(Sheng Mey's Pov): The next day!

I bolted upright at the crack of dawn, having barely slept a wink last night. Despite the incessant coughing up of blood, my entire body is signaling that something is wrong. How could my illness have returned? I cannot afford to let anyone know about my heart disease—it's too much for my friends to handle. Furthermore, the Lan Sect of Gusu is unaware of this, and I managed to clean up the mess last night. As I rose from my bed, memories of the Po family flooded my mind. 

'Man, I miss them; I wonder if they are worried about me?' Shaking that away, patting both my cheeks as I walked to my closet, opened it, took out a dress that matched me perfectly & some shoes too, combed my hair into my usual ponytail, tidied my room, and brushed my teeth with a special toothpaste:

After that, I was about to open my dorm so that I could have some fresh air until someone knocked on my dorm and said: "Good morning, Mey-Mey! Did you sleep well?" 'No, I didn't because I saw a vision of the incident!' "Yes, I did!" I quickly responded by crossing my arms over my chest, but it seemed to me that they both didn't believe my response, "Mey-Mey, I can tell that you are lying. You don't need to lie, remember?~" Wei Ying said. 

Sighing in defeat at him, I nodded in shame and changed the subject: "What's up?" I asked cheerfully to the boys as Wei Ying sat down on my bed; Jiang Cheng, who also sat down on a chair, polished his sword with a handkerchief while I started to ask, "Jiang Cheng, can I ask a question? What kind of personality do I have?" By accident, Jiang Cheng almost cut himself with his sword with a shocked look on his face, but he then coughed out: 

"I don't know, but maybe it's your...elegance a-and uh...your perfection?" I was stunned by his answer, but I think he's right. I am always a perfectionist when it comes to BL (Boy's love), so yeah, I act like everything needs to be perfect, but I don't mind doing it with my adopted brothers: "Woah, that was a good answer. Wangyin. You almost made her stunned." Wei Ying told him, by lying down on my bed while I started having trouble with my hair. 

"Ugh! Damnit!" I exclaimed. "What's wrong, Mey-Mey?" 

I struggled with my light blue ribbon, attempting to fashion it into a ponytail. Seeing my struggle, he offered to help. As he worked on my hair, a voice boomed through the dorm, "Wei-Xiong! Wei-Xiong!" Nie Huaisang burst in, sliding the doors open, exclaiming, "Today is your lucky day!" Wei Ying, Jiang Cheng, and I turned to him, curious. "What's going on?" I inquired. He reassured us, "Nothing's wrong. Last night, the old man went to Qinghe for our sect's conference!" "WOW, !~~" we all exclaimed.

"No school for the next few days!"Nie Hauisang & Wei Ying's eyes sparkled like they were ready to thank heaven. I then pointed out: "After all this time, I thought we all be goners for life!" He smiles at himself and says, "Okay, all done!" "That was-WOAH! You're really good at this, thanks!" I hugged him, and he returned and then started to sit next to me by saying: "This really was my luck; even though the heavens are helping me, hahahahaha!" 

We started cheering and celebrating, but Jiang Cheng ruined it: "When he comes back, he continues: "You're both still going to get both punishments." This made him puff out his cheek; I, on the other hand, told him: "Why should the living care? I cross my arms and head: "We'll keep up the carpe diem until then...C'mon, let's go do some carpe diem!" 

Wei Ying told us all with a smirk crawling over his face...again...I chuckle and raise my fist by wrapping my arm around Jiang Cheng, who almost fell but luckily stood still as I cheered: "Let's make everyone's day the best!" "Exactly! Let's go!" We all left my dorm, and I started to wonder about my thoughts. 'I can have fun around town than looking it up on the internet!' I said inside my thoughts with a smile as we all began to talk for a while. 

In the hallways of the Cloud Recesses~

The 4 of us [Wei Ying, Jiang Cheng, Nie Hauisang & me] strolled around the Cloud Recesses, deep in conversation, the topic of Master Lan Qiren's departure from the previous night arose. Wei Ying expressed his disbelief at the absence of even a few small pheasants on the mountain of the Lan Sect, saying, "I refuse to believe I can't even find a few little pheasants on this mountain of the Lan's Sect." His remark elicited laughter from Nie Huaisang, while Jiang Cheng, growing concerned, advised him to "tone it down a bit."

