Dazed from the sudden turn of events, the grieving person got up shakily. By then, many people had already left. There were still a few bystanders watching the person.

Everyone except me and the person standing in the soot covered house. He clenched his fists, trying to overcome his emotions.

I walked forward slowly. "I'm sorry for your loss," I said, sounding rather monotone.

He did not seem to hear me. Instead, the person started muttering under his breath. "I will avenge your deaths, that is a promise."

I did not say anything. Those words reminded me of something that happened months ago.

"Revenge is not everything," I told him quietly, secretly wondering the validity of those words.

He turned around. His brown eyes met my blue ones, filled with anger and mostly grief.

"I hope I'm not interrupting," I spoke hesitantly.

"No, you're not," he said. "I'm surprised that you came, because I'm nothing compared to you."

I blinked, unsure what to say. The person sighed, staring at what was left of his house.

"I'm Hailbert," he said abruptly.

It felt like something hit me when Hailbert introduced himself. I put out my hand. "Nice to meet you," I said.

"Nice to meet you too, Frost," Hailbert responded, shaking my hand.

After the introduction, I wondered if I should tell him my suspicions about the prophecy. I was pretty sure he was the one, but you never know.

"What are you going to do now?" I asked.

"I will fix my house and get revenge on whoever did this to my parents," Hailbert clenched his fists. He relaxed and turned to me. "Will you help me?" he asked.

"Me?" I echoed, confused.

"You defeated Herobrine," he said, sounding as if it was obvious.

"I died," I said bluntly.

"But the fact remains that you were brave enough to fight him," Hailbert said. "No one would have done it."

I realised that I couldn't persuade him that I was not the hero that everyone thought I was.

"I guess I will help you," I told him, much to his delight.

"Thank you for helping me to avenge my family," Hailbert responded. I blinked, frowning. Those words made me feel rather uneasy.

"Is everything alright?" he asked.

I didn't reply immediately and let out a quiet sigh. "Follow me," I said. "I want to show you something."

Hailbert nodded, looking confused. There was silence as we walked to the place I wanted to show him.

The harsh bright light of the sun was softening into a warm, orange colour as we headed closer to our destination. Perfect timing, I thought.

We reached a watchtower. Without hesitation, I opened the door and gestured for Hailbert to follow.

I climbed up the ladder, with Hailbert at my heels. Once we got up, Hailbert turned to me. "So... this is it?"

"Yes," I said, looking at the sunset. "This was the first building I built in the Kingdom. It has a nice view too."

"You didn't take me here to talk about the view," Hailbert said.

I nodded and started my tale. "You see... Hailbert... revenge can really change a person. Even though I only just met you, I believe you are a good person."

He only raised his eyebrow in curiosity.

"I had a friend once," that familiar heartache was back. "He was just like you - wanting my help. He wanted to get stronger. I agreed and I... regretted that decision ever since."

"Why is that so?" Hailbert asked.

"I..." my voice faltered. "One day, I realised that his fighting style was... different but familiar to me. He seemed to change so much, therefore I asked him. He said he was fine, but I didn't believe him. I followed him after practice and found out something terrible. He was training with someone I never seen before, but that person's look of menace was enough to tell me who he is. That person was some... entity created by Herobrine."

"What?" Hailbert couldn't resist bursting in.

"That entity teleported away before I could do anything and I was forced to face the person I called "friend". Trust me, I tried to convince him to wake up. He wouldn't. So... I killed him," I was trembling.

"He wanted revenge on the monsters that took away his mother... in that desperation, he chose a path with no return."

Hailbert was speechless. "That explains it," he said. "Thank you for telling me this."

"You are welcome," I said.

"By the way, what was his name?" Hailbert asked. "Just asking."

I smiled sadly. "His name was Tom."
