The Hope Hospital

A cute young boy clad in a simple shirt and jeans with a white coat on, was sitting in an air conditioned room, totally busy in studying some reports.

Nurse: Doctor!

He looked up from the reports at the nurse and girls lost their hearts to him. Handsome, hot, cute, a package of all such compliments were less to describe him.

Boy: Yes sister.

N: Dr. actually, Dr. Gaurav had to leave for some important work and aapko......

He sensed her nervousness and asked her to relax and continue.

N: Dr. actually you will have to visit an injured actor on his behalf.

She knew he hated actors but he was the only doctor available as others were busy with something or the other. And an actor can't be taken lightly. Well that's how our society is. A sick poor person can be ignored but not a slightly injured actor.

He sighed listening her. He knew that calling him would have been the last option. He nodded at her with a slight smile. She smiled and went while he went to meet the CEO of the hospital.

He reached a luxurious cabin and entered inside. He saw the CEO's chair facing the other side and sighed.

B: Aur koi option nhi tha?

The CEO turned his chair and was revealed to be a man in his 50s. He smiled at the young doctor and signed him to take a seat.

CEO: Haan, ab bolo.

B: Why me😑?

C: Is that ur issue Dr?

B: Ofc Mr. CEO😑. Uk I hate actors. I just can't handle their attitude thing. I understand they r entertaining people but they r getting paid for that, then why so much hype😑. I don't wanna go😫. I'll replace any Dr. in the hospital, but plz not there.

C: Cool, so go attend the patients in the pediatric ward. Or go and take on the operation from Dr. Verma. But it has already started. Or.....

B(getting up):Ok ok I'm going🙄. (Turning) But that isn't fair, I'm telling you.

C: Is that how you talk to the CEO?

B: No, but that's how I can talk to my dad😒.

Z: Kaunsi movie dekhi last?

Z: My dear dad, life movie nhi h. Reality me kisi ko dekh k na hawayein chlti hain, na hi violin bjta h. Aur na hi kisi k milne se pehle mausam ekdum romantic ho jata h. I'm a practical person and Love is so lame. Koi sense bhi h? It is more like a disease where everything vanishes for a person leaving that one special one🙄.

ZD: Rehne do beta, tumse na ho payega. Tu na apne iss tab aur files k saath hi romance kr. Huhh😒.

Zain's Dad walked out of the cabin while he looked at him shocked but then chuckled thinking how childish this intelligent person becomes sometimes. Taking his coat and bag, he left for the film city.

Zain sat in the car and kept his stuff on the seat beside driver's. He fired the engine and switched on his car's radio to sooth his mind. The only thing he loved other than his family and profession was music. Ironical, isn't it? A person who doesn't believe in love, loves hearing soulful, soft, romantic music.

Z: The only relief point of my day😌.

RJ: Aaj ki shaam hai kitni haseen. Aur agr iss shaam me aapke saath hai aapki ya aapke humsafar ka saath, to kya khna. U r the luckiest. But mujh jaise single udaas na ho.

Zain giggled listening him.

Rj: Kyuki hum bhi aaj nhi to kl, kisi se takra hi jayenge. Kyuki dil hmari sunta kahan h, vo to bs pyaar krna jaanta h. To kisi na kisiko, kbhi na kbhi, psnd to zaroor krega. Ab jinke saath unke better half hain aur nhi bhi hain pr vo apne hone wale humsafar k baare me soch rhe hain, unko dedicated h hmara agla gaana.

Zain tapped sometime on the tab fitted in his car to lower down the volume.

Z: Only if it could speak, Dil would have been like, mujhe sirf blood pump krna aata hai. Pyaar, feelings ko kyu mujhse jodte ho. Being a cardiologist, I can understand ur feelings Mr. Heart.

He tapped his heart in sympathy.

Voice(irritated): Ya ya Mr. Heart k boring doctor😒.

Zain immediately looked around but couldn't identify the source of sound.

V: Now don't tell me u didn't realize while picking my call.

He looked at the tab and realized that while lowering the volume, he picked up his frnd's call and now she'll make sure to show him his end. He increased the volume a bit.

Girl: Zain tu kb bahar niklega apni kitaabo ki duniya se aur iss asli duniya ki khoobsurati ko pehchanega. Dekh......

J(ignoring what he sajd): Tujhe pta h aaj mai horoscope check kr rhi thi, mujhe tere wale me itni interesting cheez mili na, ki meri khushi ka koi thikana nhi h.

Z: Chlo finally tu point pe to aayi. Jldi bta and plz let go of me.

J: Haan to.......

Z: Suspense ka koi fayda nhi h, I'm not a bit interested in this horoscope thing😒. Bta rhi h to thik vrna I'm hanging up. U've already eaten my mind😑.