I chuckled at him confidently as I replied to Wei Ying: "I'm pretty sure that the pheasants are hiding somewhere inside the mountains. You just need to be patient, Wei Ying." Before we could continue walking, & the guys spotted Lan Zhan & Xichen walking toward us, Wei Ying & Lan Zhan's eyes met in a matter of seconds, "Huh? These two are...Lan Zhan!" I breathed. 

My heart stopped at the sight of him and kept quiet in front of us, which filled the air with more tension, biting my tongue as I tried not to say. Until Lan Xichen interrupted the silence by making a close-eye smile at us: "You two are?" He asked. As Lan Zhan turned his head around to not face me nor Wei Ying, I puffed my cheeks, "Tsk, typical for him to ignore his crush." I mumbled under my breath, mentally rolling my eyes at Lan Zhan. 

Little did I know that Lan Xichen heard me without even saying anything to me, only the part that the Twin Heroes of Yummeng started making introductions to them: "Wei Wuxian of Yummeng." "Jiang Wanyin of Yummeng." As they bowed by greeting them, Nie Hauisang and I smiled as he showed his face from behind Wei Ying and spoke: "Brother Xichen." 

"Good morning, Lan Xichen." I curtsied the Twin Jades of Gusu. On the other hand, he returned it by bowing at me along with his twin brother Lan Zhan, "I hope you enjoyed your day." "Oh I did, in fact, I just heard that there is a place to look around, what do you recommend?" I questioned him politely.

Smiling at him made me want to hug him so badly, Lan Xichen is an angel of the heavens but still wondering what he would look like if he got angry, that could be scary. My thoughts were interrupted by Lan Xichen, who responded: "I will have to recommend that in Caiyi Town is a beautiful place to look around & there is also a lot of restaurants that you should go." "I'll take your word on that." He smiles at me and decides to talk with Nie Hauisang: "Hauisang," he continues telling him: "Some time ago before I returned from Qinghe, your brother asked me about your studies. How have you been? Would you be able to pass this year?" 

'By the looks of Xichen's calming tone, it almost sounded like he wanted him to stop making excuses, poor Nie Gonzhi, ' I thought sadly about him. He scratches the back of his neck nervously, replying: "Probably..." 

[A/N: OKAY, SHORT CUT FOR A BACKGROUND= Since two years ago, when he first came here to Gusu, Nie Hauisang's grades never passed a 'B,' thus his brother always forced him to retake the test.] 

He sweatdrops quietly, but then I notice that someone is giving me a death glare right in front of me, "Lan Zhan, I continued with a smile: "Are you giving me glares again?" This got all the boys' attention, including Lan Xichen, who suddenly turned to his younger brother, still smiling, but when Wei Ying saw Lan Zhan's cheeks red color, I glanced at him. 'He's smirking again? Oh boy...The tease master has come to life again! Poor Hanguan-jun.' I thought worriedly about it, "What are you two planning on doing?" 

He asked brightly to Xichen, who smiled and responded: "To exterminate water ghouls, he continued: "We are short of hands, so I returned to fetch Wangji." Water ghouls? I heard about them in my village (what I only look upon 9anime).

"There are rumors that the Wen Sect decided to move them out of their OWN rivers away from their people. Thinking it was a 'great' idea to send it here in Caiyi Town, to make a lot of trouble." After finishing my explanation, Xichen took my knowledge about Water Ghouls by surprise. As for the others, Their mouths were hung open. "I am very surprised to know that you know some theories about it, would you like to come with us?" 

However, I began to watch everyone as Lan Zhan grabbed his brother's wrist by dragging him out with his face half-covered by his bangs: "Brother, there is no need for small talk. The matter permits no delay. Let us depart immediately." He said coldly to him, but Wei Ying stopped them as he shouted out: "Wait. Wait! I know how to catch water ghouls!" Raising his hand in the air, and began to tell Xichen about it as he began pointing out it: 

"In Yummeng, we catch water ghouls all the time and we have no lessons for the next few days, Zewu-jun, could you take us along?" Xichen still smiles while his younger brother began scolding Wei Ying, "That is not necessary, the Gusulan sect is also..." Before Lan Zhan could finish his sentence, his brother cut him off by replying: "Sure then, many thanks for the help. You all can prepare. We will depart together. he continues: "Would Hauisang & Lady Sheng like to come as well?" Xichen asked. "Yes, and I promise not to make your brother uncomfortable. I swear." 

