Manan were having their coffee silently and Nandini was back to normal, while Manik was in deep thoughts. Nandini looked at him after finishing her coffee and saw him lost and worried. She placed her hand on his knee, grabbing his attention and than spoke.

Nan-kya hova........you seem to be disturbed?

Seeing her back to normal, Manik moved his head in no and than completed his coffee. After this, they continued their work. The day ended and today Manik didn't come at her place nor he invited her to his place.

Next 2 days passed like the normal one's, their usual routine and Manik's romantic behaviour. Today, after completing office work, Nandini came to him and said.

Nan-Manik.

He looked at her and she said further.

Nan-suggest me some food na...........aaj kuch samj hi nhi aa rha hai k kya banao.

Ma-uuhhh.........Nandini.........I won't come home today........after fab5 jamming.........I have some work and that's important.

Nan-what work?

She said that instantly coz she knows his schedule and was frowning bad. Manik looked at her and than replied after a moment.

Ma-it's something else.........you don't know.

Nandini kept looking at him and no words were exchanged for a long time. After a long long silence, he spoke.

Ma-I'll tell you once I am done with that work.........pakka.

Nandini moved her head in yes but not satisfied with his words. She came back on her desk and packed her stuffs, standing from far, she said.

Nan-bye Manik........I am going.

Saying that she saw him looking at her but she turned away immediately and left, not waiting for anything. With this act she was showing her uncomfortableness with him and thought that he will come behind her but that didn't happen.

With a sad heart, she came back home, had a cup of tea and slept, skipping her dinner. She slept soon and woke up on her time. Today, after waking up, she went through her sns and saw a latest pic of Manik, in some pub, with a girl.

He looked happy and enjoying. Nandini thought that was this the important work he was talking about or the girl was the important work. With a more sad heart, she started her day.

While working, she thought to talk to Manik about it and that reduced some burden from her heart. With determination, she came to Manik's place and started her work coz Manik was not at home.

When he came back, she tried to talk but Manik excused himself for a shower. Nandini laid the table and waited for him again. Once he was back, Nandini too sat on her place and while filling his plate, she spoke.

Nan-kaal aap ka kaam hogaya? Kaisa raha?

Manik was not looking at her when she asked that which is why he was all casual and couldn't see her disappointed and sad face. He simply shrugged himself and spoke.

Ma-haan that.........kuch khaas nhi hova.

Nandini felt like he was avoiding her or trying to divert the topic, while Manik was clueless completely. Unintentionally, Aaliya's words rang in her mind and her mind started working on all sort of negative thoughts.

She didn't say anything after this and continued her work normally, she talked very less too today but Manik didn't point out at anything. He wasn't attentive towards her today at all. The whole day she kept hinting him about last night but Manik behaved all blank.

Being tired, Nandini gave up on him for the day. Hoping that the next day would be better, she slept. Next 2-3 days passed in a jiffy and Manik was behaving  very weird. So much that it was clearly evident to her. It's been 5 days in total when Manik is not in his usual self.

It was heights for her now and she couldn't take it. So around 12.00 pm, she got up from her place and locked their cabin door and came to him.

Nan-hova kya hai tumhe?

On hearing something, he looked up and saw Nandini there in a miserable state. He frowned and asked her.

Ma-what's wrong Nandini?

Nan-that is what I am asking you..........what's wrong with you.........it's been a week I am seeing you all changed........kya hova hai tumhe?

Manik got up from his place and came to her.

Ma-muje kya hova hai?

Nan-seriously you are asking this? Tum ghar pe aane k liye crib nhi kr rhe ho.........you hid that pub thing from me.........and you haven't noticed that I am talking so less these days...... still you are unaffected.

By now she was sobbing, tears were flowing from her eyes like waterfall. Seeing her like that, Manik came close to cup her cheeks but Nandini moved back, not letting him touch her. Nandini sniffed and looked at him.

Ma-Nandini woh

Nan-you know what........do whatever you want.

Saying that she wiped her tears, took her bag, not caring about summing up her work desk, she left from there. All this happened so quick that Manik couldn't react at all and when she came to the door, Manik held her to stop her but she jerked their hands and came out of his hold.

She left the office, crying and came back home. Manik called up Nandini but she didn't pick up his phone. With tears, she reached home and came on her bed. Putting her phone on silent, she cried to sleep and here Manik kept calling her for like infinity times but didn't get any answer from her.

The day turned to night but Manik got no response from Nandini and that's why he came to her home. Nandini woke up at 7.00 pm and was starving and that's why she made some sandwiches and tea for herself and had that. Just when she was done eating, the door bell rang.