J: Achha baba shaant, shaant. Mr dil k doctor, zyada gussa dil k liye achha nhi h, udk?

Z: Jass it's cardiologist, kya Dil ka doctor, Dil ka doctor bolti rhti hai.

J: Arey dil k doctor me jo feel h, vo cardiologist me kahan hai. Tu chup rh aur sun meri baat. Haan to tere horoscope me nikla hai ki tu aaj apne soul mate se milne vala hai. Yipeeeee (squealing).

Zain just rolled his eyes and hung up the call while Jasmine's mouth was in a perfect 'o'. She was about to call him again but Ali called out to her and she got busy.

Zain took a sigh of relief and then chuckled on his crazy frnd's antics. He then increased the radio's volume and heard a new song which was quite beautiful and kept humming it all the way.

As he reached the gate of film city, he realized he only knew the actor's name and nothing else. He face palmed himself and decided to ask the guard. He lowered down his window and called out to the nearest guard.

Z: Bhaiya suniye!

Guard: Ji sahab.

Z: Ye Gautam Vig kahan milenge? I mean kaunse set pe?

Gd: Gautam🤔? Ye naam suna suna sa to lgta h. Ek to kya h na sahab, hme saare sitare unke kiradaar se pta hain. Unhe yaha unke kirdar k naam se hi bulaya jata h na.

Z: Uske character ka naam to nhi pta mujhe. Shittt! Kya kru ab?

V: Rakesh!

R: Ji, aaya. (To Zain) Sahab mai aata hu.

Zain nodded. While he was still thinking how to reach the actor, the guard came running towards him.

R: Sahab, Tere Mere Darmiyaan k Ishaan sahab ko ek stunt krte samay chot aayi hai. Gautam unhi ka naam hai.

Zain smiled listening him. Though he was least interested in meeting the actor, he was happy that he could leave quickly after checking him. While he was thinking all this, he felt a constant gaze on himself. He looked at the Guard who was staring him in a way someone does while identifying a person.

R: Maine dekha h aapko kahin.

Z: Jis trh se aap mujhe itne samay se dekh rhe hain, Mai smjh hi gaya tha. Mai ek doctor hu, hospital me dekha hoga aapne mujhe.

R(ignoring what he said): Aapka naam kya hai?

Z: Dr. Zain Imam😐.

He could see the man shivering and his eyes tearing up. Zain didn't know what happened to him all of a sudden. He got out of his car and as he did, the man went flat, touching his feet, crying his eyes out. Zain was too shocked to react. He immediately made the man stand who was a crying mess. He let the man compose and then asked the reason of his sudden reaction.

Z: Aap thik hain? Achanak se kya hua?

R: Sakshat bhgwaan khde hain mere saamne. Mujhe yakeen hi nhi ho rha🥺.

Z: Ji?

R: Jis insaan ki wjh se mere ghr me raunak hai, jisne mujhe aur mere parivaar ko khushiya tohfe me dedi aur zikr bhi nhi kiya, vo mere liye bhgwaan hi hai.

Z: I'm sorry but mujhe kuch smjh nhi qa rha hai.

R: Aapko shyd yaad nhi hoga pr hua ye tha ki teen saal pehle mujhe pta chla tha ki meri 2 saal ki bachhi k dil me ched hai. Meri aur meri patni ki duniya hmari bachhi k ird gird ghumti thi. Ye jaanne k baad jaise hmare saare spne tut gye. Hmne use jahan jahan ho ska, vahan dikhaya pr saare doctors ne uske case ko dekh k saaf inkaar kr diya. Ek saal beet gya aur uske paas zyada samay bhi nhi tha.

Jb Mai apni saari ummeedein haar chuka tha tb mere dost ne aapke 'The Hope Hospital'. Jiske naam me hi aasha thi, usse ek aasha ki kiran mili to sahi pr ye pita vishwaas kr kr ke aur hr baar haarke bahot thk chuka tha. Kuch din maine kuch nhi kiya. Kaam pe dhyaan na hone ki wjh se mere maalik ne mujhe kaam se nikal diya. Aur usi raat jb Mai ghr gya to Maine dekha ki meri bachhi tadap rhi thi. Use saans lene me takleef ho rhi thi aur meri biwi, lachaar si uske paas baithi ro rhi thi. Aaj bhi vo sb sochke mai😣....

Zain's eyes had tears. We live in such luxurious life, still we complain about the small things. But we never know the breath we don't even pay attention to, can be so important to someone. He immediately hugged Rakesh. He has seen deaths, the families breaking, the hopelessness. He could not even imagine loosing his loved ones. After composing a bit, he broke the hug and Rakesh smiled at his gesture. Zain saw his dull face brightening as he continued.

