He left for a shower and Nandini put his phone on charge. Waiting for him. Nandini was sitting on the bed.

Soon Manik came out in his towel. He was abt to head towards his clothes when his phone rang again. Leaving his clothes, he picked up the call. He thought the call might end in 2 mins but it didn't.

He started talking and that's when Nandini came to his rescue. She took another towel and started wiping his upper body and neck. Then she made him wear his shirt, without disturbing his call.

Manik too wore it, then Nandini was buttoning his shirt and Manik was busy in the call. Then she wiped his legs and made him wear his pant. Manik had worn his boxers already. With the help of Nandini, Manik wore the pant too.

Nandini did his inshirt, made him wear the belt, his tie, his watch, closing the buttons of his sleeves. Finally Manik ended the call and said.

Ma-work is just increasing..........it's a mess.

Nan-don't worry........everything will fall in its place........and I know........you are very talented........you will easily meet the deadlines.

Saying that she kissed his cheek. Manik felt peace. Then he combed his hair, and sprayed perfume. Nandini came with his coat and made him wear that. Done with that, he wore shoes and socks, taking his bag they headed downstairs.

Manik was busy with phone, checking a few messages related to work and eating. Nandini knew that he never does this while eating and when today he is doing that means it is important that's why she didn't interrupt him.

Having his breakfast Manik headed to leave. Nandini was behind him. At the door step, they kissed each other and then Manik left the office. 10 mins early from his regular time. The intruder noted the time. It was different from the time of his regular day.

Anyways the professional day for Manik started. He was extremely busy in the office. Already he had to wrap up 3 projects and to add up to his misery, 2 more projects got green signal. So the work load increased more.

Nandini on the other hand passed her day as usual but instead of calling Manik she called Navya and they talked. Same at night, Manik came late and again like yesterday they had food and slept in no time.

2 days passed in a jiffy with Manik drown in work. His leaving and coming time was different everyday. This made the intruder confused to hell. He informed his boss about the timing disorder in Malhotra mansion and they were hell angry as they were ready to execute the plan.

It was Friday, today Manik left for work but not at office but instead on the construction site. The whole day he was at the site, btwn the dust and uneven roads. His coat was somewhere, his tie was also not there, his sleeves were folded and he was working on the blue print.

Inspite the climate was cold, the sun rays were mild but Manik was sweating. He even helped in picking bricks and all. Nandini knew abt his working site.

At night Manik came home at 10.00 pm all tired. Nandini opened the door for him and welcomed him with a smile. Manik was disheveled. His hair messy, his coat and tie on his arm, his shirt slight out but on seeing Nandini a smile appeared on his face. After entering in, Nandini was abt to hug Manik but he moved away and said.

Ma-don't.........I am very dirty with sweat and all.

Nan-it's okay.

But Manik didn't and said.

Ma-let me take a shower and then do whatever you want.

And before she could say anything, Manik left towards his room. Nandini followed him. On entering the room, Nandini turned Manik with a jerk and hugged him. Manik was trying to maintain distance as he himself was feeling dirty. With a smile he said.

Ma-Nandini don't do that.

Nandini looked at him with half hug and said.

Nan-when I have the right to hug a perfumed Manik, then I have the right to hug the sweating Manik too.........aur waise bhi........ your sweat smell is more beautiful then your perfume..........

Manik giggled at it and tired to break the hug but Nandini was not ready, while they were struggling, Nandini saw a black mark on Manik's right side crook of neck. She wiped that with her thumb and realised it to be grease.

Taking that, she moved her thumb on his center forehead, doing a tika. Seeing that she giggled and said.

Nan-dakku Manik Malhotra.

They laughed and finally Nandini left him but not before kissing his crook of neck. Entering the bathroom Manik saw his reflection with that tika and then wiped it along with chuckling at Nandini's antics.

Anyways, he got fresh and came down. After having a lavish dinner, he said to Nandini who was helping butlers in wrapping up the work.

Ma-I am going down in study to work.

Nan-okay.

Manik left down in study and Nandini wind up her work. After butlers left the mansion, Nandini came down switching off all the lights of the house. Coming down she saw Manik busy in his laptop. She came close and asked.

Nan-Manik........

But before she could ask her thing she spoke with a frowny face.

Nan-why are you sweating?

On hearing her voice, Manik looked up and then touched his forehead to see his fingers getting wet with his sweat. He said looking at the AC.

Ma-woh AC

And that's when both of them saw the AC was off. Seeing that Nandini said.

Nan-Manik........tumne AC on kyu nhi kiya.

Ma-sorry........actually mei bhul gaya.

Nandini took the remote and said.

Nan-hadd hai Manik.........itna bhi kya kaam mei tum busy ho.

Then she on the AC and then came to him, with the corner of her dhupatta she wiped his forehead and neck and cleaned all the sweat. Then she said.

Nan-can i sit here........?

Manik again looked at her and said.

Ma-I don't mind........but why you want to sit.........go and sleep........you must be tired.

Nan-no it's okay.........any which ways I am alone home all day.......I get bored.........

Ma-okay sit.

Nandini sat on the sofa chair away from the table and started reading a novel. Manik was busy working and Nandini was reading. At one moment Manik looked up to see Nandini and saw her busy in the book, so leaving all his work, he asked.

Ma-when did you started reading.

On hearing him Nandini looked up from the book and said.

Nan-from a very long time.........actually I read when you are not in Mumbai so Isliye tumhe pata nhi tha........plus all the books are kept in study toh tumhare hath nhi aati.

Ma-ohh.......okay.

Again they both got busy in their respective work. At 2.00 am finally Manik decided to end up the work. So closing all his laptop and all he said.

Ma-chalo let's sleep.

Nan-done with your work?

Ma-no.......but I am tired now.

Nan-okay........chalo.

Saying that they came upstairs, walking in living room with their hand in hand.

Suddenly Nandini left her hand from Manik's hold grabbing his attention. He looked at her and asked through his raised eyebrows.

Nan-I'll get you milk........and you have to have that.

Ma-nhi........plain milk nhi.........i don't like it.

Nan-koi bahana nhi chalega Manik........direct milk intake tumhara bahut kum hota hai....... so you have to drink that.

Saying that she left in kitchen while making a bad face, Manik came back in their room and was waiting for Nandini. After 5 mins, she entered with a tray and Manik saw the milk glass to be brown.

Nandini kept the tray on the bed, sat with her one leg folded underneath and said moving her hair strand.

Nan-I got nutella luckily........so i added in the milk.........this you will have to drink.

Nutella milk is yum, so Manik was happy to have that. He picked up the glass and found it lukewarm. Anyways he took a sip while Nandini started cutting an apple that she got along. She soon passed a slice to Manik who had it btwn his milk.

She was giving him the apple slice but in btwn he feeded her too, even gave her milk. Like this they shared that. After eating they laid down on bed, facing each other.

Ma-how are you?

Nan-I am good........

Ma-Hhmm.......take care of yourself.........don't fall ill........not coz I can't come.......I can leave everything for you........it's just that I don't want you to suffer coz of illness........I know the struggle of fever and all.

In reply Nandini smiled, took his hand and kissed his palm.

Soon they slept.
