A/N: A chapter for going over the first installment of the Star Wars prequels

Star Wars. One of the greatest franchises of all time. It only has it sparked many kinds of children's fantasies and dreams, those who were interested in space fiction, it led to the formation of said genre to be one of the most popular genres of popular media in history.

It created famous references, catchphrases, and especially penetrated the hearts of many people with both the mystical energy known as the Force and one of our most beloved fictional weapons, the Lightsaber.

The original trilogy has indeed became whole in just three movies without any plot holes or issues that ruined the overall movies. It would be remembered for decades to come and possibly even centuries. But if anything, there was only a few questions that came to our minds....

What happened? How did the Empire came to be? What was the Clone Wars? How did the Hero, Anakin Skywalker fall into the Dark Side and become the tyrannical Iron Fist of the Empire known as Darth Vader? And how did the Jedi fall with the Rise of the Evil Galactic Empire?

These questions haunted us for quite some time and when all of them soon came to light by none other than George Lucas........ Well.....

THIS was certainly not what we expected.

I could explain how the hell did the prequels become such a controversial mess that we all came to love and hate at the same time, but I would much rather fix it than anything.

But if anything, I might only love the prequels because they were made by one director, the same guy we all love for making Star Wars. So here's a video about the prequels in case you guys want more info about why they suck and why don't at the same time compared to the Sequel Trilogy.

So anyway, now is the time for me to fix what went wrong with the first and possibly, the worst prequel movie of all time. Now is the time for me to make a Reborn version of The Phantom Menace.

Reborn:
As done in the original movie, the story begins with the classic Lucasfilm logo and then the famous title card we all know and love as Star Wars. With the title card being followed by this opening crawl.

Episode 1: The Phantom Menace.
Turmoil has engulfed the Galactic Republic. The taxation of trade routes to outlying star systems is in dispute. Hoping to resolve the matter with a blockade of deadly battleships, the greedy Trade Federation has stopped all shipping to the small planet of Naboo. While the congress of the Republic endlessly debates this alarming chain of events, the Supreme Chancellor has secretly dispatched two Jedi Knights, the guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy, to settle the conflict....

As done in the original movie, the Trade Federation upsets order in the Galactic Republic by blockading the planet Naboo in preparation for a full-scale invasion and to have Naboo surrender to their terms of greedy trading policies.
(It sounds dumb that the first Star Wars movie in all of history begins with a bunch of trade wars, but I couldn't come up with anything better for the Trade Federation to start beef. If you guys have better ideas, please help)

The Republic's leader, Supreme Chancellor Finis Valorum, dispatches Jedi Master Qui-Gon Jinn and his apprentice, Obi-Wan Kenobi, to force an agreement with Trade Federation Viceroy Nute Gunray and end the conflict as soon as possible. They arrive in his ship and they await his presence while Obi-Wan feels suspicious, much to Qui-Gon's denial at first.
Darth Sidious, a Sith Lord and the Trade Federation's secret benefactor, orders the Viceroy to kill the Jedi and begin their invasion with an army of battle droids. They oblige and destroy the Jedi's ship, try to gas them, use battle droids and even Droidekas to destroy them, but they escape and flee to Naboo while the Trade Federation disrupts the planet's transmissions to prevent calling for outside help in the galaxy or from the Senate. During the invasion (and this is where things become different), Qui-Gon saves the life of a Gungan outcast, Jar Jar Binks, from being blasted into oblivion by scout Droids by pushing him behind a bunch of trees. In this reborn story, Jar Jar Binks is not dumb, not ANNOYING AS F*CK and is actually just an average Gungan who happened to be banished from his home for being foolish at times and would be punished if he was to return, especially with outsiders.

Which means he doesn't constantly try to annoy Qui-Gon and the Jedi Master simply tries to get rid of him without as much small disdain in the original before regrouping with his Apprentice. Indebted to Qui-Gon, Jar Jar points out that a Droid army has already sieged the Surface City and they were just scattering their excess cities in the forests to block out any form of escape for the City's inhabitants, at least what he believes after figuring that the Jedi came to stop them. Obi-Wan feels like things will be much more difficult, but Qui-Gon assures him to not lose hope so soon and asks the Gungan if there is a way to get around the Droid armies. Jar Jar reveals that there is and he leads the Jedi to Otoh Gunga, an underwater city of Naboo.
Ounce they reach the city, they're arrested with Jar Jar and are taken to the Gungan leader, Boss Nass. As done in the original movie, Qui-Gon tries to persuade him into helping the planet's surface dwellers but are unsuccessful due to their own petty differences. However, the Jedi Master uses the Force to persuade the leader into giving him Jar Jar as Qui-Gon's "servant" for his guidance underwater and an aquatic vehicle transport to Theed, the capital city of Naboo. As done in the original movie, they escape from predatory fish underwater with Jar Jar guiding him to the direct routes through the planet's core besides the Force, rescue Naboo's queen, Amidala, and escape from the blockaded planet on her Royal Starship, intending to reach the Republic capital planet of Coruscant.

