Sonnet 26: The Poet
(Inspiration 15)

When I look up into the sky above
And wonder what you're thinking of tonight,
I see your handsome face with eyes of love
That dote upon the shadows of your light.
Your light ignites the embers of my heart
That smolder in the shadows of your absence,
Which fade upon the breeze a fading art
And steals away my wit within an instance.
The night surrounds me when you are not here,
Obscuring you from every doting thought;
But in my dreams when you should chance appear
To smile at me, no longer am I fraught:
       Because I find a sense of peace in you,
       Believing that you feel the way I do.
