Summary: Tomboy Vada Sultenfuss (Anna Chlumsky) has good reason to be morbid: her mother died giving birth to her, and her father (Dan Aykroyd) operates a funeral service out of their home. The other kids think she's a freak, and it certainly doesn't help that her best friend, Thomas J. Sennett (Macaulay Culkin), is a boy. To make matters worse, Vada is desperately in love with her English teacher, Mr. Bixler (Griffin Dunne). What's an 11-year-old girl to do?

Genre- coming of age drama

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. They recently put it back onto Netflix so I of course watched it for the millionth time.

This is a timeless coming of age classic. I love coming of age films so if you know any good ones leave them in the comments!

Don't watched this if you don't want to cry, because this is a full on sob fest. I need to quit watching so many sad movies. But I just can't stay away from this one. It is such a beautiful film about friendship and family and loss.

Vada is such a relatable character if you are socially awkward and introverted like me. She's so funny and she feels so real.

Casting for this film was on point. Every choice= perfect. These guys are and left no crumbs. The casting directors better have gotten a huge raise after this.
