ACT ONE:
EXT. JESSICA'S BEDROOM - NIGHT
CELL PHONE CAMERA KID POV: - JESSICA'S BEDROOM
A hooded boy with cellphone brushes over a group of people at a party. ERIN SANCHEZ, 17, holding a beer, stands next to JEREMY LAYMAN, 18, and captain of the rugby team, at the front of a group. ADAM COHEN, 17, pale, blue patches of skin, unconscious, barely breathing, and teeth marks on his left arm. Adam's face is porcelain smooth, and his bite marks and the blue patches fade from view. JESSICA SANCHEZ, 17, pushes through the crowd with SAMANTHA, a hot cheerleader in a bikini.
JESSICA
Is he okay?
HOT GIRL IN BIKINI
Do we need to call 911?
Adam lies on the bedroom floor with his eyes shut, lifeless. Suddenly his eyes snap open, glowing florescent AUBURN. He takes a deep breath, and he smiles, licking his braces. The camera pans towards Adams' lips with shaky hands to reveal fangs.
INT./EXT. HANNAH'S CAR — FLASHBACK — NIGHT.
ADAM COHEN'S POV - FLASHBACK
HANNAH COHEN,16, petite with brunette hair, drives down a road in silence. ADAM COHEN, 17, nerdy with braces, and glasses, wearing a hoodie, dark trousers, and converse shoes, sits in the passenger seat playing a game on his cellphone. Hannah comes to a stop and pulls over in front of Jessica's HOUSE. Hannah peers over to the passenger side in the mirror while applying an extra coat of red-tinted lipstick. Without looking away, she reaches into her makeup bag beside her in the middle console and retrieves her mascara, applying it to her lashes while she mad dogs Adam through the mirror.
Adam peers up over at Hannah from his console.
Hannah takes a deep breath and sighs sarcastically, placing the mascara back into her makeup bag. She quickly zips it up and puts it in the car's back seat.
HANNAH
Stay in the car, okay?
ADAM
Cool.
They both roll their eyes before Hannah opens the door and makes her way toward the house. Adam stays in the car. He unbuckles his seat belt, makes himself more comfortable in the car, and drifts off to sleep.
INT/EXT. HANNAH'S CAR — FLASHBACK — NIGHT
Tap on the window wakes Adam. He looks out the window to see ERIN SANCHEZ, 17, jumping in front of the window and sliding his face against the glass. Adam jumps back, throwing his phone across the car towards the other side, and Erin laughs, tapping on the window again.
ERIN
(Yelling)
Open the door!
ADAM
Okay, geez!
Adam slowly unlocks the door and opens it. Erin slaps hands with Adam awkwardly, and Adam rolls his eyes.
ERIN
Are we going to that party, or are we going to that party?
ADAM
(sighing)
Erin.
ERIN
We should crash it.
Adam pulls on his seatbelt and rolls his eyes.
ADAM
Erin, you're an idiot.
Erin scoffs, grabs Adams' shoulder, and pulls Adam out of the car.
ERIN
Let's go!
INT. JESSICA'S HOUSE — FLASHBACK — NIGHT
Erin and Adam make their way up the steps to the front door. He nods at a couple making out in the bushes. The two guys look up at Erin, disgusted. Erin shrugs and smirks as he opens the front door.
ERIN
Alrighty then.
Erin slaps Adam on the back and wanders away, leaving Adam at the door. Before turning around, he contemplates leaving his hand on the doorknob. Someone taps him on the shoulder, and he turns back around to face BLAKE ANDREWS, 17, holding a punch drink full of liquor laced with GHB.
BLAKE
Are you Hannah's younger brother?
Blake takes another sip of her drink. Adam clears his throat anxiously as he closes the door behind him.
ADAM
Yep.
Adam runs his hands through his hair. Blake giggles as she pushes her glasses into place.
BLAKE
What brought you here tonight? Aside from your sister, that is.
Adam rubs his hands against the back of his neck.
ADAM
(stuttering)
I'm, uh, was... Yeah, it was Erin.
Blake laughs, shoving her glasses back into place on her nose.
BLAKE
Erin is a moron. I'm surprised he could get in
Adam wipes his hand against the back of his neck nervously.
ADAM
Yeah, me too.
Blake takes another sip before tipping her glass towards Adam.
BLAKE
Do you want to try? It has a gummy bear flavor.
Blake waves her cup at Adam.
ADAM
No, thanks. I don't like candy that much, but—-
Blake hands Adam her glass.
BLAKE
Just down it. You won't even taste the Alcohol. I promise.
Adam gives her a hesitant look before glancing at the cup, bringing it to his lips, and taking a gulp with one swooping motion. He can back into the cup but swallows the majority.
ADAM
--I can't do this.
Blake sighs, pulling the cup out of Adams's hand gently.
BLAKE
Adam, it's... okay. Alcohol isn't for everyone.
Adam takes a deep breath and sighs.
INT. JESSICA'S HOUSE — FLASHBACK — NIGHT
Adam walks over to the punch table, looking for water. He walks over and finds...
MEDIUM CLOSE: A cooler full of bottles of clear liquor. Adam grabs one, untwists the lid, brings the bottle to his lips, and guzzles.
Jeremy spots Adam from afar and wanders toward him. Adam throws up part of the drink into a bowl of LSD and Liquor- laced jello.
JEREMY
(Laughing)
Did you guzzle that, Cohen?
Adam looks at the bottle and looks up at Jeremy, wiping his lips with his sleeves, and walks off.
JEREMY
Atta' boy. Now, join the rest of us like good nerds.
Jeremy grabs hold of Adam, holding Adam upright as he stumbles, pushing him towards the crowd by his shoulders.
CUT TO:
Adam sits hunched over on a chair in the room's corner, watching the others. His head is spinning. There's a loud yell before Erin runs in his boxers and long socks around the house soaking wet, slipping on the smooth surfaces while being chased by a few Rugby players in uniform. Adam watches for a moment while simultaneously rubbing at his temples.
TIME CUT:
INT. BATHROOM — FLASHBACK — NIGHT
TIME-LAPSE - ONE HOUR
About an hour passes within a blur. Adam's head pounds with his fast-paced heartbeat. He leans over a toilet seat, puking. ADAM'S GLASSES lay on the sink countertop next to him. There's a sudden knock on the door, and it swings open.
JEREMY
Hannah is waiting for you.
Adam sighs, leaning over the toilet again to heave. Jeremy laughs. Adam wipes his lips on his hoodie sleeve and looks up at Jeremy.
ADAM
Could you give me a moment?
Jeremy shakes his head.
JEREMY
She needs you now.
Adam rolls his eyes and pulls himself up off the bathroom floor as he follows Jeremy. Adam and Jeremy make it out of the bathroom as Jeremy pulls Adam into the bedroom.
JEREMY
You know, your sister...She's fucking hot.
Jeremy licks his lips, and Adam looks up at Jeremy.
ADAM
You're a dick.
Jeremy pushes Adam, and Adam swings his fist at Jeremy while staying steady on his feet. Jeremy catches Adam and grabs hold of his other arm. Squirming under his grip, Adam stares up at Jeremy.
FADE TO:
INT. BATHROOM — FLASHBACK — SAME TIME
Adam leans over a toilet seat, puking. ADAM'S GLASSES lay on the sink countertop next to him. There's a sudden knock on the door, and it creaks open. A mysterious hooded figure makes its way into the bathroom. Adam stares up at the mysterious hooded figure wiping his lips on his hoodie sleeve.
The figure ushers Adam towards her as they make their way out of the bathroom and quietly down the hallway towards the bedroom. The door creaks open, and both of them enter.
Adam still mesmerized, stares at the length of her body, and studies her as she studies him. They look close before the hooded figure grabs hold of Adam. Her lips meet his as she quickly pulls the hoodie off of him. He closes his eyes, and the kisses travel down the length of his neck and to his arm. She buries her face into his neck and bites down into Adams's neck.
INT. BEDROOM — FLASHBACK — SAME TIME
Jeremy laughs as he pulls Adam close to him, leaning in to whisper in Adam's ear.
INT. BEDROOM — FLASHBACK — SAME TIME
The hooded figure holds Adam against her. The bite sedates Adam. Her lips brush his ear as she leans in to whisper.
HOODED FIGURE
Goodbye, Adam.
The hooded figure lets go of Adam and watches him fall to the floor before disappearing into the night air.
INT. JESSICA'S BEDROOM - NIGHT
Adam's fangs retract, and his eyes fade back to blue. The crowd parts. The guy filming shuts off his phone and walks away silently, a hood concealing his features. Hannah pushes her way toward Adam.
HANNAH
What the hell, Adam. I thought I told you to stay in the car?
Adam blinks uncontrollably before sitting up and looking at Hannah, pushing himself off the ground.
ADAM
I'm fine if you wanted to know, but thanks for asking.
HANNAH
I'll meet you in the car.
Hannah and Adam roll their eyes in unison. Adam brushes himself off. Erin walks in. Hannah walks off, angry, aggressively pushing her shoulder against Erin, looking disgusted. Erin pays little attention to Hannah.
ERIN
Dude. What. The. Hell. Just happened?
Adam rubs his temples.
ADAM
I-I don't know?
ERIN
We thought you were dead.
Adam makes his way out of the room. Erin follows.
ADAM
No, I feel fine.
Adam examines his hands and rolls out his wrists.
ERIN
You weren't fine just a second ago, Adam. I'm just saying.
Adam stops at the top of the stairs, turning to look at Erin.
ADAM
Well, I am now.
Adam quickly stomps down the stairs. Erin follows slowly behind.
INT. CAR - NIGHT
Adam sits in the passenger seat with his phone on his lap. Hannah is driving and focuses on a darkened abandoned road, occasionally looking over at Adam.
HANNAH
You're not mentioning any of this to dad. Did you get that?
Adam sighs, slapping his phone against his palm and looking out the window.
ADAM
I wouldn't say anything, anyway.
HANNAH
Good. Are you okay?
Adam sighs and looks at his sister.
ADAM
I'm not sure yet; it's complicated.
HANNAH
Adam, what happened at the party? You're acting strange.
Hannah turns her attention to the road and slams on her breaks. A massive wolf jumps in front of Hannah's vehicle and stops. Adam stares out the window into the woods.
A hooded figure appears in insight. Adam stares at a hooded figure; the animal stops in the middle of the road and looks over at Adam. Hannah turns on her HIGH BEAMS, and the wolf howls before taking off into the woods.
HANNAH
Was that a wolf?
Adam looks over at his sister.
ADAM
Maybe?
HANNAH
You weren't even looking, Adam.
ADAM
Yeah, I was. I just thought I saw something else.
Hannah breathes deep.
HANNAH
What?
Adam looks back towards the woods. The hooded figure disappears.
ADAM
I don't know.
Hannah drives off.
EXT. ADAMS DRIVEWAY - NIGHT
Hannah pulls into the driveway and shuts off the engine. She looks over at Adam. He slumped back against the passenger seat.
HANNAH
Remember, you're not saying a word to dad, got it?
Adam slumps forward to unbuckle his seat belt.
ADAM
Yep, got it.
INT. ADAMS HOUSE - NIGHT
Hannah struggles with her keys. Adam yanks them from her hand and, without looking, shoves them in the lock. It slides in with ease.
HANNAH
Are you kidding me?
Adam pushes open the door.
ADAM
Dad? We're home.
MR. HARRISON COHEN walks into the room.
MR. COHEN
Where were you two?
ADAM
Hannah...
Hannah covers Adams's mouth with her hand. Adam licks Hannah's hand.
HANNAH
Gross.
Hannah wipes her hand on Adams's shirt. Mr. Cohen crosses his arms.
MR. COHEN
I bet your allowance you were out at that girl's party. What's her name?
Adam grins. Hannah hits Adam in the shoulder, quickly recoiling in pain.
HANNAH
Dude, what the hell.
Adams's grin grows.
ADAM
I'll be in my room if you need me.
Adam walks out of the room to his bedroom.
INT. ADAMS BEDROOM - NIGHT
Adam rolls around on his bedsheets in panic. His eyes shoot open, and he stares at the ceiling. A rustling transpires from the window. He looks over to find it cracked open. He pulls the covers off his torso and walks over, clamping the window shut. He returns to his cozy bed and slides under the covers, closing his eyes.
Slamming and banging outside his window wakes Adam again. His eyes snap open, fluorescent crimson. He searches the room.
ADAM
Is someone there?
Low hissing and a faint howl fill the silence in the room. Adam surveys the place again.
ADAM
I swear to fucking God, Erin, if that's you, I'll...
The hissing stops. Adam pulls the covers over his head and shuts his eyes.
THE VOICE (V.O.)
(Whispering Louder)
Adam... Adam... Adam... ADAM...
Adam's eyes snap open one last time. The hooded figure's silhouette and glowing Auburn eyes peer down at him from his bedside and study him closely. Adam stares at the contour in the dark, mortified for a moment before everything...
END OF ACT ONE
ACT TWO
INT. ADAM'S BATHROOM - DAY
Adam groggily stares at himself in the large bathroom mirror as he picks up his glasses from the counter beside him. He adjusts the lenses to his face with tired movements, placing them on the bridge of his nose. His vision becomes hazy. Instead, he takes off his glasses, rubs them against his shirt, and repositions them on his face, causing his eyesight to distort.
