Chapter Ten

Jessica continues stacking books when she spots Taeyeon  enter the book store with Hyoyeon and an older person. She watches as Taeyeon chats happily with the older female before following the girl to another side of the bookstore leaving Jessica speechless and confused. Wasn’t Taeyeon suppose to be chasing after her? Jessica couldn’t help but growl before stalking away from her job.

As she makes her way across the bookstore she spots Hyoyeon browsing through some books. She walks over to the unsuspecting girl before pinning her against the shelves. “I have questions,” states Jessica.

“Well…no answers,” responds Hyoyeon as she pushes Jessica away and begins walking away. Jessica huffs while watching Hyoyeon walks away. She tries to follow the girl only to run into Taeyeon who was happily speaking to the girl she was with.

“Sorry,” mumbles Jessica as she tries to walk away.

“Jessica!” shouts Taeyeon surprising every one.

“Hello,” states Jessica as she turns around and gives a smile before tyring to walk off.

“Where you going?” asks Taeyeon.

“Um…work.”

“You should stay here.”

“I don’t want to invade on your date,” responds Jessica sourly.

“Date?” asks the tutor sounding confused. “What date? Kim Taeyeon,” growls the tutor as Taeyeon backs away hands waving back and forth in front of her body.

“It’s not a date,” states Taeyeon, “you’re not even pretty anymore…I mean-“ Taeyeon flinches waiting for the hand of the tutor to strike her. When she doesn’t receive the blow she laughs, “Thanks Hyo,” responds Taeyeon as she opens her eyes to see Hyoyeon holding onto the tutor’s wrist. “Don’t know what I’d do without you.” Hyoyeon nods her head before shoving the tutor off somewhere. Taeyeon then turns to Jessica with a grin. “You were jealous,” states Taeyeon.

“No I wasn’t,” responds Jessica as she marches away with Taeyeon trailing behind her. “What happened to not chasing me?”

“I’m not,” Taeyeon reaches up and grabs a book showing Jessica, “Needed this for my tutoring session.” She turns around and heads to the cash register leaving behind a speechless Jessica. Jessica stands in her spot and watches as the older girl leaves with her sister and tutor.

*****

With a grin upon her lips Yuri hands a customer their bag with the new shoes they had bought before seeing Jessica enter the store. “Do you need help with anything?” asks Yuri while watching the older girl walk to the register.

“Yeah…I want to know what happened between Taeyeon and Sunny,” states Jessica.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” responds Yuri as she turns her back to Jessica.

“What do you mean? Aren’t you suppose to be the idiot’s best friend?!” Yuri shrugs her shoulders, “What are you guys hiding?!”

“Ssh,” states Yuri with her back still to Jessica. “Look it’s best if you stay out of that stuff. Just date Taeyeon like a regular girl. No need to look too deep into Taeyeon’s life.”

“You guys are hiding something, and I’m going to find out-“

“Why? it’s not like you’re interested in her,” states Yuri with a grin as she turns and looks at Jessica.

“No,” answers Jessica as she marches out the store running into Tiffany, “You…we need to talk.”

“Can’t I have a date with Yuri,” responds Tiffany as she gives her sister a smile before walking towards Yuri.

*****

“I think that you should go back to your old life and stop trying to be normal. It’s too much of a hassle,” states Hyoyeon as she pushes her sister into the living room of the smaller house.

“Well I don’t want it,” responds Taeyeon. “It’s no fun. Always this and that.” Taeyeon plops down on the couch grabbing the remote and turning the television on. Only to have Hyoyeon walk over and cut the thing off.

“Hyo,” states Taeyeon.

“I fired the tutor,” states Hyoyeon, “and I’m going to get in trouble for it. So I want you to get in the kitchen and read the book you just bought.” Taeyeon groan and stands up heading to the kitchen.

“You should be listening to m-“

“Just do it and stop complaining!” A knock on the door catches Hyoyeon on her way to the kitchen. She turns around and opens the door seeing Jessica. “What do you want?” asks Hyoyeon sounding a little annoyed.

“It’s good to see you also,” retorts Jessica, “where’s the midget?”

“Doing some studying. Shouldn’t you try that?”

“Midget!” shouts Jessica sounding irritated. They both hear the sound of the chair scraping against the floor before Taeyeon appears into the view.

“I knew you’d chase after me!” states Taeyeon happily. Jessica rolls her eyes as Hyoyeon groans. “So you’re here to be my girl friend?”

“No…but I’ll go out on another date if you agree to do something for me,” answers Jessica.

“What?”

“You tell me what went on between you and Sunny and why you broke up.”

“NO!” shouts Hyoyeon while trying to shut the door.

