Hidden Wishes

Every night I lie awake,
Hoping for the storm to break,
Wishing on the deadly stars,
Or the lights of nighttime cars,

Wishes seem to float away,
Like the sun and its rays,
Never there to the place,
That all the wishes seem to race,

Mine seem to fade to nothing,
Others turn into something, Mine always come in last,
Others seem to go so fast,

Where is the place of wishes?
Is it a palace of ashes?
Or a sparkling diamond city?
Perhaps a soda that is fizzy.

Wishes fall to a death,
Never to take a breathe,
Stars are good and others bad,
Not a chance to be sad,

Gather all the hopeless wishes, Fold them into neatly creases,
Go down to the riverbed,
I'll be waiting just instead,

Give them hope,
Help them cope,
Breathe them life,
Or else their is a sharpened knife,

I know a wish I wish every day,
Perhaps it is kinda cliche,
It is my deepest hidden secret,
Lies never hurt this bullet,

I love you with all my heart,
Now I wish it on a star,
Please realize I hold you close,
And I never want to let that go.
