Rain's POV

"Guys, Ember has returned," Razer said.

That little reckless [beep]! I thought. He better have a good reason. I'm already worried sick about Stella, so I don't need another reason to panic.

"Ember!" Moon shouted. "Don't you know how worried sick I was! Don't you ever do that again! Ember? What's wrong? And for the first time, I noticed that Ember was crying.

"Ember? What in the Lord's name happened?" Alex asked. "Is that a sword?"

"Of course it's a sword, you idiot!" Sheila yelled at him. "What did you think it was? A toothpick?"

"Both of you, shut up!" Meeps scolded them.

Ember took a few deep breaths and stared right at me. "I'm sorry," he said, softly.

"Sorry? Why are you sorry? Ember what happened?" I asked him. "EMBER! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED!?"

"It's Stella," Ember said, and my whole life froze as he said. "She's dead."

No.

Everybody turned to look at Ember and then at me, their faces sympathetic, but I didn't want their pity right now.

I just wanted Stella back.

But it was too late now, and it was all Ember's fault.

"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT, EMBER!" I yelled. "I HATE YOU!"

"Rain..." he pleaded.

"No," I said. "Don't you dare come near me again. If I ever see you again, I swear on the Ender Dragon,  I will kill you."