Adam removes his glasses and examines my surroundings, noticing small fractures in the wall and minor grooves on the floor. His bewilderment dissipated as he raises his shirt above his head and looks at his now-muscled chest and torso. He grins as his gaze wanders to his big arms, feeling like Peter Parker from that underrated spider-man movie.
ADAM
What the fuck happened last night?
Adam flexes and slips off his plaid pajama pants, quickly replacing them with dark jeans.
He grabs his toothbrush, squirting a straight line of toothpaste and the brush. He leaned in towards the mirror, giving his best smile. His jaw drops, staring in disbelief as his toothbrush drops into the sink. He licks his teeth, feeling the sharp fangs replacing his familiar, braced, crammed teeth, and his eyes glow crimson under the bathroom lights.
He hears a faint thumping heartbeat and smells the sweet odor of blood outside the doorway. He perks up. Hannah knocks hard, slamming her foot into the wood.
HANNAH
Come on, Adam. You're not the only one who goes to school. I HAVE A REPUTATION TO WITHHOLD, unlike some people. Hurry!
Adam watches his fangs retract, and his eyes fade back to blue.
ADAM
(Panicked)
Ugh, quit being a little bitch and wait your turn, Hannah.
Adam scrambles, staring at his teeth in the mirror again, but they look 100% normal this time. He grabs his shirt off to his side and slips it on.
HANNAH
If anyone in this family is a little bitch, you. Now quick flirting with yourself, and hurry!
The door swings open, and Adam is all smiles.
ADAM
Here you go, princess. It's all yours.
Hannah glares at her brother, pushing past him to enter the bathroom and the door, noticing his firm muscles.
HANNAH
Who the hell are you trying to impress? No one likes you.
Adam grins. Hannah slams the door behind her.
HANNAH
Adam, you got toothpaste all over the sink. If I have to call dad, I will kill you.
Adam's grin widens, and he walks off.
INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - DAY
Adam, porcelain, pale skin, looks over to his left and spots Jeremy arguing with ERICA RAMOS, 17, while Adam is shuffling through his locker for his books. Adam stops and stares at Erica and Jeremy. He listens to their argument, which only gets louder and louder to Adams' ears, watching Erica rub her hand down Jeremy's shirt. Jeremy swats Erica's hand away aggressively.
JEREMY
Go away, Erica.
Erica giggles, leaning in and squeezing Jeremy's biceps. Jeremy squirms but doesn't shove her away.
ERICA
Hannah told me to give you something.
Erica leans in and anchors him towards her lips, kissing him. It's a sloppy kiss, and Jeremy gives little effort to pull out of it at first when he shuts his eyes. Jeremy opens them for a moment, showing off pale grey iris glowing brightly. He slams his eyes closed again. Their translucent essences pull between two bodies as they entangle deeper into the kiss.
Erica pays little attention, but Adam is in a trance. Jeremy opens his eyes, an ordinary hazel shade again. He pushes Erica away. Erica chokes, nearly about to puke, and runs off to the bathroom.
The warning bell screams in the school hallway. Jeremy walks off, and Adam stuffs the rest of his schoolbooks and notebook into his bag, slamming his locker hard. The locker bends and melts into Adams's hand, leaving his handprint in the door.
CUT TO:
INT. HOMEROOM - CLASSROOM - DAY
Adam takes the seat next to Erin in homeroom. While sitting at his desk in the back corner of the room, Jeremy watches Adam and Erin enter the classroom. He grins wide-eyed at Adam.
JEREMY
Look, everyone, it's blue boy.
Laughter and chatter fill the room. Adam averts his eyes, keeping his head low as he tucks into the desk. Erin takes the seat next to him.
Jeremy and the rugby team wander over to Adam. Jeremy slams his hands on Adams' desk and chuckles to himself.
JEREMY
Do you remember our conversation last night, blue boy? Probably not. You were high as a kite.
Jeremy chuckles again, slapping hands with one of his friends. Erin lets out a low animalistic growl, clenching his notebooks in his fists.
JEREMY
I bet Blake's lips tasted like her grandpa's strawberries.
Jeremy looks at Blake.
JEREMY
Isn't that right, Blake? — Rotten and tasteless.
Jeremy grins. Blake blushes, sitting a row away from Adam, moving over one more seat. Adam blushes too. Jeremy lifts a finger in the air.
JEREMY
... But, I bet blue boy here doesn't even remember the taste of nerd girls' lips.
Jeremy pats Adam's shoulder.
JEREMY
High as a kite, blue boy.
Jeremy shoots Adam with finger guns, walks off with the rugby players, and laughs, just as MR. BARRING, Tall, thin, in his early '50s, walks in the door as the last bell rings.
MR. BARRING
Alrighty. Let me get a headcount before you run off to your first- period class.
Mr. Barring sets down a briefcase and holds up a classroom chart.
MR. BARRING
Adam Cohen.
Adam is shy, but he quietly lifts his hand in the air, his muscles flexing. Jeremy and the rugby team cackle in the background.
MR. BARRING
Okay, Mr. Cohen, you can put your hand down now.
Adam drops his hand. Mr. Barring moves on, his voice fading. The surrounding sounds echo out loud in his ears. It's hard for him to focus. It's as if he can hear a dozen heartbeats. Suddenly...
TIME CUT:
EXT. TRACK FIELD - DAY
A whistle blows loud next to Adam. Tired and weak from running on the track field, Adam slumps to the ground quickly.
The rugby team's head coach blows her whistle one last time, and Adam and his classmates look up at their PE professor,
MS. DRAKE.
MS. DRAKE
The boy's Rugby try-outs are this evening. We encourage you to join after-school extracurricular activities if you put in the effort. You are all dismissed.
In the distance, Jeremy and the rugby team eye Adam and Erin. The students walk-off, piling into the school locker rooms, boys on one side and girls.
ERIN
Are you thinking about trying it out?
ADAM
Maybe this year I'll have better luck?
Jeremy pushes past Erin and Adam and grins.
JEREMY
You're just going to be on towel duty like dog boy here.
Jeremy ruffles Erin's hair.
JEREMY
Isn't that right, Erin?
Erin growls low, spitting on the floor at Jeremy as he walks off.
ERIN
(Irritated)
Jeremy always has to suck the fucking life out of everything. I'm trying out again this year.
Both boys enter the locker rooms.
TIME CUT:
Adam slips his shirt off in the locker rooms. Erin grins, staring at Adam's chest and abs.
ERIN
Since when did you get abs of fucking steel, bro?
Erin slaps Adam's stomach. Adam winces, staring down at his chiseled abs, then Erin's.
ADAM
I don't want to talk about it.
ERIN
Why not? You're finally strong enough to screw Jeremy over in rugby tryouts this afternoon, probably.
Adam snorts.
ADAM
Yeah, but girls hate nerds who hang out with trouble-making freaks.
ERIN
Watch it, bud.
Adam rolls his eyes and pulls his shirt over his head. Erin chuckles, pulling his shirt above his head too.
ERIN
You're fucking incredible. You know, your sister and dad both do that identical eye roll thing when they're irritated. It must be genetics.
Adam shoves Erin into the lockers and walks off. Erin trails behind.
ERIN
Hey! What did I do?
Adam and Erin walk out of the locker room. A boy taking video, shuts off his cellphone and walks off.
TRANSITION TO:
INT. RUGBY FIELD - NOON
Erin and Adam walk out of the locker rooms, dressed in basketball shorts, sneakers, and plain shirts.
MS. DRAKE
I will separate all of you into two teams. Team skins stand to the left. Team shirts stay where you are.
More than half the tryouts team moans. Adam and Erin stand in the crowd, anticipating participation. Blake, standing off to the side, grins. All the boys' heads turn to Blake. The sun slowly sets in the distance.
JEREMY
What are you doing here, Andrews? It's boys only.
BLAKE
That's sexist, don't you think?
Jeremy huffs. Ms. Drake blows her whistle twice.
MS. DRAKE
Let it go, Jeremy. She can try it out if she wants to.
JEREMY
That's if she can keep up with us.
THE RUGBY TEAM
Oooh.
Jeremy's side glances at Blake. Blake rolls her eyes.
BLAKE
That's big talk for a guy whose cousin outran him in a 5-kilometer race.
She gestures to the cheer squad in the background. Jessica is on the phone, one pom pom in her hand as she paces. The rugby boys laugh. Jeremy huffs again.
MS. DRAKE
Both of you, enough! Ms. Andrews will play shirts.
The boys hoot and holler, including Erin standing beside Adam, silent. Ms. Drake quiets the boys. Blake crosses her arms.
MS. DRAKE
Team skins are to the left. Divide and conquer where you stand right now. Split up.
The boys moan and groan, dividing into two sections. Adam, Erin, Jeremy, and a few other boys make the skins team. Jeremy is pissed.
Jeremy slips his shirt over his head, walking into Adam as he pushes by him and takes off onto the field, stretching his calves with the ball in his arms. Adam and Erin slip their shirts off, too.
BLAKE
(Muttering under her
breath)
Scandali et lapsum, pila concrescunt.
The grass below Jeremy bends, invisible to normal eyes, and Jeremy trips to the floor, losing the ball from his fingers.
The guys laugh, splitting on either side of the field. Adam looks nervous, biting his hangnails for comfort.
ERIN
This'll be good.
Erin claps his hands together, pats Adams's chest, and walks towards the field. Adam follows. Jeremy pulls off the ground, dusting grass and dirt from his chest, and looks around.
TIME CUT:
Adam runs face-paced down the field with a ball. He's much faster than average, and barely anyone can keep up. Standing off in the corner, Jeremy tries to get him to pass the ball, trailing beside him.
JEREMY
Pass the fucking ball, dumb-ass.
Adam comes to a still. Three guys, team shirts, maul him to the grass. Adam seems irritated, dusting grass and dirt from his body.
ADAM
That fucking hurt.
Adam picks himself off the floor and dusts himself off. Off to the side, Jeremy seems pleased. Adam looks over at his best friend and bawls his fists tight. His eyes glow red for a moment, his fangs extending. All Adam can hear is thumping heartbeats and smells of sweet blood pumping from people around him. Buh-boom. Buh-boom. Buh-boom. He covers his mouth with his hand and walks off towards the woods — Erin trails behind him.
Deep in the woods, Adam conceals fangs from under his soft hoodie, surveying his surroundings with dizzying ruby-red eyes, and his hunger grows. His eyes land on a coyote in the distance, stalking a young fawn.
He looks between the two animals, his tongue is dragging across his lips to his fangs, and he plunges forward at incredible speeds; his fangs latch onto the coyote. The coyote yelps, and the deer races off, deeper into the woods, while the coyote's corpse melts into Adams's fangs, blood seeping from the wound. The thumping weakens as his eyes land on his best friend, standing nearby.
ERIN
Focus, Adam. Listen to my voice.
Spinning in the forest, he releases the coyote from his fangs. Erin comes into focus, and the unsteady woods come to a halt. Erin's lips widen into a grin.
ERIN
Thirsty?
Erin slaps Adam on the shoulder. Adam focuses on a crack on the ground, trying to distract himself from his new reality.
The word vampire seems foreign to Adam, but the word slowly registers with him once his fangs retract. Blood drips from his mouth and onto his bare chest.
ERIN
You smell like a fucking vampire, bro.
ADAM
How the hell do you know that shit?
Adam looks at the coyote, dead on the floor. Its eyes appear glassy and lifeless; then, he looks at his best friend.
ERIN
I'm a dire werewolf. Prince of the dire wolves, which makes my father a...
ADAM
You're joking, right?
ERIN
I wish I were, bro. I'll tell you more while I get you home.
Adam sighs.
ADAM
How do you know all of this?
Erin grins wider.
ERIN
Werewolves are the protectors of vampire fledglings. I'm guessing you're safe, considering you probably haven't gone through the traditional ritual with your master and the vampire deity. The vampire gods don't fuck around with vampire fledglings. They will try anything to get you through the transformation.
Adam sits down on a log. Both boys stare at each other.
ERIN
We'll wait until school ends. Then we'll grab your stuff and get you cleaned up.
ADAM
Since when did you become the practical one?
Adam cleans his bloodied lips with his tongue. Erin taps his fists against his friend's chest.
ERIN
If my dad finds out that you're a vampire, he will kill both of us. Let's head back before dark.
In the nearby brush, the wind howls, and the bushes sway. We pull closer, and two beady red eyes peer from under a good and slither away. Erin and Adam walk back towards the school as the sun sets in the distance and nightfall slowly emerges.
EXT. WOODS - DREAMING - DAY
Erin, in wolf form, broad and gigantic with glowing yellow eyes and big, white snarling teeth, snaps at something in the distance. He seems cornered by some things or individuals, and there's no escape. A saddened howl in the distance shows defeat. Erin's surroundings cave him in; five thirsty vampires, hungry for wolves' blood; one of them being Adam, pasty, with snarling fangs protruding from his upper gums. His eyes are the color of the blood coating his lips. They slowly move closer, circling Erin as their prey.
