Just a note..  We don't actually live in Niagara Falls, but quite close to said city.  I wasn't going to write where we live IRL, and I wanted a more instantly recognizable city, so N.F. was just purr-fect for that!  (And I'll occasionally slip a Ninjago soundtrack into this 'show', when it works for the scene that I've written!  You have been warned!)  ;)

Kat and Storm are sitting in Science class, listening to their teacher, Miss Shapiro, explain Newton's Third Law.

Well, Kat's listening with rapt attention.  Storm is...  Sleeping.  Again.

Miss Shapiro pokes Storm.  "STORM!!!"

Storm gives an extra-loud snore and then snorts, blearily muttering.  "Jus-  Five more minutes, Mom!"  Her chin slips downwards, and she falls onto the floor.  She doesn't wake up, she just continues sleeping where she's fallen, completely splayed out.

Miss Shapiro looks on helplessly.

Kat sighs.  "Allow me...  Storm, COOKIES!!!"

Storm jolts awake.  "MINE!!!"  She leaps up into her chair.  "Where?!!"

"Oops!  Sorry, you just missed them!"  Kat giggles.

"Not funny, Kitty!"  Storm grumbles.  Kat purrs, and their classmates laugh.

"Since I now have your undivided attention...  Storm, can you tell me what Newtons' Third Law is?"

Storm looks momentarily confused.  "Who..?  ..Ohh!  The apple dude!  It's..  Uhh..  Something about pie?  NO!  Wait!  Luck?  ..Or is that the fourth..?"

"Wrong on both counts!"  Miss Shapiro suddenly raps Storm's desk sharply with her ruler, making the girl jump.  "Your thoughts are cluttered and chaotic, just like your desk!  Clean it!"

Storm groans, but obeys.  Miss Shapiro looks around.  "Does anyone know?"

"Ooh!  Ooh!"  Kat excitedly waves her hand in the air.

"-Someone other than Kat, for a change?"

The pupils avoid making eye contact, hemming and hawing.  Storm quickly ducks under her desk and can be heard a moment later cooing,  "Oooh!  A cookie!"

Miss Shapiro facepalms.  "Can you not think for yourselves anymore?!"

A boy in the back row calls out.  "We don't need to!  We have Kat!"

Kat raises an eyebrow at the teacher.  "May I answer now?  My arm's getting sore."

Miss Shapiro sighs.  "Fine.  Go ahead."

Kat smiles and clears her throat.  "Ahem!  Newton's Third Law.  For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.  There now!  That wasn't so hard, was it?"  She asks.

A nasty snicker sounds from behind her back, and a girl speaks up, badly imitating her voice.  "That wasn't so hard, was it?  HA!  Nerd!"

Kat doesn't even bother turning around.  "Ah, Courtney.  It's got to be quite liberating to be so dim-witted.  You simply must tell me how McDonalds is working out for you.  For with your low intellect, that's the only place that you could possibly work.  That is, if you even know what work means."  Kat states demurely.

"I-!"  Courtney's face contorts with rage, and she raises her hand to hit her.

Kat suddenly spins around with frightening speed, glares icily at Courtney, and hisses,  "Just try it.  If you do, I'll decapitate you with my bare hands, so help me.  Got it?"

The bully gulps and gives her a scared nod.

Storm high-fives Kat.  "Nice!"

The bell rings, and everyone packs their bags.  "Don't forget, your assignments are due in three days!"  Miss Shapiro calls out.

Storm catches up with Kat in the school hallway.  "Hey, Sis!  I've heard the Midway has a new arcade game!  Wanna check it out?"

Kat grins.  "Sure!  We can invite some of the others, as well!"  The two girls run over to a few friends and ask if they want to join them.  Several say yes, and soon, a small group of teens forms.

Storm sticks her tongue out at Courtney.  "We're not inviting you.  Mainly 'cause you're a level-ten jerk.  Deal with it."  The younger flounces off, leaving the bully speechless.

"Hey Kat?  Are you bringing your brother along, too?"  A darker-skinned, black-haired girl asks, her Spanish accent quite evident in her words.

"I don't know, Abby.  I'll have to ask him."

A younger boy laughs.  "I don't know if he'll want to, not after last time."

Kat narrows her eyes.  "What did you do, Peter?"

An older girl speaks up sheepishly.  "Actually, it wasn't my little brother then.  It was me."

"Yeah!"  Peter pipes up.  "Gemma's pranked a lot of people, too!"

Everyone in the group simultaneously replies with,  "WE KNOW!!!"

Gemma grins mischievously.  "I may or may not have dumped a bucket of water on him as he was playing an arcade game."

Kat looks thoughtful.  "Well, that explains the squelching noises..."

"-But he's fine now!"  Gemma insists.

"Fine?!!  You nearly electrocuted him!!!"  Abby bursts out.

"It was awesome..!"  Peter says dreamily, with a wistful sigh.

"He did seem slightly singed, now that you mention it."  Kat mutters.

As her brother walks by, Kat addresses him.  "Mat, want to come with us to the Midway?"

He takes one look at Gemma and quickly backs away, his eyes wide with alarm.  "Uhh..  No, thanks.  I've got something to do..  At home!  Um..  Yeah!"  He runs off, and Gemma gives Kat a smug look.

"You're welcome."

-At Kat's house-

Mat saunters up to his mother.  "Mom, can I go on the computer for a couple of hours?"  He asks, flashing her his most charming smile.

