"I cant get married next Saturday"

Vivien made a group video call with me and Ana. And this is the last thing i expected to hear from her. To be honest I thought she was still trying to play middleman and sort the issue with me and Ana.

I don't know what to say. I just stare back at my phone screen, at Vivie's swollen face and red eyes.

"You guys postponed it?" Ana asks

"I can't... I... I can't do this... I can't do it" she's saying between sobs.

"What happened?" I ask "Did he do this to you?" I'm afraid what her answer will be already but I still ask anyways.

She nods and cries even more "he... he was really drunk" she cleans her eyes but it doesn't help much as the tears continue to flow freely "I just... I cant" she's really crying and I hate that this is a video call and I can't hug her.

"It's okay, we'll be there soon" I say

"Yes, give us a minute baby" Ana says

She nods and forces a smile "I love you guys so much, you're the best people in my life right now"

"Don't say that, you have Micheal too. This is just a misunderstanding" I cannot believe what just came out of Ana's mouth. Did she not hear the part where this same Micheal hit our friend? I don't say anything about it because I'll hate to make this about me and Ana right now.

"Don't end the call okay? I'm on my way already " I say searching for my purse and heading straight out and from the call, I see Ana doing the same

"Okay"

We don't say anything asides occasionally looking at each other and sending small reassuring smiles till we reach her house. Me and Ana don't even have any kind of conversation we just go in, our friend needs us and now is not the time to be selfish because of our fight.

"Vivie" I call as soon as i see her, running to hug her as she continues crying.

She hugs me back "Dani, I  don't want to do this anymore. I can't" she's telling me as she let's go of the hug so she can look at me "I don't want to"

"Baby, this is just a little set back. You two love each other and the marriage is fixed already, you're going to settle it and all this would be a thing of the past" Ana tells her.

"Is this the first time?" I ask, ignoring Ana

She shakes her head "no"

"How many times?" I ask again

"Just twice, yesterday was the second time"

"Just?! Vivien, how could you possibly want to settle for this? He beats you! Maybe the first time was a mistake but a second time?!" I know I shouldn't be yelling at my friend right now but this whole thing just angers me. "Why didn't you tell us before?" I add

"How could I? It's not exactly something to brag about"

"Vivien, we'll talk to him, he'll stop, okay?" Ana says and this time I can't just ignore her.

"Anastasia, are you listening yo yourself. You want your best friend to enter into an abusive marriage just because the wedding has been fixed" I shake my head in dissapointment

"They are in love and couples have fights"

"This is not a fight, he beat her" I remind her

"Guys, pleasee"

"You cannot get married to that dog. I won't let it happen" I tell Vivien

"And what are you going to do about it? Hit him with a car like you did with Sam?" Ana says.

I see now we're throwing low blows at each other. Turn by turn like we're children "Ana, what is wrong with you?"

She ignores me "I'll talk to Micheal, David can help us talk to him even. This would never happen again, okay?"

I am disgusted by Anastasia. How could someone change overnight? She is insensitive, inconsiderate, selfish.

"Do you want to get married to him?" I ask because all this has to be her decision. Not mine not Ana's.

"What kind of question is that? She said yes to him already, what more?"

"Would you let her answer?" I look away from Ana trying not to loose it with her and I focus on Vivien.

She shakes her head slowly "I can't"

This wedding is not happening.