In the background, Jessica screams his name, her voice echoing through the dense forest. The vampires have her too. Her clothes are messy; her hair is matted, and they tangle her arms with two vampires. She screams again...
JESSICA
Erin... Erin... ERIN! Erin looks for an escape and a way to save his cousin.
SUDDENLY... Erin looks to a gap between the vampire pack and takes off running, picking up the pace at inhuman speeds. He's not fast enough for Adam, who appears by his side, with fangs bulging from his gums and crimson eyes. Erin morphs back to human and stares into his best friend's eyes, begging for mercy. Erin pants hard, looking for a way out as Adam approaches. There's a sudden snap in the distance, followed by an agonizing Yelp. Is the king Dead—possibly? Erin falls to his knees in defeat, and Adam swoops forward. From behind, a distinctive voice belonging to Blake pleads to Adam.
BLAKE
Adam... ADAM!
Long beat. Adam's head tilts as though he can understand her, but he pushes forward towards Erin. Blake hesitates, then...
BLAKE
Vampire Bloodthirst melius est mori, ne amandanda sint inferno: sunt enim flammis aeternitatis.
A powerful ripple pushes from Blake as her fingers thrust forward. The screen fades to fluttered focus; heartbeats thunder, then...
CUT TO:
INT. ADAM'S BEDROOM - MORNING
Two sets of glowing yellow eyes stared back at Adam, and I flipped back against the mattress, glancing at my beeping alarm clock to my side. Jessica stands on the other side, trying to wake the sleeping monster in front of her with her annoying cousin and my best friend, Erin.
ERIN
Good morning. Have a nice sleep, princess?
Adam yawns and stretches; his fangs are protruding from his gums. He looks to his left as a converse shoe hits him square in the face from Jessica. Erin stands to his side, glaring at his best friend with his arms crossed. Adam moans and rolls his eyes. Rubbing his eyes, he pushes off the bed.
ADAM
Funny. I thought you were a prince. Did my dad let you in?
Erin: Yeah. How else would I get in here?
Adam's eyes fall to the window, and he shrugs.
ERIN
You use a window one time, and it becomes the butt of your best friend's joke. Every damn time.
Adam is dressed and ready to leave. He lays back on his bed, grabbing his stress ball off his bedside cabinet and tossing it up and down against the ceiling. Erin sits at the desk, focusing on the ball. Jessica stands off to the side.
ADAM
So, I'm a vampire.
Erin nods.
ADAM
... And you're a werewolf?
ERIN
Yeah.
ADAM
How does all of this shit work?
Adam tosses the ball at Erin, and Erin catches the ball in his fist with swift reflexes.
ERIN
They bit you. Vampire bites are an infection, and to complete the transition, the vampire Gods need to, well ...
Erin holds the ball up to eye level and squeezes tight until it deflates.
ERIN
Essentially, murder you.
Adam chuckles.
ADAM
You're joking.
ERIN
Actually, no.
Jessica rolls her eyes and huffs, her arms crossing her chest.
JESSICA
Have you noticed anyone or anything strange stalking you since that vampire bit you?
Adam rolls his eyes.
ADAM
You.
Erin huffs this time.
ERIN
We're serious, Adam. Vampires have supernatural Chimeras that follow Vampire fledglings, and when they feel ready to seize you, they won't hesitate.
Adam sighs. Erin throws the ball back at Adam, and he hastily snatches it from the air. Erin's eyes widened in amusement.
ERIN
That's what you should have been doing in Rugby try-outs. You could have easily kicked Jeremy's ass. Maybe my dad wouldn't have had to bribe Ms. Drake...
ADAM
We made the team?
JESSICA
(Mumbles)
He thinks he's some God...
Erin Shoots his pointer finger at Jessica.
ERIN
She's not wrong.
ADAM
What?
Erin sighs.
ERIN
Incubi. They think they're so entitled.
ADAM
Who? Jeremy?
ERIN
Yeah. Probably the only reason your sister wants to fuck the son of a bit—
ADAM
Shut up. She's here, you know.
ERIN
Sorry, dude, but it's true.
There's a knock on Adam's bedroom door, and the door screams open. Hannah stands in the doorway, her arms crossed over her chest, looking annoyed.
HANNAH
Your Dad is here, Erin.
Hannah huffs and slams the door. Erin grins wide, staring at his best friend. Jessica plays along in the background.
ADAM
(To Erin)
I will bite you.
ERIN
You have a lot to learn, my young fledgling.
ADAM
What the fuck?
Jessica rolls her eyes. Erin scoffs at her.
JESSICA
We're immune, fang-boy.
Adam's eyebrow raises.
ADAM
Fang-boy?
There's a brief silence, and Adam again chucks the stress ball at Erin. Both boys emerge from the door laughing. Jessica follows behind quietly.
INT. SCHOOL - HALLWAY
Erin, Jessica, and Adam sit at a table in the cafeteria. Food sits in front of the three of them, but Adam pushes his tray forward, fazed by the toxic smell of cafeteria pizza and Mac and cheese.
JESSICA
I almost forgot he had fangs.
Erin sighs.
ERIN
Unfortunately, they don't serve blood in high school. But that wouldn't be a bad idea.
Suddenly, Jeremy hollers from the opposite end of the cafeteria.
JEREMY
What the fuck, Jessica. I thought you hated to tweedle dee and tweedle dumb.
Jeremy wanders over. He slams his hand on the table next to Erin provocatively.
JESSICA
Don't you dare treat Erin like that?
JEREMY
Oh, so now you're sticking up for the little twerp.
Jessica rolls her eyes.
JESSICA
No. He's my cousin, you dick...
All eyes are on Adam's table. Adam looks around the room, and his eyes land on Blake, casually watching as she shovels mac and cheese in her mouth. Her eyes meet his for a second, and then she winks at Adam.
BLAKE
(Mouthing)
You okay?
Adam shrugs and gestures to Jeremy and catches his attention.
JEREMY
Are you seriously flirting with strawberry lips right now, blue- boy?
Jeremy chuckles in disbelief as his eyes shift to Blake.
JEREMY
You, Blake, are something else.
ERIN
Shut up, Jeremy.
Jeremy chuckles again.
JEREMY
What are you going to do about it, dog boy?
Adam's pulse thumps; he feels dizzy as hunger grows. Suddenly, Ms. Drake stands behind Jeremy.
MS. DRAKE
Knock it off, Jeremy, or you're off the team.
Jeremy turns to face her, a scowl on his face.
JEREMY
Of course, you're going to defend him. That's nice. Just because his daddy is a...
MS. DRAKE
(Scolding)
Jeremy!
JEREMY
Fine. I'll back off. You're welcome.
Jeremy backs off with his hands rocketing to the sky. Then, he returns to his table.
JESSICA
What a dick.
ERIN
Wuff.
Erin shakes his head. Then they eat again.
EXT. NEIGHBORHOOD - DAY
Adam and Erin walk home.
ADAM
How do you like, morph and shit? Is it automatic? Do you feel pain? How does it work?
ERIN
Werewolves are taught and trained how to morph from a young age. We're trained to protect Vampire fledglings from vampire demon souls who lurk the earth transforming new fledglings and turning them evil at about six or seven years old.
ADAM
And you think I'm going to be one of those things?
ERIN
You are one of those things... sort of. You just haven't fully transitioned... There are a few full-blooded vampires who are good guys, but it's scarce for vampires to have their hearts and souls still intact once they complete the vampire ritual, but it's possible. It's also common for a vampire pack leaders to influence other fledglings. There are a few that work with my dad.
Three older thugs bike up behind the two boys, their tires screaming to a halt.
THUG ONE
Where are you going, bitches?
ERIN
I wouldn't say that if I were you.
The lead thug, thug one, pushes Erin and Adam to the ground.
ERIN
Don't test me.
THUG THREE
Shut up!
Thug two pins Erin to the floor with his foot. Thug three pins down, Adam.
Erin's eyes glow golden honey, and he's on his feet within seconds. His bones crack and groan almost at superhuman speed.
THUG TWO
Oh shit!
Erin growls and barks as Adam stares in shock. The group of men darts off without their bikes. One of them falls to the ground but quickly pulls himself back off the ground and continues to race away. Erin morphs back into a human, naked and exposed, laughing to himself. He pats Adam on the shoulder. Adams's eyes bulge.
ERIN
Ta-da! So, what do you think?
ADAM
I think I'm going to have nightmares for a week.
Erin's grin expands, and Adam's eyes shift to Erin's lower region.
ADAM
Actually, a month.
ERIN
You're lucky I'm your best friend. I could've ripped their hearts out and eaten it, but you would've killed me...
ADAM
(Interrupts Erin)
Put on some clothes.
Adam covers his eyes.
ERIN
Relax, fang boy.
ADAM
Pfft. You're one to talk.
Erin grabs his boxers, putting them on one leg at a time.
ERIN
If only you weren't a vampire...
ADAM
If only you told me you were a fucking werewolf...
Erin throws his hands up.
ERIN
Geez, touché. You win. Are you hungry? I know the best spot in the woods where all fawns hang out.
ADAM
Starving.
Erin sighs.
ERIN
Into the woods, we go.
ADAM
Sure, Toto. After learning I have a target on my back, I'm going in there.
ERIN
You could have said no. You didn't have to be a dick. And why am I, Toto? Just because I'm a dog. Wow!
Adam scoffs.
ADAM
Do you really want to be the chick in three-inch heels and a checkered dress?
Silence. Then...
ERIN
I wouldn't mind.
ADAM
Then have it your way, Dorthy. I'm going home.
Erin scoffs.
ERIN
Are you kidding? You're not going home while you're hungry.
Adam scoffs.
ADAM
Why?
ERIN
Your dad and sister are the equivalents to an entrée for a fledgling like you?
Adam gulps.
ADAM
Geez, Brutal.
ERIN
Yeah, and you'll only get hungrier from there. So, are you or I texting your dad?
Adam sighs, swinging his bag close, unzips the front pocket, and digs out his phone. Then, Adam's fingers click against the keys, and he stuffs his hands in his pockets.
ERIN
To the woods.
Adam sighs and gives in as Erin leads the way.
INT. WOODS - NOON
Adam and Erin are deep in the woods, hunting deer for food. Adam's stomach rumbles, and chest pain throbs like a massager stuck in pulse mode. To say this moment scared him shitless is an understatement.
ERIN
You'll be fine. Focus on the sights and sounds around you.
Erin shoves Adam forward, nearly knocking him into a nearby tree.
ADAM
Sure, I'll just use the vampire powers I don't know how to use—-
Erin pats Adam's back.
ERIN
--Well, good. Do that.
Adam shuts his eyes and zones into the breeze, drifting leaves in the air. Then, the bushes to his right rustle, and Erin stiffens, his fists in the air, ready to fight.
ERIN
Who's there?
Erin pulls Adam behind him. Suddenly, Jeremy emerges from the bushes, his hands raised to the sky, his eyes glowing silver in the afternoon sun.
JEREMY
Oh, great. Blue boy's here too.
He rolls his eyes at Adam in disgust.
ERIN
What are you doing here, Jeremy?
Erin spits, loosening up his tense shoulders.
JEREMY
I was taking a stroll in the woods when I came across you two simps.
ERIN
Really?
JEREMY
No. Your dad sent me to find you after you didn't come straight home after school. My sixth sense led me to the woods and essentially here. You're welcome, by the way.
Something rustles in the bushes nearby again, and all three freeze.
JEREMY
What the bloody fuck was that?
Jeremy's breaks his irritable gaze meets Erin. Suddenly, Jessica jumps out from the bushes, chuckling at the three guys, scared shitless for a moment.
JESSICA
You know, if you're going to take fang-boy out into the woods at six hours until midnight with a target on his back, you should have just asked Jeremy or me to come with you, so you don't get mauled to death by a deity.
Jeremy scoffs, a slight smirk on his lips.
JEREMY
She's not wrong. Or at least warn your dad before blue boy sucks you dry.
Jessica walks over to Jeremy, shoving him as he trips over a log.
ERIN
Watch out, or she'll bite you.
Erin looks at him with a massive grin on his lips.
JESSICA
You dick, Erin.
Adam clears his throat until all eyes are on him..
ADAM
I still don't understand why Jeremy is here.
JEREMY
Oh, that's right. Blue-boy has no fucking clue.
Jeremy looks at Erin, then Jessica.
JEREMY
I'm Erin and Jessica's, protector.
Erin's eyebrow shoot up as he stares at Jeremy for a moment.
ADAM
An incubus?
JEREMY
I guess he knows.
The bushes rustled again, and all four of us gathered close together.
ERIN
Dare me to morph?
JEREMY
Your dad would kill me if anything happened to you, dog-boy.
Jeremy backs into Jessica. Jessica released a loud, animalistic growl as she shoves Jeremy forward.
JESSICA
You take care of it, dick face.
She shoves Jeremy again. Adam's stomach rumbles as sharp, painful, searing hunger pains stabs at his throbbing lungs and heart. His fangs grow, and his senses kicked into hyper- drive. All four of them are back to back.