R: Uss samay mujhe sirf ye pta tha ki mujhe apni bachhi ko bachana hai. Kaise? Kahan? Paise kahan se aayenge? Inn sb savalo k jawaab khudko dene ka samay nhi tha mere paas. Maine ek taxi bulayi aur meri manzil tha aapka Hospital.

15 min me hm pahoch gye lekin mujhe sbse zyada dar tha paper work me zaya hone wale samay se. Mai apni bachhi ko god me liye andar pohcha. Kisi ward boy ne hme dekh liya aur vo stretcher leke aaya. Jb tk mai formalities ki baat krta, vo smjh gya ki use dil ki koi problem h, aur sidha OT me le gya. Mujhe kuch smjh nhi aa rha tha. Meri biwi roye ja rhi thi. Maine use smbhalna uss samay zaroori smjha. Hmne mn bna liya tha ki shyd aaj hmne hmari beti ko aakhri baar dekha hai.

Hm bahar chairs pe baith gye aur itne din ki thakaan ki wjh se neend ne hme apne aagosh me le liya. Uske baad hme kisi ne uthaya aur btaya ki hmari hmari bachhi....

His voice choked but Zain wanted to know what happened. He held him by shoulders giving him support to continue.

Z: Vo thik hai na🥺?

R: Usne hme btaya ki operation successful raha. Aur hmari bachhi bilkul thik h. Aur observation me hai.

Zain covered his mouth with his hands filled with joy. That's the best part of a doctor's profession. He hugged Rakesh who was already smiling in tears. After sometime, they broke the hug.

R: Maine soch liya tha ki jitna jaise hoga, m paisa dunga aur alg Pura nhi ho payega to kuch bhi krunga. Lekin hme btaya gya ki operation k 1 lakh rupay ki payment ho chuki hai.

Z: Wait wait wait, shyd mujhe yaad hai. 3 saal ki bachhi, uski surgery maine hi to ki thi. Kafi critical case tha. Bahot pyaari bachhi thi.

R: Ruhi.

Z: Ruhi, exactly. And mujhe ward boy ne btaya tha ki uske dad kisi se phn pe baat kr rhe the ki paiso ka arrangement nhi ho pa rha. Itni si bachhi ki jaan paiso k liye to daav pe nhi lgayi ja skti thi and paise operation se pehle dene hote hain to Maine payment krdi thi.

R(joining hands): Meri duniya lauta di aapne aur zikr tk nhi kiya. Hme to baadme pta chla ki Zain Imam naam k dil k doctor ne hmari bachhi ki na sirf jaan bachayi, blki uska payment bhi kiya. Thank you sahab.

Z(holding his joined hands): Nhi plz aur vaise bhi vo paise aapne chuka hi diye the.

R: Haan pr jis samay hme zaroorat thi aap....aap farishte hain.

Z: Arey nhi nhi, blki Mai to khunga ki aap Ruhi ko leke kisi din hospital zaroor aayein.

R: Ji.

Zain suddenly remembered he was there for some other work. He face palmed himself and sat in the car to go.

Z: Achha to mai chlta hu.

R(wiping his tears): Aapko raasta pata hai?

Zain nodded in a no.

R: Aaiye mai aapko bata deta hu.

He was going to get his cycle but Zain convinced him to sit in his car.

R: Aap jaise log duniya me hain, isiliye duniya kayam hai sahab.

Z: Arey nhi nhi, aisi koi baat nhi h.

R: Vaise aap jahan ja rhe hain, vaha pe Preeti ji se zaroor miliyega.

Zain looked at him with a questioning look.

R: Unka asli naam to nhi pta mujhe. Meri beti ko pata hoga. Vo bahot bahot achhi hain. Thik aapki hi trh, itni bdi hasti hone k baad bhi, zara sa guroor nhi. Jaise vo apne set pe sbse milti hain, vaise hi hmse bhi milti hain. Ek baar Maine unhe btaya tha ki meri bachhi unka serial dekhti hai aur unse milna chahti hai. Unhone dusre din hi unhe bula liya. Vo uss pure din unke saath rhi aur ab unki roz baat hoti hai.

He chuckled while telling while Zain couldn't help being utterly amazed. This Preeti sounded interesting. An opposite of his perception. And he didn't know why but she took over his mind. Rakesh called his frnd and went back with him while Zain got down from the car.

As he entered the set, he saw a spot boy and asked him Gautam urf Ishaan's vanity. He went directly inside but to his wonder there was a girl backfacing him. He kept his coat and bag on a stool there and called out to her.

Z: Mam!

Girl: Aap aa gye. Jldi kr dijiye Dada. Mai shot k liye late ho rhi hu.

Zain didn't know what she was talking about and before he could think further, she held his hand and made him stand behind a chair on which she took a seat. He saw her in the mirror. She............
