The planning for the wedding took a lot longer than you had expected. Morvran had insisted on having a wedding while the season was warm. Since it had already been autumn when he had proposed, the two of you had needed to wait till next year.

You had used the spare time to visit the mansion and fix the majority of it. The villagers helped gladly, whenever there was something to do. Their gratitude saved a lot of time, making it possible to create a proper home in less than six months.

Now, the mansion had a proper roof again and walls that were freshly painted. The garden had turned out to be your project. While Morvran was busy with building a stable for future horses, you planted herbs and vegetables that were important for your medical supplies. The both of you enjoyed every single minute of time that was spent at the new place that slowly turned into home.

Everything felt right, the place, the man, even the time. So this was it, life at its finest. You had never know something like this before. But if felt great. Almost too good.

But despite everything being perfect, you couldn't help but feel pressured. With each day that passed, the possible date of the wedding came closer. As the edge of spring began to fade into summer, the villagers became nervous and excited. As if it was their wedding, the women began to bring flowers and fabrics to the mansion, to make sure that everything what they intended to do was to your liking.

A little overwhelmed, you and Morvran were sitting at the long table that was standing in your dining hall and smiled as much as you could to cover up the fact that none of you had an idea of what was really going on. The villagers had insisted on preparing the wedding, since Morvran was their new master now and it was part of their duties.

"This one looks nice.", Morvran said, pointing at a bunch of yellow flowers.

With an unsure gaze, you looked up to him, trying not to be too rude.

"You... like the colour?", you asked, while ignoring the women that were talking non-stop about table decoration, meals that had to be prepared and the right fabric for clothes that suited a wedding.

You had noticed that some of the villagers wanted the two of you to marry in the traditional clothing of their village. Others wanted you to have garments that suited your status as nobles.

With a blushing grin, he shrugged.

"I don't know? Maybe blue would be better? Do you like blue?", he asked.

You weren't quite sure.

The evening went by as if the hours were running. Exhausted, you fell into bed and wanted to fall asleep immediately, only to tear your eyes wide open as realisation hit you.

"We're getting married tomorrow!", you yelled.

Morvran nodded.

"Thrilling, isn't it?", he asked and hugged you from behind. "I hope you learned your vow. I won't marry you without a proper vow."

He laughed, obviously joking and fell asleep.

You, on the other hand, kept your eyes open until long after. You had not prepared a vow. At least not an own. You wanted to take the vow your parents had given each other at their wedding. But right now that idea seemed to be a little out of place.

As you awoke next morning, Morvran was gone. He had left a note, saying that it wasn't proper to see each other before the ceremony. So, he had made his way to the chapel in order to avoid meeting you. It was sweet, honestly, but the thought to see him at the altar for the first time of the day made you even more nervous.

While your heart was beating inside your throat, the women of the village had the time of their lives. Laughing and giggling, they helped prepare you for the big day. They washed you, did your hair and made sure that every single crumb of dirt under your nails was gone. Helping you to get into your clothes, they acted a little bit like your mother. It made your heart go heavy to know that your parents would never see this big day.

"Oh, you look so stunning.", one of the younger women said, while looking at you with big eyes. "I wish I'd look like this on my wedding day. Here, take this. It will connect you with the commoners."

With a smile, she placed a flower crown on your head and wrapped a flower necklace around your neck twice.

"Now off we go. We are probably too late already.", an elderly man said, demanding for you to finally move.

The way to the chapel wasn't hard. But as you stood right before its doors, your legs got a little weak. Breathing heavily, you tried to keep your heart calm.

Before the doors opened, one of the bridesmaids handed you a bouquet of red flowers and winked, hinting that everything would turn out fine.

Praying to the gods, you put on the happiest smile you've ever smiled and walked down the isle. Everyone was looking at you, people gasped and began to talk about how much you would suit the master.

With a broad smile, Morvran offered you his hand and helped you to get up the last few steps to the altar. He was wearing the same flower crown like you but his suit was what impress you. He had ditched the black and gold of Nilfgaard for the white and green of Toussaint. It suited him very well.

"You look perfect.", he whispered, holding your hand.

You blushed.

"We have gathered here today.", the priest began. "To witness the connection of those two people. May the sun of happiness and harmony always shine upon them. Morvran and (Y/N), exchange your vows now."

Grinning like an idiot, he looked at you. His hands were holding your tight as he took a deep breath. Tears were shimmering in his eyes.

"Little stray.", he started with a weak voice. "My love for you shall always be as clear as the water that runs through our river. I shall never be filled with doubt when your face crosses my mind and my heart shall beat for you and you only from this moment on. I wish to keep you happy till the rest of our days, you shall never hunger while I am alive. Your life shall be my life, your death shall be my death. And from this very day on, I Morvran, will be the very man you deserve and nothing less."

His words drove tears to your eyes. It made you even weaker in the knees. Swallowing thickly, you tried to sort your thoughts.

"Morvran, my love, my life. From this day on we shall be equals in high life and death. I shall give my heart to fill yours with warmth and safety. My body shall protect you and my mind shall challenge you. Together, we will thrive to be one, united by heart and soul. My eyes shall only cry for you, my mouth shall only laugh for you and my heart shall only beat for you. I pray that our end will never come but our evolution and a new beginning. Because without you, my love, I do not want to be."

Silence spread for a second.

"You may kiss.", the priest allowed, causing everyone to cheer.