I said truthfully, while Nie Hauisang quickly replied: "I'll pass; I think I need to review for my lessons..." He said sadly, but I chipped in the conversation, "Speaking about lessons, Nie Gonzhi." I started thinking about how to help him until I got an idea, snapped my fingers, and told him: "After we all finish capturing the ghouls with the Twin Jades of Gusu, why not let me tutor you?" 

"Really? But do you need payment?" I shook my head and chuckled as I patted his shoulder with a warm smile: "No need. Besides you, my friend and friends help each other out, right?" This made his eyes sparkle, bowing to me in the process, and he started hugging me, and I returned the hug: "Thank you, Mey-Mey!"  He smiled. We released the hug as Wei Ying began to wrap Jiang Cheng's neck with a big smile: 

"Let's go! Time to get ready for catching water ghouls!" He said excitedly until Jiang Cheng spoke: "Please be careful and not get into any more trouble." Walking away from them by using my hearing abilities again so that I can eavesdrop more on the conversation even when I'm far away from Lan Zhan & Xichen, who began talking about the water ghouls hunting trip:

"Brother, why did you bring them?" Lan Zhan asked his brother with an 'unpleasant' tone, as he continued: "Exorcism is no laughing matter." Xichen chuckled at this. "The Head disciple and son of Sect Leader Jiang are quite well-known in Yummeng." He continued: "But Lady Sheng's past is indifferent. I think she could be the first female to join the Lan Clan of Gusu, but no worries; she's also highly capable." 

Lan Xichen continues as I listened to the conversation even more: 'NO SH*T SHERLOCK, OF COURSE, THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT ME.....But why? Join their clan? I couldn't...Lan Zhan still doesn't believe I am innocent (except me from the 21st century). Not even myself can handle anything special...'  I shook my thoughts as I continued hearing their conversation even more: "They should know more than laughing." Xichen turns to Lan Zhan with an angelic smile: "And you wish for them to go as well, do you not?"

As soon as Lan Xichen roasted his brother about his feelings/hatred towards me & Wei Wuxian, Lan Zhan however, turned his 'serious' expression into a shocking one as he turned to his older brother without noticing that I was staring at him for who knows how long. 'Still, I tried to understand their conversation again. Lan Xichen's words were always so calm, but inside, he was doing this on purpose, why me?'  

Wei Ying stopped talking and told his brother about me; he smirked and said that I never forget my embarrassment in front of the guys: "Mey-Mey?" he continued: "Are you falling for Lan Zhan?!"  At that moment, I tensed up with my face turned into a beat red color, gripping onto my skirt, 'don't say anything, don't say anything, just calm down Mey, relax'. Repeating myself over and over not to attack him, but my fighting decision took over me by tackling him to the ground with a flick of my wrist.

Turning to him, I finished with a sweet smile and my dark aura. I gave him one last glare before offering a hand. Wei Ying accepted, smiling through the pain. Lan Zhan's heart felt stabbed at the sight. "I only agreed because you looked like you wanted the head disciple of the sect leader & Lady Sheng to come along." Xichen smiled cheerfully at his little brother, who looked away with his golden eyes and started to feel shy of himself to know something about his crush. 

Lan Zhan could feel his ears turning pinkier by the minute; without hesitation, he answered him with the full remark: "There's no such thing!"'Ouch, that's harsh!'  I thought with a low giggle at his remark by hopping the guys with me to get ready, walking towards another hallway I saw the kitchen and tapped Jiang Cheng: "Hey guys, before we head off to Caiyi Town, I was wondering... I wondered but continued: "How about we take some snacks on the way, no?" 

This got the Twin Heroes of Yummeng's attention. They smiled as they both began to agree to my request by giving me a thumbs-up. Running off to the kitchen for only a few minutes until I came out with the same lunchbox I used yesterday; I opened it to them, revealing some frozen desserts.

"WOW, MEY-MEY! Those look delicious for our adventure, right!?" *thumbs up* Wei Ying said in awe of my talent, while Jiang Cheng playfully shook his head and wondered: "Are we going or not?" He asked. "Yes, Dad." I teased him, making him pissed: "You-!" "OFF TO CAIYI TOWN, GUYS!" I cheered by ignoring his defense, with a smile on my face.
