Barkpaw choked out as his breath became weaker and weaker. The tom glanced at him with an unreadable face as he backed away. His amber eye made contact with Barkpaw's yellow eyes.

The tom's deep voice echoed in the dark, "Good."

Shivers danced on his pelt as he could breathe again. The sound of heartbeat filled the room as the tom came closer. His shadow lingered on the ground and a ghostly whisper could be heard, "Keep all of these secrets, or your life will be taken."

Barkpaw nodded immediately as he stared into the darkness. He steadied his breath and tried to calm the panic.

The tom was watching him...

He knew...

he wanted to run away from the den and from the nightmare, but his legs would not allow him to. Terror sucked the very breath of his mouth as pulse beating in his ears, blocking out all the other sounds.

He knew something bad would happen...

Shouts broke out in the clearing as screams resounded. Barkpaw sat up silently as he glanced around quietly. Something must have happened. 

At the corner of his eyes, he could see a cat approaching him. 

"S-Shadedstar-" Covepaw screamed.