"Why do you need so much time?"

"World of Tanks is having a special event today.  It's the Return of the Waffenträger-"

"-Absolutely not!  You won't come off the computer!"

Mat's smile immediately vanishes.  "But-"

"NO!"

"Fine!!!  Then can I go to the Midway?"  The boy grits out.

"Do your chores first, then we'll talk."

Mat walks out and slams the door closed behind him, then runs up to his room and slams that door too with a growl.  He pulls out his laptop and clicks the mouse.

-Meanwhile-

"Ahh..!  A boy who just wants to play all day, but his mother won't allow him to.  Perfect prey for my parasite!  Yenni, INFECT THE MASSES!!!"

-At Kat's house-

Mat grips the laptop mouse ferociously.  His knuckles turn white and he glares angrily ahead at the screen, muttering about how he wishes that the laptop had internet connection.  A pinkish-grey worm wriggles under his bedroom door and heads directly for the mouse, boring into it.  He becomes still as Parasitica speaks to him.

"So you'd like to play, but your mother won't let you?  How frustrating!  Well, from now on, your life will be one big game!  Cyberbrat!  I'm giving you the power to make the whole city your own personal playground, but I need something in return.  The Miraculous of the Raven and the Spider.  Find them and bring them to me!"

Mat nods and grins evilly, narrowing his eyes as a cloud of dark mist descends upon him.  "Let's play..!"

-Meanwhile, at the Midway-

Everyone in the group has either paired up or struck off alone.  Gemma and Peter are competing against each other in a Western-style shootout game in the back.  Abby is trying her luck with a Spin-to-Win game propped against the side wall, hoping for a big win.  And Storm and Kat are near the air hockey tables, playing a game in which you shoot peanuts into zoo animal's mouths as a zookeeper.  A game which Kat is shockingly good at.

"How are you so good at this?!!"  Storm gasps, panting as she tries to keep up with Kat's rapid and precise firing.

Kat shrugs, not even taking her eyes off of the screen as she answers.  "We've got an air rifle at home.  Maybe that's why."  Her eyes suddenly light up, and she fires once.

The game suddenly plays a little tune.  WINNER!!!  WINNER!!!  The message lights up onscreen, and Kat grins.

"YES!!!  Double points!!!"  Kat yells out jubilantly.  She triumphantly shuffle-dances around Storm as the arcade unit feeds out a very long chain of tickets.  Kat rips them out of the machine when it's finished and waves them under Storm's nose.  "..And because it's all about when you start the game.  Wait for the power-ups, and then begin shooting."  Kat winks at her friend.  "-You get way more points that way."

"Hmph!"  Storm pouts.

Kat raises the tickets.  "Now let's cash these bad boys in!  What do you want?  A plush, or-?"

"Ooh, a plush, please!"

They walk over to the cash-in point, and Storm starts feeding the machine the tickets.  Until it jams.  "Aw, nuts!"  Storm grumbles.

A guy about her own age notices her issue and comes over.  "Don't worry about it."  He says, crouching down and reaching into the slot,  "-Sometimes these things just need a little-  Ah!  -Jiggle."  He finishes triumphantly.

The machine suddenly begins working again, and Storm's jaw drops as the boy gets up and faces her.

She giggles and blushes madly when he makes eye contact with her.  "T-Thanks!"  She squeaks out.

Kat grins.  "She says that she'd like to know your name and what school you go to."  As Storm glares at her, Kat crosses her arms and smiles serenely.

"My name's Evan.  And I'm actually going to a new school tomorrow."

"Is it Martha William's School for Child Prodigies, by any chance?"  Kat asks innocently.

"Yes!  How'd you know?"

"We go there, too!"  Kat high-fives Storm.

"I-I'm S-Storm!"  The girl stammers.

"And I'm Kat.  With a 'K!'"

"-And together, we're the bringers of CHAOS!!!"  They shout together.

"You'll love hanging out with Storm, she's hilarious!  And she can show you all around the school tomorrow, too!"  Kat pushes her friend closer to Evan.  "Now, I'm going to check out that game..  Over there!"  Kat says, pointing in a random direction and slipping away.

-A minute later-

Kat is just about to play another game when there's a massive explosion at the front doors.  She whips her head around as a bolt of energy zips by her and fries the arcade unit she's using.

"HEY!!!  I was playing that!!!"  She shouts out indignantly.

A villain walks into the building.  He's wearing a deep-blue techno suit with electric blue circuitry running along it.  He wields a large, slightly triangular weapon that's wired to his arm, which he fires at people.

"Children!"  He sings in an electronic voice,  "-Come out and play!"

A child scream, and the villain presses a button on his weapon and fires.  The child disappears in a flash of light, and Cyberbrat steps where he was.  A computerized voice announces, Collecting Plasma..  Plasma collected.

A tank suddenly manifests around him, and Kat ducks down.  "Alright, I've seen enough!  Tokka, let the-"

Tokka lets out a shrill scream as her wing gets hit.

"TOKKA, NO!!!"

-End of Part One-

1762 words!  And man, am I excited for Part Two!  We'll be seeing new powers, (don't worry, I'm not making you all wait until Season Two before we get to see what the other Miraculous can do!) and a new hero!  WOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!  😸

A.N.  And yes, the scene with my brother getting upset is a pretty much word-for-word account of what transpires in our household most days!  😒