JEREMY
You're hungry now, blue boy?
Adam can smell whatever was lingering behind that bush but can't get a good view of what's out there.
ADAM
(Irritable)
I can't help it! They all hesitate the beast, or whatever was behind the bush, as silence hush drags through thick, breezy air.
Suddenly, a raccoon emerges from the bush, hobbling from the brush with a paper pamphlet for a nearby motel in tiny paws. Erin, Jessica, and Jeremy takes a hesitant sigh of relief.
JEREMY
There's your dinner, blue boy.
Jeremy gestures to the raccoon gaping at the three of them.
Hunger pains rumble his gut and chest like thunder in the clouds. Adam watches the raccoon shuffle in front of Erin. His eyes fixed on Jessica.
ADAM
Don't tell me I have to eat him.
Erin rolls his eyes, shoving Adam forward.
ERIN
It's the raccoon or your family.
He gives Adam one last shove towards the raccoon.
ERIN
(CONT'D)
Bon appétit.
Adam gulps down whatever dignity he had left as instinct takes over, and he charges the raccoon, his fangs pulling from my gums.
Then, his teeth clamp down on the raccoon as it fights for its life, clawing his porcelain skin, and struggles under the strength of Adam's jaw. The creature relaxes in Adam's arms as he sucks it dry, blood seeping from his lips, coating its fur as the raccoon takes its last breath, succumbing to its deathly end.
JEREMY
Atta' boy, Adam.
Adam licks his lips clean of blood and drops the lifeless animal to the cold dirt beneath his feet.
JESSICA
We should bury him.
ADAM
In the ground?
JESSICA
Yes, dumbass. There's only one way you can bury a corpse.
JEREMY
Then do your morphing shit while I turn around—
Jessica rolled her eyes, watching Jeremy spin around with his fingers covering his eyelids.
JESSICA
Oh, PLEASE! You get turned on by this shit, don't you, Incu-boy, That's why you're part werewolf.
JEREMY
Is that the best you've got, bitch?
Jeremy's eyes are still covered as he spins around.
ERIN
Both of you, shut the fuck up!
Erin collapses to his knees as his bones twist and contort. In mere seconds, he morphs again into a giant wolf-like dog, and shakes his ripped clothing to the ground. Then Erin digs with his front paws, all the time, staring at Adam who leans against a nearby tree and watches him. He pushes the raccoon into the ten-inch hole with his snout and covers the hole with dirt.
ADAM
I'm going home.
Erin morphs back into human form.
ERIN
Not without me.
JEREMY
Yeah, you're a piece of fucking work, blue boy.
Jessica shoves Jeremy, and this time, he stumbles over a rock, poking up between the woodsy floor and some fall leaves, and tumbles before he catches himself. Jessica grabs Jeremy's bag off the floor and chucks it at Erin blindly. Erin catches it, opens the backpack, and puts on a change of boxers and shorts.
ADAM
I'm the piece of work?
(Beat)
My best friend and his cousin are wolves, and you're a perverted demon, or whatever it's called.
JEREMY
Incubus, fang-boy.
Adam rolls his eyes and scoffs.
ADAM
Whatever, I'm going home.
JESSICA
Do you even know where home is?
ADAM
No, but I'll find my way.
Suddenly Erin is beside Adam, his arm wrapped around his shoulder as he walked him to the middle of everyone and spins Adam towards two trees opposite where I was walking.
ERIN
It's that way, Adam.
ADAM
Thanks.
ERIN
But we're coming with you. Nightfall will be in a few, and too many dangerous things go bump in the night.
Jeremy, Jessica and Erin is silence beside the birds and wind in the distance.
ADAM
Fine, FINE! You lead the way.
ERIN
Gladly.
INT. ADAM'S BEDROOM - NIGHT
Adam's fingers slide against the keypad to find something more credible than "Vampires are a myth." "They don't exist" or "Seek help. You're delusional," as similar results pop up on the screen.
Adam flips his laptop closed. He presses his fingers to his sharp fangs, feeling around the gums for an opened wound. Nothing.
KNOCK! KNOCK! Adam's eyes open and shift to the window. Erin climbs through.
ERIN
Were you checking your fangs?
Adam ignores Erin. Erin walks across Adam's bedroom and plops down on Adam's bed with a full backpack.
ERIN
You look hungry. You need some blood.
ADAM
I-I don't need blood, Erin.
Hunger pains strike Adam's chest and abdomen again.
ADAM
Besides, does it look like I keep blood bags on me?
Erin laughs. Adam doubles over on the bed, his face pressing into the mattress, miserably.
ADAM
Is this how girls feel when they're on their period?
ERIN
You'll get used to it. My dad has his way of feeding the pack. It's not always the freshest, but—-
ADAM
(Muttering through the
bedsheets.)
--Erin!
Then, Adam lifts his head to look at Erin.
ADAM
That's not helping, okay?
ERIN
Got it.
He clicks his jaw, pointing finger guns at Adam. Erin reaches into his backpack and pulls out a mason jar full of fresh blood. Adam's stomach gurgles as his hunger pains are reinforced, and he lunges forward. Erin pushes Adam away, and reaches back inside and yanks out a pair of pliers.
ERIN
Before I give you anything, we must remove your braces.
Erin dips forward, trying to pull Adam's brackets from his teeth, and Adam jerks back.
ERIN
Trust me. You'll feel so much better without it. Erin's eyes meet Adam's, pleading for him.
Adam opens wide, rips the top brackets from Adam's teeth, and works on the bottom.
ERIN
Better?
He holds up the two wires attached to Adam's straight teeth a second ago. Adam feels his fangs push further from his gums.
ADAM
It's an improvement.
Adam shrugs. Erin hands the mason jar full of blood to Adam, watching him waste no time twisting off the lid and taking a big gulp of blood, satisfying the hunger inside him. Then, Adam licks his new smile clean, swallowing the excess blood on his teeth.
ADAM
So, what do I do about my dad? He'll kill me when he finds out I took off my braces as a DIY with my best friend.
Adam's eyes shift to the door.
ADAM
Or that I'm a vampire.
Erin chuckles.
ERIN
Eh, you'll be fine. Quit being dramatic.
Adam growls.
ADAM
I'm dramatic, Erin? Are you fucking kidding me? I have fangs, I'm drinking animal blood from a mason jar my best friend snuck into my room, and oh, did I mention I'm not even alive, and you're a fucking werewolf prince.
ERIN
It's called undead, Adam. And you need to accept it because you'll be undead for the rest of your miserable life.
ADAM
What. Are you my dad now?
Suddenly there's a knock at the door.
HANNAH
Adam, Dad wants to talk to you downstairs.
There's a faint giggle as Adam's sister wanders from the door. Adam pushes his lips together in pure panic.
ADAM
Son of a bitch.
ERIN
I'll talk to him.
Erin slips off the side of my mattress. Adam races passed him before he can slide out the doorway, and their eyes meet Jeremys' in the doorway.
JEREMY
Hey, dog boy.
Jeremy ruffles Erin's hair and wanders further down the hallway to Hannah's room.
ADAM
That's annoying.
ERIN
Oh yeah.
Erin and Adam race downstairs to the living room, where Mr. Cohen watches Adam with a concerning glance.
ADAM
Hey, Dad.
HARRISON
Hey, kiddo.
Harrison's eyes widen in shock.
HARRISON
Damn it, Adam Davis Cohen. Where are your braces?
Adam avoids his father's glare.
HARRISON
Do you know how much money came out of my pocket for those?
ADAM
What?
Harrison looks to the floor, his face hidden.
ERIN
Where is my dad?
DANIEL SANCHEZ, the werewolf king, and Erin's father wander from the other room into the foyer, watching the boy as he guzzles a mega pint-size glass of wine.
DANIEL
Harrison and I talked, and he said you boys want to go to Oregon tomorrow.
HARRISON
I think it would be some fun.
(beat)
But don't think for one second when you come home you're not explaining to Jared what you did to your braces.
Adam rolls his eyes.
ERIN
Uh, yeah, sure.
Erin drapes his arm around Adam's shoulder and pulls him in.
ADAM
Alright, alright. I get some free time from Hannah and her boy toy boyfriend.
HANNAH (V.O.)
Shut up, Adam.
Erin scoffs.
ERIN
Don't be such a Debby downer, Adam. We're going to have fun. Besides, you're a sucker for my dad's bbq tri-tip.
Erin stares at Adam with his annoying, smug grin. Adam licks his fangs protruding from my gums as a friendly reminder to my best friend he bites now.
HARRISON
In the meantime, you get to bed, Adam.
Adam rolls his eyes again.
ERIN
Bye.
Adam slowly turns towards the staircase and wanders out of the room. He races up the steps, watching Daniel and Erin leave, and races back up the stairs in my white socks, almost slipping on the satin finish, catching himself as Hannah's glare meets his.
HANNAH
I heard Erin, and you made the team.
Adam stands at the top step, watching Jeremy watch him.
ADAM
So.
HANNAH
I heard Blake made the team too. Don't you have a crush on her or something? That's what Jeremy told me.
Hannah watches her brother as he slips past her and down the short hallway.
ADAM
So, what?
HANNAH
Nobody likes you, Adam. Adam rolls his eyes, flipping the bird at her as he slams my door shut.
INT. ADAMS HOUSE - NEXT DAY - MORNING
Adam pulls out the jar of blood from the dresser drawer. He slips off the top, his fangs tug from his gums, and he sucks it down. There's a knock on Adam's door. Adam quickly screws the top back on the mason jar and drops it in the dresser, watching it shatter and splatter blood all over the wood.
ADAM
Son of a bitch.
Adam's father KNOCKS again.
HARRISON
Adam, are you okay?
Adam panics, looking for something to clean the blood from his bloodstained pajamas and boxers.
ADAM
(whispered)
Shit. Shit. Shit.
He quickly slams the dresser with his newfound strength and snaps the wood—a splinter slicing through Adam's thick, indestructible skin barrier. Adam groans in pain, trying to break the skin with his ragged fingernails, but gives in, clamping his fangs onto his open palm, the door screeches open.
ADAM
Are you ready for Oregon?
Adam quickly spins his back to his father, removing his fang from the deep wound in his hand and watching the skin stitch together.
HARRISON
Is something wrong?
His fathers' eyes land on the broken drawer. Rugged splinters spring from the damaged wood, watching half of the drawer collapse to the floor, and inside is a bloodied mess.
HARRISON
Blood. Blood, Adam? What the fuck! Are you crazy?!
Adam panics again.
ADAM
Its... It's, uh, fake. It's for a project Erin and I are assembling for science class. Vampires. We, uh, we're studying vampires and other mystical creatures.
Adam forces a fake grin, forgetting his fangs are full- cocked, and it turns into a scowl.
ADAM
These are fake. Plastic.
His fangs disappear, and he smashes his face into an invisible wall.
ADAM
(Looking guilty and
panicked)
They retract too?
HARRISON
Uh-huh. Clean this up. You have half an hour to finish getting ready and get these in the wash, or Daniel and Erin are leaving without you.
Harrison watches Adam, his eyes meeting his, reassuring Adam understood him correctly, and he walks out the doorway, shutting the door.
TIME-LAPSE - TEN MINUTES LATER
Adam walks out of his bedroom. Erin stands at the top step. Adam groans and races to the staircase.
ERIN
Are you coming or not, Adam?
DANIEL SANCHEZ, talks with Adam's father over morning orange juice and waffles. Adam slams fists with Erin and wanders into the living room. All eyes shift to Adam, and they casually sit on the couch.
ERIN
Hey, Dad.
Erin sits on the arm of the couch, staring at Hannah.
DANIEL
Hey, bud. Are you ready to go?
As a dizzy hunger fills Adam's gut, Mr. Sanchez shifts his eyes in his direction.
DANIEL
You okay, Adam?
Adam looks at him, puzzled and starved, almost like he's about to hurl. Unsure how to respond, Erin saves Adam from disaster in front of their fathers.
ERIN
Dad, we'll talk in the car.
Erin walks towards the door. He looks back at Adam and grins, his brown eyes glowing yellow for a second.
ERIN
I got you, bro. We're going to have some fun.
Jessica groans, rolling her eyes as she follows Adam into the foyer with Erin. Erin wraps his arm around Adam's neck, and Adam grabs his suitcase and walks with Erin.
I/E. DANIEL'S CAR - MORNING
As the werewolf King drives, Erin and Adam sit in the back seat of Daniel's car while Jessica sits in the front seat with headphones in her ears.
ERIN
Dad, I was about to tell you about Adam. I was just a little distracted—-
DANIEL
--Erin, I don't want to hear excuses. You should've told me when you realized he was a vampire fledgling.
Erin sighs, sitting back.
ERIN
We're sorry, Dad.
ADAM
You're sorry.
Mr. Sanchez glares at Erin, his eyes sparkling gold in the mirror.
DANIEL
You need to defend him at all costs. He can stay here at the safe house on the border of Oregon. It's only a matter of time before his hunger grows out of control and he bites his dad.
Daniel returns his gaze to the highway. Adam leans against the window and sits back.
ERIN
That's something I'll work on with him. Dad, have faith in me. I can sense his power, and so can Jessica.
