I woke up. My eyes were blurry and I grabbed something for balance as I stood up. Drying blood had stained my shirt and when my vision cleared, what I saw almost made my heart stop.

The once peaceful village was littered with blood and a few bodies of the villages. Is it all my fault? I wondered, feeling the world spinning beside me.

I blacked out again as I felt a gentle arm carrying me somewhere.

When I regained consciousness, I noticed that I was on a bed. The place I was in was lighted with a few torches. It looked like a carved out cave, and I could see stone on the walls.

"Where am I?" I asked, trying to get up. A person quickly darted forward to stop me from siting up.

"Rest," he commanded in an insistent voice.

My instincts told me that he was only trying to help so I lay down, trying to sleep.

"You are in my home, a couple of blocks away from the village I found you at," he said.

I took the chance to study his features. He was wearing dark clothes with a hood, and he was holding onto a pinkish potion.

"Drink this," he said.

I drank it and instantly felt better. It must have been a healing potion.

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice softer than usual.

The figure froze. "Don't you know?" he asked.

"No," I replied in confusion. "I never met you in my life before!"

The person sighed and muttered to himself, "Forgetting in that process is common anyway."

"What process?" I asked, more firm this time.

"You are not ready to know," the person replied. "I am a mage if you want to know."

"Mage?" I said, blinking.

"Nevermind," the mage sighed. "I know who controls the zombies."

"Who?" I asked, interested.

"Mobs are ruled by their kings," he explained. "If the king is killed, the killer will become the king. Therefore, the king of the skeletons killed the zombie king, and controls the zombies to attack villages."

"Where can I find the skeleton king?" I narrowed my eyes.

"He is powerful," the mage replied. "But if you really want to go there, go north until you see a big iron door. Go in and you will meet him."

"I will take my chances," I replied sourly. "I rather die anyways."

"You will learn in time that such things can't be taken lightly," the mage advised. "Now, I could only hope for you to be safe. You may leave tomorrow."

I nodded, yet another feeling - anxiety? - could be felt. Even if I don't succeed, I will die trying.

~~~~
I had arrived at the big iron door that the mage talked about. It seemed to stare at me hungrily and menacingly.
It was half opened so I easily walked past the door.
I found myself in a dark room. In front of me was the biggest skeleton I ever see. It was at least 5 blocks high and it was holding a deadly and gigantic diamond sword.
"Welcome to my place little human," the king sneered. "Do you wish to stay here and be part of my personal collection?"
I followed his gaze and gulped. He was staring at a pile of bones. I definitely didn't want to be like that.
As I backed up, the door shut with a big bang. I jumped in shock and stared at the skeleton king.
He was laughing and he spoke, "Come on, don't leave. We are just getting started!"
He lunged straight for me. My heartbeat skipped a beat as I raced for somewhere to cover.
"Don't be a coward," the skeleton king taunted, swinging his diamond sword towards me.
I tried to scramble away, but I was hit and I collapsed, feeling the world fadding away from my eyes.
~~~~

I was in a lot of pain. I felt myself floating, in a dark void, as if I went into the End dimension - I think - and accidentally fell inside.

A shadowy, unknown figure was speaking. "Respawning is always hard for the first time." It was a soft tone like a mother's, which I never experienced, but yet it seemed familiar.

"If you want to respawn properly, your mind needs to be at peace."

"What respawn properly?" I forced each word out of my mouth because of the pain.

"You are different than normal players," the voice replied with a singe of regret. "If you can't find peace in your mind and you respawn, you lose your entire memory and your code will become corrupted."

"How?" I gasped out as another brust of pain struck me.

"Why are you even fighting for?" the voice asked. "Your reason to live should not be for revenge only. It needs a bigger, better and brighter reason. Then your mind will be at peace."

Suddenly, my eyes saw a different thing. Instead of the darkness, I saw sunlight shining a tranquil forest. Bunnies hopping in joy as they nibbled on dandelions.

The pain stopped. I felt a strong wind blowing towards me, then saw a blinding light.

"Your bravery will pull you through."

~~~~
I found myself back at where I was. The skeleton king didn't see me and in one of my hands is a new, diamond sword. It shone with unnatural light as I picked it up.
How did that get there? I wondered.
I held up the sword higher and ran towards the king. By then he had noticed me, and he readied his sword.
I slashed at his boney figure faster than I have ever been - strangly - and he was furious as he obviously got hurt.
"You wouldn't defeat me!" the skeleton king roared, swinging his deadly sword towards me.
I ducked and slashed at his legs. He fell and I knew that he couldn't take my blows any longer.
Taking the opportunity, I stabbed my sword into his chest. The skeleton king slowly dissolved into code and it only remained a pile of bones.
I breathed heavily, surprised that I was able to defeat him. I did it.
Then I heard crumbling and I saw something that pricked my interest. It was an enchanted book if I am not wrong.
I glanced at my sword, with a small smile.
I'm sure I will need it in the future.