“Okay!” states Taeyeon happily.

*****

Yuri was smiling while watching the girl across from her who was eating. She was happy in fact ecstatic. Tiffany has been giving Yuri her undivided attention and Yuri loves every bit of it. “So Yuri,” states Tiffany breaking Yuri out of her trance.

“Y-yeah?” responds Yuri flustered.

“I’m quite full…I’m sorry I didn’t eat a lot.”

“O-oh it’s okay.” Yuri scratches the back of her head, “um…would you like to go on a walk?” Tiffany nods her head as Yuri signals a waiter. “I…um, I’m very sorry for about lying to you about the car.” Tiffany nods her head again, “and I really like you.”

“I can see,” states Tiffany while smiling.

“No I like really like you,” states Yuri as she pays for the meal before standing up; Tiffany copying her movements. She leads Tiffany out of the diner holding the door open for the older girl.

“I can tell,” responds Tiffany a little sadly.

“And I know that you don’t exactly like me, but this date is the best thing to have ever happened to me. And I wanted you to know that,” states Yuri gaining more confidence as she turns and gives Tiffany a smile. The guilt in Tiffany starts to settle in, “And I’d also like for you to know that I’m okay with the fact that you might not ever want to spend time with me.” Yuri begins heading down the sidewalk when Tiffany pulls her back.

“I-i…”

“It’s okay,” says Yuri while holding on to Tiffany’s hand. They continue the peaceful stroll as Tiffany’s eyes continue to watch Yuri taking everything in.

*****

“According to Sunny your evil-“

“Is that why you don’t want to be my girl friend?” asks Taeyeon while looking at the group of neighborhood kids.

“Can we not talk about that?” asks Jessica sounding a little irritated.

“Why not?” counters Taeyeon.

“Just explain Sunny’s reason for hating you!” shouts Jessica.

“Fine,” huffs Taeyeon.

“Thank you,” states Jessica as she pats the shorter girl on the head. Taeyeon could only smile at the sign of affection.

“Um…she asked me out. I didn’t even know who she was,” states Taeyeon.

“So why’d you agree?”

“Because she liked me and I didn’t want to hurt her feelings.”

“So why’d you humiliate her?”

“I didn’t do it on purpose,” states Taeyeon, “it was on accident really. I like to joke and so does my group. So she received the end of a few jokes. We all did once in a while.”

“I’m talking about the dance.”

“Oh that? It wasn’t intentional really.” Jessica arches a brow, “The guys were going to get another victim and she just happened to show up at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

“Why’d you break up?”

“Because I’m-“

“That’s enough Taeyeon,” states Hyoyeon finally speaking after having to listen to the two older girls bicker. “She broke up with Sunny, because Taeyeon didn’t want to put the girl through anymore of the group’s idiot mistakes and stuff.”

“What kind of stuff?” asks Jessica.

“The kind of stuff that if I tell you I will have to kill you,” states Hyoyeon seriously receiving a disapproving look from her sister.

“Yeah right,” states Jessica not noticing how serious Hyoyeon was. Hyoyeon looks over at her sister who shrugs her shoulders.

“Well let’s go home,” states Taeyeon as she turns around and walks with Hyoyeon.

“What about the date?” asks Jessica.

“Don’t want,” responds Taeyeon while trying to be serious.

“Really?”

“Yup. Unless you want it?” Taeyeon stops in her tracks and turns around to look at Jessica.

“No.”

“Okay then,” She turns back around and continues home with her sister.

“I can’t believe she doesn’t want a date,” states Jessica before heading home.

*****

“Thank you for tonight,” states Yuri as she backs away from Tiffany who was standing in front of her house. Tiffany nods her head and watches as the taller girl begins on her way home.

She bites her lips and continues watching until, “Yuri!” Yuri stops and turns around, “Um…can I um…have you number?” Yuri’s eyes widen as she hurriedly runs back to the older girl, “I had fun tonight and I want to be able to do it again.” Yuri nods her head as she takes Tiffany’s phone out the girl’s hand and saves her number into the memory. “Thank you.” She nods her again as a pair of lips make contact with her cheek. “I’ll see you later.” She turns around and enters the house leaving a grinning Yuri outside.

She heads up the stairs to her room only to be snatched into Jessica’s bedroom. “Jessi!”

“We need to talk about what you did,” states Jessica as she shoves the younger girl onto the bed. “We’re sisters now Tiffany, and what you did-“ Jessica’s eyes widen at the feel of Tiffany’s lips against her. Her mind goes blank for a few seconds before she shoves Tiffany away. “Tiffany!”

“It’s not fair!” shouts Tiffany before storming out of the room.