Jessica plucks an earbud from her ear.
JESSICA
Don't bring me into this, Erin.
ERIN
Most vampires lack Adam's competence and power.
Mr. Sanchez runs a red light. He tapped the steering wheel nervously.
DANIEL
I know, which concerns me too.
ADAM
I'm alright.
Adam's stomach grumbles. Mr. Sanchez doesn't seem satisfied.
DANIEL
No, Adam, you're not. Your hunger will only intensify in the coming days.
ERIN
Dad, what am I supposed to do? Continue to invite him over, hoping that his father or sister won't notice his fangs.
Daniel inhales deeply, and his golden eyes turn brown again. He steps on the throttle and eases the automobile forward.
DANIEL
Exactly.
ERIN
Look, he's my best friend. I would do anything for him.
Daniel grumbles and turns up the stereo a few decibels. SILENCE. Erin puts his hand on my shoulder.
Erin's father pulls into the parking lot, and the closest parking spot next to an outmoded cabin. Erin, Jessica, and Adam look up at the old, run-down building,
ERIN
I'll text you when you want to leave this dumpster, Dad!
DANIEL
You better. Do you have the credit card?
Erin digs into his pocket and pulls out a stack of credit cards and cash.
DANIEL
Good, take care of Adam.
Adam adjusts his bag on his shoulder.
ADAM
Thanks, Mr. Sanchez.
DANIEL
Stay safe, and stay with them at all times. I texted Jeremy, too, in case anything goes wrong.
The three teens groan.
ERIN
Okay, got it, Dad.
DANIEL
Stay together.
Mr. Sanchez pulls away front of the old cabin village in the woods and straight down the dirt road down a few buildings, pulling into another nearby lot to the side of the dusty road. Erin sniffs fresh air.
ERIN
Home, sweet home.
Erin pushes open the dorm room door. Adam tries to walk away, but Erin grabs his arm and pulls him back.
JESSICA
Come on, Adam.
Erin pulls his sunshades to his face.
ERIN
We don't bite.
ADAM
Sure, you don't.
Adam walks and shuffles past Erin.
INT. CABIN ROOM - AFTERNOON
Adam lies on his bed. His eyes flicker open and close as a pillow slams into his face. Adam pushes the cushion off to the side, squinting. The sunlight from the window beside his bed blinds him.
His eyes shoot across the room at Erin's bunk.
ERIN
Dude, are you okay?
Adam pulls out of his bedsheets, grabs the pillow, and walks over to Erin, rubbing his throbbing temples, keeping time with Erin's thumping heartbeat.
ADAM
What the fuck, Erin?
Adam whacks Erin with a pillow and sits up.
ERIN
What the fuck?
Adam sighs.
ADAM
I didn't even want to come.
ERIN
Hey, this is vacation. Live a little.
Erin bites his tongue, reaching over Adam's abs to grab his pillow, and whips it across the room back towards Adam's bed.
ADAM
Funny.
Adam rolls his eyes. Erin yawns. Adam scowls, walks to his dresser, grabs a fresh change of clothes and glasses, and wanders to the bathroom.
INT. BATHROOM - AFTERNOON
Adam turns off the water, his chest burning as his stomach rumbles. He smiles in the mirror, his fangs barely protruding from my gums, a faint thumping heartbeat fills his eardrums, and the curdling smell of sweet blood makes him nauseous. He perks up when Erin knocks hard.
ERIN
Are you okay in there?
Adam's fangs grow as he staggers back, tripping over the bathroom carpet and falling into the glass shower door. It shatters in pieces, and he lays still on the floor, licking his teeth and running his tongue along his sharp K9s.
ERIN
Adam, are you okay in there?
There is silence as Erin knocks again.
ERIN
Adam, if you don't answer me, I'll get my dad.
Adam pulls his knees into his chest and closes his eyes, remaining calm as heartbeats thunder harder.
ERIN
ADAM!
Adam cups his hand over his mouth.
ERIN
That's it! I'm coming in!
Erin bursts through the door. Adam sits on the floor; sharp fangs elongate from his gums. His eyes glows crimson under the lights.
INT. CABIN ROOM - AFTERNOON
Erin paces the room. Adam sits on his bed, his head in his hands, licking his teeth.
ERIN
What the fuck? I thought something had happened.
ADAM
I'm sorry. I'm starving.
Erin paced quicker, and Adam chucks a pillow at him.
ADAM
Stop pacing!
ERIN
I'm sorry, okay?!
Adam huffs.
ADAM
I know.
ERIN
You scared the fuck out of me!
Erin sits on his bed, sitting back, staring at the ceiling.
ERIN
This is fucking crazy! You're a vampire.
ADAM
Big whoop. You're a fucking werewolf prince. A prince. You know this is your fault.
Erin scoffs.
ERIN
Me?
ADAM
If you hadn't forced me to go to that party, this would have never happened.
ERIN
They bit you, not me.

Erin and Adam sit up at the same time. Erin pulls out of bed and paces again.
ADAM
It's not like I asked for it. I...
A sudden sharp pain tightens Adam's chest. Heartbeats quickened. He hunches over on his bed, wincing in pain.
ERIN
Your eyes...
ADAM
I-I'm hungry.
Erin takes several steps back, knowing Adam can still bite him. Adam groans in pain.
ADAM
Is this going to happen all the time?
ERIN
I-I don't know.
Erin panics, watching Adam's teeth grow about half an inch long. Adam's stomach lunges.
ERIN
We needed this trip, and right now, we need to get you something, like blood.
Erin frantically panics again while searching for his car keys.
ADAM
Where the fuck are you going to get blood? It's not like--
Adam flops around on the bed. The pain is getting worst.
ERIN
--The store.
Erin takes a deep, reluctant breath.
ERIN
It's a couple of miles from here. Trust me; I have a plan... I think.
INT. GROCERY STORE - NOON
Adam throws on sunglasses, weaving down the candy aisle towards the deli with Erin. Erin's heart races. Adam groaned, stopping in his tracks, lunging forward.
ERIN
You still hungry?
ADAM
Yeah.
Erin grabs a handful of candy and throws it in the cart.
ADAM
What the hell do we need those for?
Erin doesn't answer. Instead, he approaches the deli counter tapping the bell. A deli man smiles and walks over, greeting the boys with a grin.
DELI MAN
What can I get for you, Erin?
ERIN
Can we get two steaks and a pound of hamburger meat?
The man points to the meat at the front window, and Erin nods silently. Then, the man packs the meat in silence, tags it, and slides it in front of Erin.
DELI MAN
On the house. Tell your father I said hi.
The deli man pushes the meat forward and glances at Adam, sick with hunger. Erin grabs the meat and slams it into the cart.
INT. CASHIER TABLE - NOON
Adam watches Blake Andrews scan the meat, his eyes on her, while the hot blondes distract Erin in the background, working the check-out counter next to Blake. She pushes the meat near the bagging section and smiles at Adam.
ADAM
Hey, Blake.
Adam blushes, watching her scan groceries.
ADAM
How's your grandma?
Erin wiggles his eyebrows at Blake, and she rolls her eyes, annoyed and bothered by Adam's question.
BLAKE
Is this all for you two?
Blake dodges Adam's question as she scans a juicer and starts bagging items. She clicks a button on the register and smiles.
BLAKE
One hundred and eighty-two dollars twenty-seven cents.
She fakes a smile at Erin and genuinely smiles at Adam. Erin pulls out his wallet and taps his credit card from his back pocket. Blake grabs the receipt, writes something on the back, and hands it to Adam.
BLAKE
I'll see you guys around the school.
ERIN
Cool.
Erin nods awkwardly, grabbing bags, and then we walks off.
I/E CORVETTE - NOON
Erin taps his fingers against the steering wheel of his Corvette and focuses on the road. Adam removes his sunglasses, hanging them on his shirt.
ERIN
I think she likes you.
Erin pulls into the cabin lot. A surge of pain hits Adam again, and he falls forward, grunting. The seat belt barely catches him.
ERIN
Whoa. WHOA! You good, bro?
Adam's fangs grow again, and he curls up in his seat.
ADAM
She gave us her number.
ERIN
Damn, Wiccans.
Adam's jaw tightens as he falls forward again, clutching his chest in pain.
ADAM
Dude, I need something NOW!
Erin pulls over and hits the brakes hard.
ERIN
Chill, man. You have the candy. It's between your legs.
Adam leans forward, grabbing a candy bar.
ADAM
Snickers? You've got to be fucking kidding.
Adam rolls eyes, staring at the calorie count.
ERIN
Eat the damn candy, Adam!
Erin pulls into a parking spot nearby. Adam yanks off the wrapper and takes a bite. Adam watches his red eyes flicker back to a blue in the mirror as he melts against the seat with every bite.
ERIN
Better?
ADAM
No, but I'll settle.
Adam's stomach gurgles in response. Erin shuts down the car and scans Adam with his eyes.
ERIN
You scared me a little.
Adam huffs, taking another bite.
ADAM
Yeah, me too.
Adam's seatbelt whips across his side, and he takes another indulgent bite of Snickers.
ERIN
You know what I think is crazy?
Erin plucks the keys out of the ignition with a genuine grin.
ADAM
That I'm a fucking vampire?
Erin swings his door open.
ERIN
Exactly.
Erin gets out of the car with a bag full of groceries while Adam grabs the rest of the bags between his legs, and pops on his sunglasses, following Erin back to the cabin with a bag of groceries and a snicker bar in his hand.
INT. Bar - NIGHT
Jeremy gulp down his fifth alcoholic drink of the night. They're at a bar. He laughs, not paying any attention to Adam, Erin and Jessica watching in disgust.
ADAM
Jeremy, I think you're drunk.
Jeremy wolf whistles at two older women far too old for him.
ADAM
Jeremy!
JEREMY
Yeah, blue boy.
Jeremy rolls his eyes. Adam pulls him away from the woman willingly.
ADAM
Ladies, I'm going to need him for a moment.
The ladies giggle as they walk off. Embarrassed, Jeremy flips the bird in Adam's direction.
JEREMY
What the bloody fuck, Adam.
ADAM
Seriously, Jeremy? That's all you've got?
Jeremy groans.
ADAM
Hey, are you drunk?
Adam leans into Jeremy to smell his breath but quickly flinches away.
JEREMY
I-I don't know. Are you a vampire? Y-you can sense shit.
Jeremy wobbles, but manages to steady himself.
JEREMY
Hey, does anyone else know your secret, or is it just Jessie, dog boy, and me?
Adam holds back nervous laughter as he grabs Jeremy by the shoulder and pulls him out of the bar. Erin and Jessica follow.
JEREMY
(screaming)
He's a VAMPIRE! He's a VAMPIRE!
Erin grabs his dad's car keys from his pocket while Adam opens the passenger side door and shoves Jeremy inside, and he throws up once and passes out.
Erin
I'm not cleaning that up.
INT./EXT. CAR - FREEWAY - NIGHT
Erin pulls into the cabin parking lot. Erin throws Jeremy over his shoulders and heaves him back to our cabin while Jessica and Adam follow.
INT. CABIN ROOM - NIGHT
Jeremy snoozes in Adam's bed while Adam, Erin, and Jessica try to wake him.
JESSICA
Jeremy, wake your ass up!
Jessica slaps him hard with hardly an eye flutter. Then, he peels his eyelids open as his silver eyes watch a fly in the room.
JEREMY
What happened?
ERIN
You're drunk as shit. How the fuck did you even get into a bar, let alone get wasted?
JEREMY
Fake ID.
Jeremy reaches into his pocket and holds his wallet unsteadily above his line of vision. Then, he feels his blood- coated shirt and lifts it, revealing fang marks.
JEREMY
Did you bite me, Adam?
ADAM
No.
JEREMY
Holy shit!
Jeremy sinks into the mattress, still half-drunk in a panic.
JEREMY
I'm going to be one of those weird hybrids mutts: part werewolf, part incubi, and part vampire.
ERIN
Maybe?
JEREMY
Hey, what about Blake? You promised me you would see her.
ADAM
Jeremy, don't change the subject.
JEREMY
I'm serious. You promised Erin.
ADAM
Yeah, but I don't want to. What if I can't control myself?
Jeremy scoffs.
JEREMY
ADAM!
ERIN
Seriously, not a good time for this. Not only do we have to sober you up, but we have to find the bitch that bit you and hope my dad won't have to find out about this.
Erin sucks in a sharp breath.
ERIN
But, you're going to ask her.
Adam chuckles.
ADAM
No, I'm not.
JESSICA
Yes, Adam, you are. Don't be such a chicken.
Adam rolls his eyes.
ADAM
OK, but this could go badly. Don't say I didn't warn you.
INT./EXT. BLAKE'S HOME - FRONT PORCH - DAY
Adam stands on Blake's front porch. He takes a deep breath and knocks on her door with a bouquet of roses. His eyes dart to the fields and barn off to the side nervously before the door swings open, and Blake stands in the doorway.
BLAKE
Hey, Adam.
ADAM
Hey, Blake.
Adam half-smiles, matching her energy.
ADAM
I like your, uh, home.

Adam stares at all the satanic symbols on the wall from the doorway.