Their shields are damaged and as done in the original movie, astromech droids are sent out to repair the shield generator. All of them die except R2-D2, who brings the shields back online by bypassing the main power drive and allowed the ship to escape via hyperspace (with the best introduction in all of Star Wars history). Meanwhile, the Viceroy report to Darth Sidious about the Queen escaping from their grasp and the Sith deciding to send in his apprentice, Darth Maul as done in the original movie. Back in the hero's perspectives, the ship is damaged from their escape from the Federation blockade and the hyperdrive is caught in the crossfire, rendering it useless while R2 is commended for his actions. As a reward, he's being cleaned up by the Queen's servant, Padmé while she interacts with him and Jar Jar. (Except in this story, Jar Jar still isn't dumb)

Jinn suggests to the Queen they land for repairs on the outlying desert planet of Tatooine, which is situated beyond the Republic's jurisdiction and the lead guard, Panaka objects since the planet is ruled by the dangerous crime lords known as the Hutts as done in the original movie. But the die has cast in order for everyone to make it to Coruscant, the Capital of the Galactic Republic, alive since the Hutts won't be looking for the Queen unlike the Trade Federation. Qui-Gon, Jar Jar, astromech droid R2-D2, and Padmé (as the Queen's representative to explore the planet's civilization) visit the settlement of Mos Espa to purchase equipment for their ship. They encounter the shop's owner, Watto, and try to negotiate a price for the parts needed as done in the original movie, his fourteen-year-old slave, Anakin Skywalker, interacts with Padmé while fascinated by her beauty.

In this reborn story, he is not 9 and much older to the same age as Padmé (so their future relationship won't be awkward due to their age gap), meaning he is slightly more mature and is more of a kind, and creative child than a bratty over confident one in the original movie (since he was raised by a kind mother and taught to be better than the people he meets often in Mos Espa). He is still a bit confident and snotty in order to act tough in a city full of gangsters, but not around the people he trusts. His first words to Padmé is not the whole angel question, but actually an greeting and introduction of himself to the Handmaiden. Without being too shy, he talks with her and is kind towards her, even offering some bread he bought for himself when he was on break during his day shift. While Padmé herself thought he was quite odd for a slave boy since he didn't appear as a thief or in any form of a criminal like she believed all people of Tatooine to be, but charming to say the least. While Jar Jar basically fools around with the Eye Droid like in the original movie and the boy calmly states to hit the nose.

(Oh and by the way, this is what he looks like but without the Jedi haircut and Jedi uniform)

Later when the group seeks shelter from an incoming sand-storm, Anakin decides not to leave them out alone in the sandstorm and offers them shelter at her mother's home. At Shmi's home, Anakin tells his mother about some strangers he met who are seeking shelter until the storm passes and asks if they can stay, much to her approval after seeing that they meant no harm. Anakin then decides to show Padmé his creation since he's aware that she's curious about everything and reveals his first protocol Droid, C-3PO while Qui-Gon is a bit curious about the strange boy, who seemed to have some sort of presence that he can't put a finger on. As he's at the table, he has a talk with Shmi about the boy and she describes how he's a gifted pilot and engineer who has built his own Pod racer in secret from Watto. While Anakin reveals that one day, he'll free himself and his mother from slavery with his expertise and pod racer.

Just as things seem to be calm in the house, C-3PO (the clumsy droid he is), trips on a wire and is about to fall until Anakin suddenly lends his hand out upon noticing, causing the droid to levitate only an inch from the floor and slowly lifts him back on his feet, which Qui-Gon noticed himself and senses a strong presence of the Force within him. As the boy was back to socializing with Jar Jar, befriends R2-D2 as he helps the boy fix up C-3PO while Padme talks with Shmi about the slavery topic like in the movie, Qui-Gon is convinced that the boy is prophesied as "The Chosen One" while communicating with his apprentice via intercom device. (Oh, and this time, Midichlorians don't exist. They're just too confusing to think about and they remove a chunk of mystery out of the Force). So he talks with Obi-Wan about how the Force is flowing through the boy calmly, but also a bit fearful due to possibly the way he lives as a slave. As the apprentice is attempting contact with the Republic, but with their own transmissions disabled due to the damages they received from earlier from the Trade Federation blockade.

Qui-Gin ultimately decides to make a solution and has a talk with Shmi about their plan to have Anakin enter the pod race in order to make a wager with the greedy gangsters on the desert planet, with Anakin eavesdropping and getting involved eventually to show his own courage to help buy his and his mother's freedom. Especially after hearing said plan and deciding to seek help from the Jedi Master while hearing of his secret mission with Padme and the others to head to Coruscant (since he revealed his identity after spotting his lightsaber, but in a less obnoxiously childish way). The next day as he is unable to acquire the required hyperdrive parts, Qui-Gon wagers both the hyperdrive and Anakin's freedom with Watto in a podrace. Anakin wins the race while beating his rival (nothing much changes in those scenes and Sebulba's challenge with Anakin still starts again with Jar Jar being foolish) and joins the group to be trained as a Jedi, much to his reluctance greatly as Shmi will not come with him due to still being a slave and nearly refused until his mother convinced him to live a better life. En route to their starship, Qui-Gon encounters Darth Maul as done in the original movie, having arrived a while ago and spied on them with his spy droids, with the intention to capture Queen Amidala. A lightsaber duel ensues, but Qui-Gon quickly disengages and escapes onboard the starship before they escape the planet.

Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan escorts the Queen to Coruscant so that she can plead her people's case to Valorum and the Galactic Senate as done in the original movie, except while Anakin kindly bids farewell to his new friend Padme. Qui-Gon asks the Jedi Council for permission to train Anakin as a Jedi, but the Council refuses, concerned that Anakin is vulnerable to the dark side of the Force. Due to his fears from leaving his mother on Tatooine and too old to be trained as a Jedi as tradition goes. Undaunted, Qui-Gon vows to take up Anakin as his new apprentice with Obi-Wan ready to face the trials into becoming a Jedi Knight. Meanwhile, Naboo's Senator  persuades Amidala to call for a vote of no confidence in Valorum to elect a more capable leader and to resolve the crisis. Though she is successful in pushing for the vote, Amidala grows frustrated with the corruption in the Senate and decides to return to Naboo while brushing off the Senator's concern for her safety. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan are ordered by the Jedi Council to accompany the queen and investigate the mysterious return of the Sith as done in the original movie, whom they had believed to be extinct. The Council also permitted Skywalker to accompany Jinn, and the three returned to the Queen's starship, where Skywalker questioned Jinn about the Force out of curiosity instead of the midi-chlorians. In which Jinn explains the mysterious but mystical Force to him (similar to how Obi-Wan explained it to Luke in the fourth movie). Anakin is fascinated and wonders if he could use it to help free his mother and possibly many others, leading Jinn to smile and say, "Only if you are given the right guidance is when the Force will help you save them all in your journey."

The Queen and her retinue departed not long afterward, leaving Coruscant and heading back to the occupied Naboo in hopes of freeing the world from the Trade Federation. On Naboo, Padmé reveals herself to the Gungans as the real Queen Amidala and persuades them to join in an alliance against the Trade Federation as done in the original movie. Jar Jar is promoted to general (for some reason) and joins his tribe in a battle against the droid army, while Padmé leads the search with her men and the Jedi for Viceroy leader, Gunray in Theed. Both battles in the movie do not change, except Jar Jar being less clumsy. (At this point, I don't care what happens with Jar Jar anymore. I'm only focused on the more important overall story in hand). During a battle in the starship hangar, Qui-Gon tells Anakin to wait in the cockpit of a vacant straighter after denying the boy's need to help them. Darth Maul has infiltrated the palace and engages Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan in lightsaber combat as in the original movie. Anakin becomes a little frustrated, wishing to help Jinn until he accidentally activates the ship's intercom and hears the other Naboo Fighters' need for help in the space battle above the planet. He instinctively activates the ship and it automatically takes him to the battle against the Federation droid control ship with R2 stirring in panic since the boy appears to be going mad, at least until the boy gets used to the ship's controls (due to them being similar to pod racing mechanics), without being so annoying like his original counterpart in the movie. He says as he shoots down some fighter droids, "This is where the fun begins!" (I'm actually in need of help for a original cool quote in this scene. If you have an idea for such quote, please let me know and thank you)

During the battle, Maul mortally wounds Qui-Gon with his lightsaber, but is then bisected by Obi-Wan and falls down a pit as done in the original movie. (One of the most badass fights of all time, so I'll just leave it all alone as it is) Anakin blunders into the control ship's hangar and causes its destruction from within before escaping, deactivating the droid army in the process. After the duel, Qui-Gon requests Obi-Wan to train Anakin, and dies in his arms. Palpatine is elected Chancellor, and Gunray is arrested. Jedi Master Yoda promotes Obi-Wan to the rank of Jedi Knight and reluctantly accepts Anakin as Obi-Wan's apprentice. During a funeral for Qui-Gon as his body burns, Obi-Wan promises Anakin that he will train him well after hearing the boy saying that he misses Jinn. While Mace Windu and Yoda talks about the confirmed return of the Sith, as well as as their question of who died and who didn't according to the Sith's Rule of Two. The master or the puppet? Right before the scene turns to Palpatine as done in the original movie. In a celebratory parade, Padmé presents a gift of gratitude to Boss Nass and the Gungans to establish peace while Anakin smiled happily with R2 chirping in the background, feeling joyful towards the peaceful beginning of an era of harmony and inspired to spread such peace throughout the galaxy as a future Jedi Knight. And Obi-Wan having trouble not smiling, feeling somewhat appreciated of such peace that the Jedi have sworn to protect. Then the movie ends with the blue credits as usual.
