By the end of the day, everything was fine. Mirabela's nerves were completely calm, and everyone was supporting her a lot.

"Doing okay, Mirabela?" Enrique asked.

"Muy bien, Enrique," Mirabela replied, putting on her jacket. "It wasn't any less bad than what I've seen in my country, but I'm glad I pulled through."

"You know what they say," Rodrigo said. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger."

"I'm just lucky someone found me when I really needed it," Mirabela smiled.

"Good to know," Enrique smiled. "Well, we'll see you tomorrow?"

"Nos vemos," Mirabela smiled back. She went off into the parking lot and met up with her father and grandfather. "Hola, Papi, Abuelo."

"Hola, Mirabela," Guillermo smiled.

Mirabela climbed into the car, and Guillermo drove off to the house.

"Well, Miraboo, I'm very proud of you," Bruno smiled. "Speaking up the way you did was a very brave thing to do."

"Gracias, Abuelo, and now that the Godfreys and popular girls are gone, I feel safer in Peacock High," Mirabela smiled.

"Good, and you should feel safe at school," Guillermo said. "If a bully won't stop harassing you, then kicking them out of school is the best way to really make you feel safe."

"I wonder if Ruby will feel safe at her new school in Brazil," Mirabela said.

"Whatever emotional abuse she suffers from, I certainly won't feel sorry for her," Guillermo said.

"Well, enough about all this," Bruno said. "Now that mi nieta is safe at school and in Peacock City, we should celebrate tonight."

That night, the family got together for dinner, and Mirabela had just gotten a postcard from her second cousins living in Las Vegas. The picture on the card was of buildings with beautiful lights.

"Las Vegas looks like a colorful version of Bogotá," Mirabela smiled.

"You know, nena, I was talking to your tío Pablo while you were at school today, and he invited us to come and see him and your cousins while you're on spring break," Bruno smiled. Pablo was his younger brother living in Las Vegas, and they had a great relationship.

"That sounds like fun," Teresa smiled.

"We'll book our airplane tickets after dinner," Guillermo smiled.

"I think I'm going to like living here in the United States," Mirabela grinned.

"Good to hear, Mirabela, and we'll be going back to San Pedro for a vacation this summer," Bruno smiled.

"Looking forward to it, but for now, I just want to enjoy life in Peacock City," Mirabela smiled.

The entire family agreed. After everything they'd been through, they really needed to enjoy themselves in their new residence.

Mirabela really hoped to never deal with someone like that again. She was proud of her culture, and she wasn't going to let anyone make her feel bad about what she did or where she came from. She also learned that she should feel safe at school and that if anyone made her feel otherwise, she could always talk to the principal—and she could always rely on her family. If you don't feel safe for any reason, you can always talk to someone you can trust.

The End.