BLAKE
Do you want to come in?

She smiles.
ADAM
Sure, why not. Blake moves from the doorway, and Adam follows her inside. The house is small, almost small. A fireplace at the front. A living room to the left and a kitchen to the right. Down the long hallway in front are bedrooms.
BLAKE
Nanna, I have a friend over.
Her grandmother, NANNA, clears her throat from the other room.
NANNA
All right. You two have fun.
Blake takes Adam's hand and guides him into her bedroom. Tons of rabbits' feet and dream catchers hanging everywhere. We made intense eye contact, and helps him onto her bed.
BLAKE
Have you ever thought about where we go when we die?
She cocks her head to study Adam.
BLAKE
I've never seen you without your glasses until recently.
Adam gulps, his palms getting clammy.
ADAM
I'm guessing it's a vampire thing?
Adam stares at her. He almost doesn't realize that she's staring back.
BLAKE
Have you ever thought about energy and how it shifts?
ADAM
No.
Suddenly she rips her glasses off, leaning toward Adam on the bed.
BLAKE
Have you ever been kissed by someone?
Adam nervously stares at her again.
ADAM
Well, by you.
Blake leans forward, her heavy breath mixing with the air. She's so close. Their noses touch.
BLAKE
Kiss me again, Adam.
Without hesitation, Adam and Blake fall against the mattress, in a full blown makeout session. He lips brush Adam's as his fangs grow.
His kisses travel down her neck, feeling her smooth chocolate skin against his tongue, and suddenly, his fangs clamp down on her shoulder. She barely notices.
He cleans the blood from his lips with his tongue before she can see and restrains himself from taking another bite.
BLAKE
Adam?
ADAM
Yeah?
Adam stares into her eyes.
BLAKE
Did you bite me?
She falls back on the mattress.
ADAM
I'm sorry. Would you like me to leave?
His guilt eats him alive.
BLAKE
Yes. I'm sorry about this, Adam.
Except, he's the one that should be sorry. He rises from her bed, walking over towards the door, but he turns back to check on her.
Blake is half asleep as if someone drugged her.
BLAKE
(mumbling)
Adam, take a rabbit's foot for protection.
Adam looks at her collection of rabbits' feet on her desk and grabs the one closest to the doorway.
ADAM
I'll call you later to make sure you're okay.
BLAKE
Okay.
INT. CABIN ROOM - NOON
Erin stares at Adam, surprised.
ERIN
You bit her?
ADAM
I know, I know. I messed up. I didn't have any candy, and her blood smelled so good. I couldn't help my craving.
ERIN
Damn straight, you fucking messed up. She's a Wiccan. Part of the biggest Wiccan family in the world, but her kind is not immune to vampire bites like werewolves.
Adam groans.
ADAM
(Miserably)
Fuck.
Erin shifts in bed.
ERIN
Did she notice? Did you bite her on the neck?
ADAM
Yeah, I carefully planned a stereotypical bite with a witch. What the fuck do you think?
ERIN
She's a Wiccan! There's a difference.
Adam scoffs, throwing his hands behind his head.
ADAM
Like what? Witches are ugly or something?
ERIN
Something like that... Wait, were you two, like, you know, doing—
Adam scoffs again.
ADAM
What do I look like? A walking sex God?
Adam's stomach growls. Erin shrugs.
ERIN
How much blood did you drink?
ADAM
I don't know. I told Blake I would call her to check on her, and I'm not exactly sure how this vampire thing works. I don't know if it happens. We bite and take blood—
Adam huffs, shifting sides.
ADAM
Besides, she seemed fine when I left her.
Erin sighs.
ERIN
You better hope to whatever fucking god out there you didn't turn her into a vampire.
Adam chucks a chocolate bar at Erin.
ERIN
Just in case you're still hungry.
Adam catches it and rips it open, taking a huge bite.
ERIN
You need a plan so that it doesn't happen again. Maybe, you tell her you're sick and ghost her.
Adam grunts, sitting up.
ADAM
I'm not going to ghost her. I can always stuff my pockets with chocolate bars.
ERIN
Sometime tomorrow, you need to call Blake to check up on her. For now, my dad will kill us if he hears us still talking, so good night.
ADAM
Good night, Erin.
Adam yawns. Erin claps his hands together, and the lights flicker out.
ERIN
The clapper. It comes in handy.
Adam sighs through the darkness.
ADAM
Shut up, Erin.
Adam turns over.
EXT. BLAKES HOME - DAY
Erin nearly hyperventilates beside Adam. The two boys watch from Erin's Corvette as paramedics rush into Blake's home. A barn sits in the background as cattle moo and a rooster wail in the distance.
ERIN
Adam, you killed her.
Adam anxiously nibbles on a candy bar to help soothe his hungry nerves.
Then, the paramedics drag a very pale, unconscious, and sick- looking Blake out of her home on a stretcher.
ERIN
Oh, thank god! She's alive. We should go over there to check it out.
ADAM
Erin!
ERIN
Adam, you did this; you should at least see what's going on.
Adam sighs, shrugging back into the car seat.
ADAM
You're going to get us in huge trouble if we—
Adam peers over at Erin, now halfway to Blake's house, outside the car.
ADAM
Damn it, Erin!
Adam takes a bite of his candy bar and throws the rest of the bar on the dashboard while he bolts after Erin. Adam steadily catches up to Erin. Erin throws his arm around Adam's shoulders, nearly causing Adam to topple over him.
The boys stand a couple of feet from the house. They watch two paramedics help place the stretcher in the ambulance. A police officer takes questions from her grandparents about what could cause cardiac arrest. Adam picks up the conversation with super hearing and supervision.
SERIES OF QUICK CUTS:
AN ANIMAL LACERATION BITES THE WOUND ON HER RIGHT SHOULDER
NEAR HER CLAVICLE.
SHE HAS SWELLING AND BRUISING AROUND THE WOUND.
HER LIPS ARE A PALE BLUE.
END OF QUICK CUTS.
Adam listens to the ticking of her pounding pulse slowly. Erin whacks Adam on the shoulder, pulling him out of his zone.
ERIN
Adam, what are they saying?
Adam whacks him back.
ADAM
You have super hearing.
ERIN
Yeah, but you're already eavesdropping.
Adam sighs.
ADAM
Fine. I fucked up.
Adam crosses his arms.
ERIN
Yeah, dude. I think we already figured that one out.
Adam listens in to the two paramedics again.
PARAMEDIC ONE
Bitten twice. Poor girl. Those fucking bastard vamps are stupid.
The paramedic lifts a bloodied blanket covering her lower half, finding a second bite wound on her dark thigh.
Erin rolls his eyes.
ADAM
Wait, I didn't bite her twice. That one wasn't me! What the hell is going on?!
ERIN
What?
A cop, MASON MOON, across the way flags down Erin and Adam, catching their attention.
MASON
Erin, you shouldn't be out here right now.
ERIN
Yep, sorry, Mason. My friend needed some fresh air.
Adam glares at Erin, shoving his muscled fist into Erin's back, causing him to jerk forward.
ERIN
Ouch.
ADAM
Yeah, I think I'm good now. We're going to go back to the car.
Adam wraps his arm around Erin's shoulder and tugs Erin, with him to the car.
INT. CABIN ROOM - DAY
Erin lays back against his mattress while Adam sits on the edge. Erin's on his cell phone while Adam stares at the wall.
ADAM
Erin!
ERIN
You fucked up my back with your super strength.
Erin shifts on his mattress, trying to crack his spine.
ADAM
Okay, sorry. Now, are you going to listen?
ADAM
What?
Erin sits up, watching Adam. Then, he walks over from his bed and slumps down on the bottom of my mattress.
ADAM
There was another bite. Someone else bit her after I did.
ERIN
Wait, what? You sure about that?
ADAM
Yes, I don't know who, but someone else bit her. They found another bite on her left leg.
ERIN
So, there's a slight possibility that you're not why she's in that state.
Erin lays back horizontally across my mattress and sighs
ERIN
Do you think that whoever did this is trying to set you up or mess with you?
ADAM
Great question.
ERIN
How much did you take?
ADAM
Not much. Someone was trying to hurt me or her.
Erin nods.
ERIN
Or both of you. Let's hope you didn't infect her with, You know—
Suddenly, there's a knock on the door, and it screeches open. Jessica and Jeremy stand there staring at the two boys.
JESSICA
Erin, Uncle Dan is going to kill you two.
JEREMY
Yeah, mate. You're fucked.
ERIN
Should we visit her, or...
Adam glares at Erin with a raised eyebrow.
ERIN
What? You're my best friend, and I know you have a cute little crush—
ADAM
Erin, if she is a vampire, I won't put my best friend in danger.
Erin rolls his eyes.
ERIN
Oh, come on! Do you think I need protection? I'm the werewolf prince. I'm immune, remember.
JEREMY
But you can still die, and if you think for one bloody second, I'm not telling your father what you two Bimbos did—
ERIN
It's Himbos, genius.
JEREMY
I know.
Suddenly, Jessica shoves Jeremy into the wall next to him and holds him in place with one strong arm.
JESSICA
You're not telling the king a damn word about this, Jeremy, or I'm telling him they infected you too.
JEREMY
(Intimidated)
Okay, fine.
Jeremy's arms rise to the sky.
ERIN
What are you going to do if she is a vampire?
JEREMY
I don't know, Sherlock. What should we do?
Jeremy adjusts his wrinkled collar.
JEREMY
She is a bloody pure-blooded Wiccan.
ERIN
She WAS pure blood.
JESSICA
Shut up.
ERIN
Okay, fine.
Erin rolls off the bed and reaches under the mattress.
ERIN
Are we taking the risk that she's one of the undead, or do we visit her to find out?
JESSICA
No shit.
Erin chucks a handful of chocolate bars at Adam.
ERIN
Great, take those, and be ready for anything.
JEREMY
You mean like a bloodthirsty half- Wiccan, half-vampire bitch? Oh, yeah. Adam and I have this shit down, no biggy.
Jessica elbows Jeremy into his gut, and he doubles back to the ground against the wall behind him.
JEREMY
Damn, werewolf strength.
Jeremy groaned in pain, clutching his stomach.
ERIN
Wuff.
Erin stares at Jessica with an amused, cocky smirk.
ADAM
It's going to work out as planned. Like Jeremy said, no biggy.
Adam stares at the wall again, anxiety filling his thoughts.
INT. HOSPITAL ROOM - NOON
Adam stands next to Blake's bed. Erin pulls a chair up beside him and sits back. Blake is weak, barely awake, but she smiles as her eyes meet Adam.
BLAKE
(Hoarse voice)
Adam.
She props herself up. Adam smiles, slipping his hand into hers.
ADAM
Hey.
ERIN
Oh, thank god she's not a vampire.
Adam whacks Erin in the chest.
ADAM
Dude, shut up.
A nurse walks in, checking Blake's bandages on her shoulder and thigh. Adam looks away for a moment.
Erin socks Adam's buffed arm. Then, the nurse's eyes shift over to the two boys.
NURSE
Are you two..?
The nurse's eyes are trained on Adam.
ERIN
We're just friends.
The nurse nods.
NURSE
Right. I need to check with the doctor to see what he said, but she should be okay to go home.
Blake sits up, takes a few deep breaths, and squirms in her bed as Adam LISTENS to her heart beating to a strange rhythm. Thump-thump, thump. Thump. Thump-thump-thump.
The doctor, mid-'60s, walks in.
DOCTOR
It looks like you're ready to go.
The doctor's dark eyes land on Adam. Something feels off about him. Erin shifts closer to the bed in his seat.
DOCTOR
Are you boys alright?
ERIN
Yeah.
Then, the doctor relaxes into the chair.
DOCTOR
Are you two taking her home?
Erin and Adam exchange glances and shrugs.
ERIN
Yep.
DOCTOR
Good, I'll be back with the discharge papers.
The Doctor walks out of the room.
INT/EXT. CAR - NOON
Blake sits in the back seat of Daniel's car, half awake between Jeremy and Jessica. Erin drives, panicked, while Adam sits in the passenger seat. Jeremy taps his fingers against Blake's cheek, trying to keep her awake.
JEREMY
Come on, Blake. Stay with us.
JESSICA
I thought you said she was okay.
Jessica watches Adam curled up against the window. Erin watches Blake through the mirror.
ERIN
She was until we got her out of the hospital.
Erin focuses on the road.
ERIN
Maybe we're wrong. Maybe she is turning?
Erin swerves into the cabin parking lot and hits the brakes. Adam looks back at her, poking her knee.
ADAM
Blake, please wake up.

Blake doesn't move a muscle. Anxiety courses through him as his stomach growls again.
JEREMY
Goddamn it, Adam. You're bloody hungry now?
ADAM
I can't help it.
Erin pulls into the cabin's closest accessible parking spot. Then, he unbuckles his seatbelt and flings it across the car.
ERIN
Let's get her into the cabin. You guys can carry her, right?
JEREMY
What the bloody fuck was that? A sad attempt at a joke?
Erin glares at Jeremy. Jeremy slips his arm under Blake's while Adam rushes to help him. They hobble her past a group of Erin's father's friends and into the Cabin dorm.