Having a hint of who it could be, she looked through the see through of the door and as expected it was Manik on the door. Nandini sticked close to the door and spoke.

Nan-go away Manik.........I don't want to talk to you.

Ma-Nandini please just once let me talk.

Nan-no Manik.........I gave you the whole week and now I can't........go away.

With that Nandini moved away from the door and Manik rang the bell continuously with a hope that she will open it but Nandini turned deaf years like Manik from all these days. He started calling her and ringing the bell to with the hope that she would give in but Nandini didn't.

This all worked for 2 hours and they both were tired of this but none were ready to give up. He was not leaving and she wasn't letting him in. Manik stayed there till 12.00 am but Nandini didn't let him. Being tired, he gave up and came home.

He messaged Nandini but nothing was lessening her pain and she ignored him completely. Next day too, Nandini didn't go to office and avoided Manik completely. This day too Manik tired to talk to her but she avoided him. He came back at her place but Nandini was not at home.

At morning only she left the house to roam around the city, catching up all the stuffs she use to do when she was with Kumar's and haven't done since a year coz of the changes in her life.

She did all that with just this hope that something could help her to gather herself but nothing worked and she realised that Manik has seeped deep in her heart that even the slightest of thing happening from his side was troubling her.

She came back home all tired and Manik had left from her place after continuously calling her and ringing the bell but he was not aware that she is not at home. Anyways, this day too ended and the next day, Nandini came to Manik's place to work and talk to him too.

But when she was in the middle of her work, she saw a girl coming out of Manik's room, in his shirt, her messy and she was a complete stranger. Seeing her in that state, Nandini got scared thinking of all the situations taking place. Her eyes got wet again and she was just hoping that Manik comes and denies everything. While she was in this dilemma, the girl asked.

G-Manik kaha hai?

Nandini counter questioned.

Nan-tum kaun ho?

G-mei.........his new fling.

Nandini's eyes started pouring out and than the girl said.

G-pass me a glass of juice.

Nandini replied with a gritted teeth.

Nan-mei unki maid nhi ho.........aur tumhari toh bilkul bhi nhi.

Saying that she off all the flame, took her bag and left from there. Just when she opened the door, Manik was entering in, seeing her, he smiled but Nandini looked at him with hurt and disgust, pushing him away, she left from there and Manik called her but she left.

Manik frowned and came in the house to find the girl. Nandini came in office, exhausted coz she was not understanding that how things changed btwn them, what caused this change and what wrong she did to see this day.

She palmed her temples, rested her elbow on her desk to support herself and was crying silently along with thinking of all the aspects that what she did wrong that made Manik to behave like this.

Manik came office and immediately locked his cabin, he came to her desk and said.

Ma-Nandini........

Hearing him she immediately looked up and than in next second she got up with a jerk. She immediately asked.

Nan-kaun thi woh ladki? Kya kr rhi thi tumhare room mei.........and in your shirt?

Her voice was loud and luckily his cabin was sound proof. Manik opened his mouth to say something but Nandini fisted his collar, pulled him more to her and asked.

Nan-kya lagti hai woh?

Manik held her wrist and said calmly.

Ma-usne bataya nhi tumhe k woh kaun thi meri.

Hearing that, Nandini got numb and her hand fell from his collar, tears stopped and she was not blinking. She took a complete minute to realise everything and said with doubts and hoping to not hear something like that.

Nan-fling.........one of your fling's?

Manik smirked and Nandini understood everything with his that smirk. She asked.

Nan-so mere kaun sa number hai?

Manik smirked more, sat on her desk like always and said.

Ma-I don't remember the number but yes........ you should be proud of yourself.........coz you were the longest that stayed in my life........and you actually helped me survive the lockdown too.......in all ways........office, ghar, khana, sex.

Hearing the last word, Nandini closed her eyes and tears flowed from her eyes more. She looked back at him soon and asked with faint tone.

Nan-kyu?

Ma-that's a good question........well you should see yourself naked completely........you will get your answer........and what I saw bare.......I saw in clothes too.........and let me tell you.......the first one was just good.

Nandini's heart was bleeding hearing this while Manik spoke further.

Ma-well Nandini........tum muje pehchaan nhi payi.........I need new every time and I get what I want.........and also it was fun to get you coz you really gave me a hard time..........but don't worry.......your little secret of life is zipped........ so don't worry about that and concentrate on your work.

Saying that he stood up from his place and forwarded his hand for a handshake.

Ma-it was fun being with you.

In reply, Nandini looked at him and his hand and than back at him and in next second she punched him. Really really hard.
