𝒐𝒐𝒐.          ATLAS BISHOP WAS A MURDERER. HE WAS A MONSTER. THERE WAS SOMEONE'S BLOOD ON HIS HANDS. He didn't want to believe it but it was true. River Warren's lifeless eyes haunted Atlas every time he closed his eyes. Atlas couldn't go to Azkaban, he wouldn't. He didn't want to spend his life in a cell. He had his entire life ahead of him, he was only seventeen for crying out loud. He was still a fucking virgin. He couldn't go to jail. Atlas had exams to study for, his gigantic crush on Remus Lupin to figure out, new friends to make. He couldn't go now. Not ever.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.       REMUS LUPIN HAD HELPED HIS CRUSH HIDE A FUCKING DEAD BODY. He'd been on his usual prefect rounds around the fourth and fifth corridors when he'd seen the familiar blue hair of Atlas Bishop. His entire body had instantly warmed at the thought of the attractive Hufflepuff only for a cold chill to rush over it when Remus caught sight of a very dead River Warren beside Atlas. Atlas stared up at him, his hands dripping with blood, his cheeks stained with tears and a bloodstained knife thrown a little ways away.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.      ATLAS HAD COME TO THE REALISATION THAT HE'D ACTUALLY WANTED TO KILL RIVER. When River first approached him, Atlas had known what was to come. The usual insults, the word 'mudblood' thrown around a few times but never did he think River would try to kiss him. Atlas had been frozen, disgusted with River's lips on his. He'd pushed him away, asked what the fuck he thought he was doing. River had continued, he touched Atlas places where Atlas did not want him to ever touch. Atlas wanted him off. He wanted River off of him and in that moment, he'd taken a hold of his pocket knife and driven it straight through River's stomach.    

𝒐𝒐𝒐.      RIVER WARREN HAD STILL BEEN BREATHING WHEN REMUS HAD SENT ATLAS TO GET A SHOVEL AND A LARGE BAG. After seeing Atlas's terrified face Remus had made his decision. He promised Atlas that as long as Remus was alive, Atlas would not go to Azkaban. Ever. Not on his watch. Atlas had stumbled to go find the stuff Remus had asked for, he'd only just left when Remus heard it. Breathing. Shallow, laboured breathing. River was still alive. Remus's promise to Atlas echoed in his ears as he put his hand over River's mouth and kept it there until he could no longer feel the warm breath oozing from his mouth. Remus had made a promise and he's tick to it. Forever.

𝒐𝒐𝒐.   IT WASN'T LONG BEFORE NEWS SPREAD OF RIVER WARREN'S DISAPPEARANCE. Soon Aurors had shown up at Hogwarts. They were there to investigate. River had last been seen in Hogwarts and there wasn't any way he'd be able to leave which led the Aurors to believe that he was still in the school. A week later and River's body was dug up. The school was in shock. That's when the interrogations began. Students had told the Aurors of Atlas's dislike for River and vice versa. The Aurors had hoped to retrieve a confession from Atlas. To condemn him for murder but the marauders and Lily Evans had stood by Atlas. They'd started working on pieces of evidence, to make sure no one could prove that Atlas was indeed the murderer. There was no way they'd be able to arrest Atlas, not with his friends right behind him.

i. Atlas is a Hufflepuff

ii. Tim was a Slytherin prefect who found atlas out of bed and started annoying the hell out of him calling atlas a mudblood etc; atlas lost control and shoved Tim hard, he hit his head on a candelabra and the candelabra falls on his head causing massive blood loss and death.

iii. atlas should be extremely distraught because he literally killed someone, do not just jump into romance

iv. Remus is also very traumatized

v. the Aurors interview everyone and are extremely suspicious of atlas and the marauders

vi. after several nightmares, Remus comes clean to the marauders who make it their mission to cover up this crime, they then recruit lily to help since she's so smart

vii. They literally adopt atlas into their friend group

viii. Rivers's body is found and dug up, password for fic is ur favourite place to relax

ix. the rest is up to you

x. also atlas doesn't really have any real friends, just acquaintances in hufflepuff

xi. takes place in the marauders 7th year!