CUT TO:
Blake lays back on Adam's bedsheets. Adam lies on the bed beside her, watching her with his arms tucked behind her neck.
ADAM
What sick fuck could have done this to her?
JEREMY
Uh, you, mate.
Jeremy stretches against the wall.
Erin sighs. Adam throws a pillow at Jeremy, and he dodges it swiftly.
ADAM
Again, It wasn't me. Someone else bit Blake, too.
ERIN
Someone wants to set you up.
Jeremy chucks the pillow at Erin, and Erin dodges it.
ERIN
So, what are we going to do about Blake, you know... We're hoping she's not a vampire, but we all know she...
ADAM
Know what?
JEREMY
She could be one of the undead—a vampire.
ADAM
You're part vampire, too.
ERIN
At this point, he is a mutt. I wouldn't be surprised if he started practicing witchcraft.
Jeremy groans, staring at Erin.
JEREMY
Shut up, dog boy.
Jeremy slides against the wall behind him to the floor.
ERIN
Wuff. You're a dick.
Erin rolls his eyes.
JEREMY
Oh, so you CAN bark.
Blake shifts on the mattress, her eye shut as she kicks around as if she's having a nightmare.
BLAKE
Adam?
Adam slips his hand into hers.
ADAM
I'm right here, Blake.
Jeremy started to chuckle.
JEREMY
What a sappy moment this is. Are you two going to kiss or some shit like--
Jessica slaps Jeremy's chest.
JESSICA
Shut up, Jeremy.
JEREMY
Sorry.
BLAKE
(Dazed in delirium)
Run, Adam, run.
ERIN
What is he running from?
She shifted around. Adam presses the back of his hand against her forehead. She feels ice-cold to the touch and seems almost lifeless, like a puppet on a string. He tries to hold her still as she squirms in the bed. Her body slowly turns purple and blue.
Her hand twitch as she shifts it back into his. She floats from the mattress. Adam lets her go, falling off the mattress in fear. Erin and Jeremy race to her side and grab her arms and legs, and her eyes peel open wide, white as snow, as she mutters two words.
BLAKE
THEY'RE COMING.
Then, she drops to the bed. The thumping of her heart lies still.
END OF ACT FOUR
ACT FIVE
INT. CABIN ROOM - MIDNIGHT
It's one o'clock, and Adam is restless on the floor with a pillow. His stomach urges for blood. He craves it as if it is drawing him forward, and his hand swoop to the side for a chocolate bar. His eyes bounce to Jeremy and Erin sleeping next to him on the floor before his eyes change course to Jessica, sleeping cozily in Erin's bed, before they shoot to my comfy bed, where Blake disappears. He panics, scanning the room for Blake.
Loud rustling from the kitchen distracts Adam. Someone stands there with the fridge open and a bloodied mess on the floor. Adam panics as hunger strikes his stomach, and he grabs any piece of chocolate he can find. Then, he shakes Erin awake.
Adam
Erin, someone's here.
Half asleep, Erin swats at Adam.
ERIN
You get them.
ADAM
Someone. Is. Here.
Another set of footprints sounds. That someone stands right in front of Adam.
ADAM
Blake?
BLAKE
Glad you're awake. What did you do to me?
ADAM
How is this MY FAULT?! First, I only bit you once and I wouldn't have gotten bit if you hadn't let me drink from your cup.
Blake
Adam, you were born--
JEREMY
Alright! I'm up.
Jeremy kicks around before his eyes land on Blake, blood dripping from her fangs.
JEREMY
Good morning, Strawberry Lips.
He watches her with a cocky grin.
BLAKE
Bite me.
Jeremy rolls his eyes.
JEREMY
Geez. The one time I try to be bloody nice.
BLAKE
Why do you care?
JEREMY
I don't.
Blake turns to Adam.
BLAKE
Adam, you're not safe here. None of us are.
ADAM
What do you mean I'm not safe?
BLAKE
Erin had a vision. I-I can sense it. None of us are safe. Adam's dad, the king, everyone is in trouble.
All eyes shift to Erin in the background as Erin wiggled his fingers at them.
ERIN
I didn't want to say anything until I was sure it would happen.
JESSICA
Son of a bitch, Erin.
Jessica slams her fist into his rib.
JESSICA
You big chicken shit. You could have warned us you had one too.
ERIN
Hey, I am not a chicken shit. I didn't want to find out I altered time and reality.
Jessica scoffs.
JESSICA
Sure, because it's not like we don't need that right now.
ADAM
Wait! I had one too.
Jeremy sighs.
JEREMY
Great. So, who's telling the king? Because if dog-boy isn't going to do it, I certainly will.
BLAKE
Stop with the fucking name-calling, Jeremy. This isn't high school where you can act like an ass in front of your jock friends and get away with it. It's real life.
JESSICA
Besides, he's as much of a dog as Erin or I am.
Jessica shrugs.
JEREMY
I bite.
ERIN
I'm sure you do, mutt-boy.
JEREMY
Mutt-boy? What the fuck is that?
Jeremy laughs. Adam's stomach growls, hungry for blood. His knees buckle, and he collapses to the floor.
ERIN
Whoa, whoa, whoa!
Adam's fangs yank from his gums until they visibly plunge into his bottom lips. Suddenly there's a knock at the door. The king, or what seems to be the king rattles the door.
THE KING
Erin! Erin, let me in.
ERIN
(Confused)
Dad?
THE KING
Let me in, son.
Something feels off, almost unreal.
ERIN
That... That's not my father. Nobody let him in.
ADAM
Who the fuck is it, then?
THE IMPOSTER KING
Erin! If you don't let me in right now...
JEREMY
It's a Chimaera. They found us.
ERIN
We have to go now!
Erin urgently started to pace to the window.
Jessica
This is sacred ground. They can't enter without permission.
JEREMY
Who the fuck let it in?
BLAKE
Nobody let it in, genius. It's impersonating Erin's dad.
There was a knock on the window, and their eyes shift.
BLAKE
They have the king.
Hannah drops from the sky, floating at the base of the window, knocking with long, crusted nails scraping against the window sill. She licks the blood from her fingertips, staring at Adam with cold blood-red eyes.
HANNAH
Adam. Blake. Jeremy.
A moon hangs in the sky outside the room. Adam's stomach growls again, and he lets out a blood-curdling scream as pain stabs his gut.
ADAM
(weak)
Save yourselves.
Glass shatters in the distance, and vampires rush the room, cornering all five of them in the middle. Adam collapses to the floor, curls up in a fetal position.
HANNAH
Hey, Adam. Dad says hi.
Hannah licks her fangs, yet her blood-red eyes meets her brother on the ground. Jessica and Erin step in front of Adam.
JEREMY
Hey, babe.
Jeremy smiles at her, his arm curling around Hannah's shoulders.
ERIN
Jeremy, you son of a bitch! I knew we couldn't trust a dick like you. What did you do with my dad?
HANNAH
He's safe for now.
Adam sits up, finding the strength to pull himself from the floor.
ADAM
And my dad?
HANNAH
He's like you—a half-undead piece of shit. Mom did warn me about turning Dad and you. I should have fucking listened to her.
ADAM
Mom's alive?
Adam watches her crimson eyes meet Erin's golden eyes.
HANNAH
Yeah, and she can't wait for you to join us.
ADAM
I'll never join you.
Blake starts to mumble under her breath.
BLAKE
Committatur ignem gehennae aeternum perire non amplius in aeternum perire lamia sanguine. Committatur ignem gehennae aeternum perire non amplius in aeternum perire lamia sanguine!
She chants repeatedly, but she falls to the floor, whimpering in pain.
HANNAH
Your curses do nothing but hurt you, Blake. You're just as weak as Adam and just as hungry. The vampire's curse has damaged your soul. You know what you have to do to stop it.
BLAKE
(Whimpering)
Adam.
Blake quivers in fear.
A deep howl escapes Erin and Jessica, and their bones crunch as their bodies morph into the beasts, shifting in front of her. A group of vampires seizes Blake, their arms coiling around hers. Jeremy flings Erin across the room with supernatural strength. It's an ambush forced under Hannah's power.
BLAKE
Adam! ADAM!
EXT. CAMPGROUNDS - MIDNIGHT
Heavy silver binds Blake, Harrison, and Adam's wrists and ankles together while a metal neck brace bonds Erin, Jessica, the king, the coach, and the other wolves to mental poles like dogs. Adam's vision flickers as he tries to focus. Keys dangle from Jeremy's jeans pockets. Blake screams from the hunger pains jabbing her gut.
HARRISON
Adam, are you okay?
Harrison stares at Adam with a heavily sunken glance, and he turns his head just enough to look at him, the moonlight reflecting off his blood-red eyes.
ADAM
I think so.
Adam pulls on his restraints, but it's no use.
ADAM
Are you okay, Dad?
HARRISON
Yeah.
Harrison gasps as hunger pains hit his chest and stomach, and he doubles forward, his chains keeping him steadily in place. I recognized where we were. It was the old camp sight, where The torn flag and the splintered totem pole create an eerie site.
BLAKE
ADAM!
Suddenly Hannah stands in front of Erin, stabbing his bare chest with a hot steak, burning his flesh as he snarls, his eyes golden and glowing under the moonlight.
JESSICA
Erin!
Jeremy appears beside her, stabbing Jessica with another hot iron, but his eyes look empty and sad. She wails in pain, As burning steel splits her flesh from her body.
A chimera, stocky, bony bird-like, and human hybrid-looking beast wandered from the woods, a goblet in its hands filled with blood. ALEC BENJAMIN, the kid with the camera, appears by Hannah's side in a red robe, with his hoodie flung above his head and two robes in his hands, handing them both to Hannah and Jeremy as they join his side in front of Adam. Jeremy slips up his sleeves and accepts the glass from the beast.
DANIEL
Adam! Blake! Harrison! Listen to me. You need to fight it. Fight your hunger. Don't let it consume you.
A steel skewer plunges into his chest.
ERIN
And whatever you do, don't drink the blood from the cup.
A skewer plunges into Erin's chest again. Then, three more vampire deities appear, removing their hood. One of them being the doctor. The second vampire pulls down her hoodie, but her red eyes charm Adam, almost leaving him in a haze, but the last one has him squirming uncomfortably as his eyes meet hers.
ADAM
Mom?!
HARRIETT COHEN, watches her son with a sadistic grin.
HARRIETT
It's nice to see you, baby. I'm sure you'll find vampirism quite cozy since you were born half-blood anyway.
Her eyes dodge to Harrison, squirming. Blake screams at the top of her lungs, but it's useless.
HARRIETT
Nobody can hear you, my dear Wiccan.
Harriett takes the goblet from Alec's fingers, putting the cup of blood to Adam's lips, tipping it just enough to trickle into his mouth.
HARRIETT
Drink, Adam!
Adam spits it back into the cup.
HARRIETT
Drink, goddamn it!
Alec steps forward, plugging Adam's nose with his fingertips, and she tips the cup again, watching it drizzle down Adam's throat and into his aching stomach.
HARRIETT
Good, now it's your father's turn.
She pulled the cup away as I tried to induce vomiting, but the blood settled in my abdomen like water defusing a raging fire.
BLAKE
Adam!
Tears run down her cheeks as she watches Mr. Cohen drink. Then, Harriett brings the cup to her lips, battling Blake, before Adam's mother forces her to gulp quickly. Then, she pulls the glass to her lips, sucking down the last blood.
Harriett returns to her son's side, stroking his cheek with her fingertips.
HARRIETT
Happy memories, my sweet, sweet prince. Happy, happy memories.
Adam jerks in his chains, feeling new strength wave into his arms—one chain snaps, and soon another one too.
HARRIETT
How do you feel, my baby?
Adam stretches his fingers open and closed as Blake and Harrison break free, their fangs growing and their eyes gleaming blood red.
ERIN
(weak)
Adam.
ADAM
I feel...
A new hunger surges through him like nothing he's ever felt before.
Adam grips his chains, staring at Blake, and Jeremy, waiting for the nod. Then, he swings it forward like a whip, smashing it into his mother's nose like Indiana Jones.
Harriett screams out in pain as other vampires seize them from nearby. Blake shoots her hands out, knocking a row of vampires off their feet with a powerful force as Harris0on takes on Hannah.
Jeremy frantically juggles the keys before he finds the master key and jams it into the king's locked collar. Then he releases the rest of the wolves one by one.
JEREMY
Go, RUN!
The wolves race to Adam and Blake's aid. The King tackles Harriett, gnawing at her face before wrestling with her as he morphs into a giant wolf.
Adam whips the last few of the vampires with the end of his chain, knocking them to their feet.
DANIEL
Run, Adam. Take Blake, Jeremy, my son, and the other wolves with you. Your father and I can hold off the rest.
HARRIETT
Adam! Don't you dare disobey me!
The king rips her limbs from limb as she fights, shredding her with solid swipes of his paws. Suddenly her eyes grow cold, solid black, and she freezes; rigor mortis immediately settles into her corpse. The queen of vampires is dead.
HARRISON
Run, Adam!
