Just some different light sources and what the shading would look like.

1. No shading. Just the colors
2. Light source is where he is looking. I did a horrendous shading job. :T
3. Light is from behind him. Basically, his natural color is on the edges of his form and you color the inside a darker color.
4. Color is coming from the viewer almost. Maybe just a little bit to your left. I am actually quite proud of this on.

So for shading, basically just get a darker color than your creature's natural color and think about where the light is coming from. Also think about overlapping fur and body parts. If the item you will be shading is behind something, then in almost all cases it needs to be shaded. If it is in front, it usually does not need to be. So all I can say really is think about the light source and what it will be hitting and not reaching. Shading is hard and takes practice, but if you practice, you will succeed! Hope I helped!

And Iamafellowartist , what do you want me to do for the coloring tutorial?

That smug face though :T
Enjoy!
