Sonnet 47: Interlude 1
(Crown of Sonnets 5)

Till all's decided at the end, why don't you
Relax yourselves and take a breather here;
'T would better serve that it not disappoint you
T' assume the worst and give our youth no ear.
All done? Magnificent! Our handsome lord
Of love had spent his time amongst her scarlet ilk;
But now alone, he spies the stars above
That dot the sable night with gems of silk.
And so in his mind's eye, he often dwells
Upon the love-sick bard he once commended,
Believing all his acts to be the spells
Of unrequited love he once defended.
      But in his heart, he carries more the shame
      To fall for such a woman, sharing blame.
