Being A Woman

These days women are...

You perhaps might have heard
Conversation in snitches
Directed at you in some ways
Which burns through your bones
Like that eternal pain of hell

These days women are...

Ugh why?
Why is it necessary to celebrate
Women doing stuff which
For men are normal to do

Oh right!
For years we've not been allowed
To do anything
Beyond the wishes
Of the society that strangles us
And throttles our dreams

And now that we are 'allowed to'

Oh yes, we are 'allowed to'

They 'let us' do what was our birthright
And then celebrate a day
Of 'letting us' do what we should've done
Normally had they not interfered
To 'keep us safe'

In chains of patriarchy

To 'keep our dignity'
So others like them can't dip in
And savour us
Without our consent
We might have been
'One of those girls that were done with'

Savour, you heard it right

None of us want to be a 'hot bomb'
Or be dubbed as 'queens in pageant'
And show off our assets
For them to judge us by the size

Trust me size matters
Of their brains
They have less grey cells perhaps
If they think we are just toys
Or objects created
To satisfy them
But still they 'let us' do things
That we earn by our merit
And they want us to be thankful
That they 'let us' exist in peace

What a calamity!

Being a woman isn't hard
In spite of bleeding every month
Or dealing with a hundred other
Naturally gifted hurdles to us
We are okay with being who we are
Until they make it hard for us.

Don't teach your daughter that
'Being a woman is hard'
Instead teach your son
Not to 'make it hard'
For any woman to just relish
Her basic rights as a human

That's all we need
Before you treat us special as a woman
Learn to treat us as a equal human first!

HAPPY WOMEN'S DAY
