"I do but..." you say softly.

"But what?"

"I don't want him to break my heart."

"I would never break your heart doll," a familiar drawl says from behind you.

"Bucky?" You turn around. Steve backs away with a smirk.

"I love you Y/F/N  Y/M/N  Y/L/N," Bucky says with his cerulean eyes sparkling.

"I love you too James Buchanan Barnes."

"Y/N?" Bucky says, grabbing your attention.

"Yes Bucky?"

"Will you marry me?" He asks as he opens a small black box, revealing a diamond ring.

"Yes!" you cry happily before crashing your lips to his.

"I leave in two days," he whispers sadly. "But I have to do this for our country Y/N."

The doorbell rings. You go open it and see a tall and muscular blonde haired, blue eyed man. Is he Steve?

"Steve?" you gasp. "What are you doing here?" He looks like he's about to cry.

"Y/N, it's Bucky. He," he takes a deep breath. "He died."

"NO!" you cry. "He can't be! What happened?" .

"I-I couldn't save him," Steve whimpers. "W-we were on a tr-train  and..." he trails off.

"I'm sorry Y/N. This is my fault," he sobs. You throw your arms around Steve.

"It's not your fault Steve," you say in his chest. The two of sink to the floor of your apartment with you in Steve's arms.

"Steve?"

"Yes Y/N/N?"

"How can I help with the fight?"

You wake up in a hospital bed. Steve is next to you in a bed similar to yours. The last thing you remember is being in the ship with Steve and crashing into the ice. You get out of the bed and shake Steve awake.

"Y/N?" he mumbles groggily. "Where are we?"

"Bucky?" you and Steve gasp at the same time.

"Who the hell is Bucky?" he says in a gravelly voice.

"You don't want me Y/N. You don't need me." Bucky says. "You're an Avenger now. You have Steve. Why would you want me? I'm an assassin. No one could ever love me."

"I died that day! The day Steve came and told me, I died. I love you Bucky. I've waited years for you! Please, don't leave me!"

"I'm sorry Y/N, but I need to do this," he says softly as he walks into the cryo machine.

"Goodbye Y/N."

Today's the day. The day Bucky finally comes out of the freezing chamber. The door opens and Bucky's eyes flutter open.

"Y/N?" he mumbles. "What's going on?"

"I love you Bucky."

"How could you love a monster like me?"

"You're no monster Bucky. I loved you back in the '40s. I loved you when you were the Winter Soldier. I love you right now. I'll love you for a thousand years and more," you say as tears start dripping down your face.

"Really?" He says as he starts to tear up.

"Really."

"I love you too Y/N," he says as he pulls you into a tight hug.

"I always will."