Erin, Jessica, and Jeremy lure Blake and Adam to the woods, unsure if this is the safest escape, but it's the only thing they have.
JEREMY
Let's go!
They rush into the woods as angry vampires chase them. They take off fast into the woods. Adam fades quickly; his hunger consumes him with a fierce appetite for blood.
ERIN
Adam, follow me!
Adam's head spins in a daze as trees fly by fast, almost weightless as if he's running on air.
EXT. WOODS - NIGHT
Erin twists and turns through trees as Adam keeps up a fast pace, their mystical eyes glowing under the moonlight. Then Erin lets out a howl, signaling to the pack. A dozen more howls sound through the dark, dense forest as he stops to catch his breath.
ERIN
Go, go on without me.
He pants, leaning against a tree as he catches his breath.
ADAM
I can't. You're my best friend. I can't do this without you.
ERIN
Adam, you have to. They'll kill you if you don't.
ADAM
They'll kill you too if I don't protect you.
ERIN
You can't do this to me. You've done this to me for years, Adam.
ADAM
What?
Erin sighs.
ERIN
You always do the opposite of what I tell you. I'm ordering you to run. Go on without me. I'll catch up. I promise you I will, and when I do, you bet your ass I'm kicking your ass for this.
ADAM
Erin, I—
ERIN
Just go!
Blake, Jessica, and Jeremy catch up to them.
BLAKE
Come on, Adam.
JESSICA
He'll be okay, Adam. I promise. He's a prince.
BLAKE
Please.
Suddenly there's a rustling in the near distance.
JEREMY
It's too late. The other vampires are catching up, and they're angry.
ERIN
They might be strong, but we're stronger.
Suddenly they're surrounded, guarding every angle, the wolves' bones snapping and changing.
Erin's eyes glow. His white snarling teeth snap at something in the distance. He seems cornered by wolves, and there's no escape. A saddened howl in the distance shows defeat. Erin's surroundings cave him in; five thirsty vampires, hungry for wolves' blood. Their eyes are the color of the blood coating their lips. They slowly move closer, circling Erin as their prey.
JESSICA
Adam. Adam!
More bloody-thirsty vampires circle Blake, Jeremy, and Jessica. Jessica's designer dress is messy; her hair is matted and tangled as she wrestles with two vampires.
JESSICA
Adam... Adam... ADAM!
Erin searches the dense forest for an escape and a way to save Jessica. His eyes narrow on a gap between the vampire pack, and he sprints past them, picking up the pace at inhuman speed. He was not fast enough for them as they doubled into his side, fangs bulging from their gums and eyes like a crimson sunset. Erin morphs back to a human ask, his heartbeat quickened, staring hesitantly into my eyes, begging for mercy. He pants hard, looking for a way out. There was a sudden snap in the distance, followed by an agonizing yelp.
Erin falls to his knees in defeat, and Adam swoops forward, ramming into the vampire who sunk his fangs deep into Erin's neck. From behind a distinctive voice, Blake pleads for it to stop.
BLAKE
Adam... ADAM!
Adam's head tilts so he can understand her; his attention veers to Erin's neck as he whimpers in pain.
ERIN
(To Jeremy)
Use your Incubus powers or some shit like that.
JEREMY
They don't work on most vampires, dumbass. They don't have souls.
Blake rolls her eyes as she starts chanting.
BLAKE
Wiccans, Deos deasque, auxilium te invoco. Tuere lamia regem et principem luporum. (English: Wiccans, gods, and goddesses, I call upon you for help. Protect the vampire king and the prince of wolves.)
A powerful ripple propels Blake as her fingers drag forward. A miracle pulse thumps in Adam's chest. His heart nearly leaps from my chest. A sensation of warmth brushes his cheeks, and a bright light blinds him; suddenly, there's still darkness, and he's floating high above the vampires—power courses through Adam as he lands next to Erin.
BLAKE
Vampire Bloodthirst melius est mori, ne amandanda sint inferno: sunt enim flammis aeternitatis.

She thrusts her hands out at the bloodthirsty vampires. They perish in flames before denigrating to a pile of ash. The woods break out in a fire.
ERIN
You have to go!

Erin rubs his sore, bitten neck.
ADAM
Not without you.
ERIN
Yeah, I'm coming. I need to check on my dad.
JEREMY
Go! We'll meet up by the old cabin.
Erin hobbles to his feet, still in quite a bit of dizzying pain. Adam watches him in concern, watching him weave back towards the campgrounds.
ADAM
You promise you'll be okay?
ERIN
Scouts honor.
ADAM
At least let me come with you. You have no idea what you're getting yourself into. It could be a trap.
ERIN
It most likely is a trap. But I have to rescue my dad. I guess if you want to come, stay close. You have no idea what we're getting into.
ADAM
I promise I will stay close.
JEREMY
Well, that's bloody great. The werewolf prince and the vampire prince are off to save the king.
Jeremy throws his hands in the air in one quick swoop.
BLAKE
You better not get yourself killed.
ADAM
I promise we'll come out in one piece.
BLAKE
You better. I will personally reach down into hell and kill you if I have to.
She batts her eyelashes.
ERIN
Let's go! We need to make it there before they kill my father. I can sense life still in him.
JEREMY
Have fun, blue boy.
Jeremy salutes Adam.
JEREMY
Kill those sons of bitches. Especially your sister.
ADAM
I thought you loved my sister?
JEREMY
Hell no.
Jeremy chuckles nervously, rubbing the back of his neck.
JEREMY
She's a dirty narcissist bitch.
Erin rolls his eyes in disgust.
ERIN
Sure, that's why you let her capture us.
JEREMY
I was playing along until I had my moment to save you guys. You're welcome. Go! And stay safe. Howl of anything goes wrong.
ERIN
Got it.
Erin looks at Adam.
ERIN
You ready?
ADAM
Nope, but I'll deal.
ERIN
Great, let's go!
Then, they race back to the campsite.
EXT. CAMPSITE - NIGHT
The two boys arrive at the campsite. Erin's bloodied and beaten father hangs from chains, bare-chested with a purple flower duck-taped to his chest. He was still alive but barely breathing on his own.
ERIN
Dad!
Daniel barely lifts his head to look at the boys in his weak state.
DANIEL
Erin, don't come closer. She has wolfsbane.
ERIN
Dad! I can't lose you.
The King looks sad at Erin, defeated by his worst enemy.
DANIEL
I'm not going anywhere. I promise.
Hannah walks out from a distance. She twirls an ax in her thin hand. Then, she chucked it at Mr. Sanchez, and it narrowly misses his face.
HANNAH
Next time I won't miss it.
ERIN
There won't be a next time, you psychopath.
HANNAH
Is baby wolf king threatening me?
She reaches into her cloak pocket and pulls out a silver dagger.
HANNAH
This...
She feels the tip of the knife.
HANNAH
This is real silver. If I chuck this at your daddy and it hits him in the right place, you'll become the next king of the wolves.
She brings the knife to her tongue, licking it as blood trickles down her mouth. Erin shifts in front of his dad, straight in front of the line of fire. Adam steps in front of Erin.
ERIN
What are you doing, Adam? Silver can hurt vampires too.
ADAM
I'm willing to take that risk.
Erin wrestles to get in front of Adam, but Adam won't let him.
HANNAH
You're a brave one, Adam, just like Daddy. It's too bad I killed him just a few minutes ago.
ADAM
You sick bitch! What do you want from me?
HANNAH
The throne. I want the thrown, you idiot.
ADAM
You can have the thrown. I never wanted it anyway.
HANNAH
Good.
Hannah chucks the knife, narrowly missing Daniel again.
HANNAH
Let's play a game, Erin.
She pulls one more knife from her waist.
HANNAH
I hit your dad in the heart, and you become the next King. I miss you, and you die.
ERIN
NO! I'm not letting you kill my dad.
Adam steps forward.
ADAM
Take me.
Hannah flips the knife in her palm.
HANNAH
You were always a daddy's boy.
Then, she sighs.
HANNAH
I guess I better not miss it.
She chucks the knife, which plunges into Erin's chest in a split second. His knees buckle as he collapses to the floor. Adam rushes over, catching him in his arms.
HANNAH
Oops.
Hannah chuckles, a bright smile on her lips.
HANNAH
I always knew Erin was a daddy's boy too.
ADAM
Erin, stay with me.
Adam holds Erin in his arms, watching his eyes flutter as he fights for his life.
ERIN
Adam, I-I love you. You were like a brother to me.
Blood seeps from Erin's lips.
ADAM
(Yelling)
Please don't die on me.

The king watches in the distance as Hannah disappears into the darkness. Erin's eyes flutter again, weakened from the knife sticking out in his chest. His breath becomes shallow, and he struggles.
ADAM
Don't fall asleep. Don't you dare fall asleep on me?
DANIEL
Adam, I want you to listen to me. Bite him. Take as much blood as you can. It's the only way to save him.
ERIN
(Delirious)
Adam, do werewolves go to heaven.
Adam starts to cry.
ADAM
Erin, I need to bite you. I don't know if it'll hurt, but I must take as much blood as possible.
ERIN
(Slurring)
T-try as you might. I am too far gone.
Erin's eyes flutter again, trying to stay awake, but he can barely fight as more blood fizzles from his lips.
DANIEL
Do it now, Adam!
Adam's fangs grow lustful for blood as he leans in. His teeth puncture Erin's throat as his lips. Erin's heartbeat grows soft. His eyes flicker one last time before he's gone, like a flicker of a light switch.
ADAM
Hannah, you psycho bitch!
Adam searches the open night air, yanking the knife from Erin's lifeless chest.
DANIEL
Adam, let her go.
Adam lays Erin's body on the floor and rips the wristbands from Daniel's wrists.
DANIEL
You did what you could.
A tear runs down Daniel's cheek.
Daniel collapses to the floor, weak as well. Adam rips the wolfsbane from his chest, chucking it to the side, watching the king regain some strength.
The King leans down to feel his son's pulse, but Erin is lifeless on the floor.
DANIEL
I'm sorry, Adam, for everything.
Daniel frantically searches his son for any signs of life, tears streaming down his face.
DANIEL
I'm sorry for getting you into this mess. If I knew it would turn out this way, I would have never let Erin become your friend.
ADAM
Stop it! Please stop it!
DANIEL
My son is dead because of me.
ADAM
No. Erin's dead because of ME! He's dead because I let this happen!
Adam screams in rage into the open air. Suddenly the king wraps his arms around Adam in a tight hug.
DANIEL
Adam, it's okay! It's going to be okay.
Thunder claps in the distance as rain clouds move into visibility. Lightning strikes the nearby body of water, and rain pours from the sky.
DANIEL
I'm so sorry, Adam. I'll take care of you as if you're my own. I promise I won't let this or anything like this happens to you again.
Tears well in Adam's eyes as he stares at Erin's lifeless body.
DANIEL
Everything is going to be okay.
The king sways with Adam still in his arms, mostly soothing himself over the loss of his son. The rain pours as Adam watches lightning flash nearby into the woods.
Jessica, Jeremy, and Blake appear by the edge of the forest. Jessica screams in sorrow. Her eyes land on her cousin, lying lifeless on the ground.
JESSICA
NO! No. No, no, no, no, no.
She collapses to her knees.
JESSICA
Not Erin.
Jeremy helps her to her feet, wrapping his broad arms around her as he holds her back, crying too.
JEREMY
Jessica. JESSICA! Calm down. It's okay. Everything is okay.
JESSICA
Erin's dead, and you'll tell me everything is OK?
She screams again, shoving Jeremy away. She races over, kneeling and trying to shake Erin awake, but he's lifeless and cold on this dark, rainy night.
JESSICA
Erin. ERIN! You big dummy. Wake up.
DANIEL
Jessica, he's gone.
She wraps her arms around Mr. Sanchez, and he rubs her back for comfort.
JEREMY
We need to move before the other vampires catch up.
Blake nods her head in agreement.
BLAKE
We have to go now. My dad has a safe house a couple of miles from the werewolf cabin we can stay in, but we have to make it quick.
Jessica nods.
JESSICA
We can't leave his corpse here. We have to take him with us.
DANIEL
We can't, Jessica. None of us are strong enough to carry him. Not even myself. If we take his body with us, it will slow us down.
JEREMY
I have the keys to the van Hannah took us in.
Jeremy pulls out a set of keys and points them to the big white van in the distance, watching it light up.
JEREMY
I can put his body in there and drive to the cabin or somewhere safe.
BLAKE
I'll go with him.
DANIEL
Great, for now, we have to go.
In the distance, hungry wolves howl to them as a warning. Jeremy grabs Erin's body and lugs it into the van.
BLAKE
Goodbye, Adam.
Blake walks to Adam, throwing her arms around him in a hug.
BLAKE
I love you.
ADAM
I love you too, Blake.
Her lips meet Adam's, his fangs pressed against her fangs, cutting him off mid-sentence, but he doesn't mind. Adam kisses her back as lightning explodes in the distance. She pulls away, wrapping him in one more big hug.
She melts into the hug, squeezing Adam tightly before she yanks away, wandering over to the big van in the distance while Jessica, the king, and Adam walk into the woods. They wave goodbye as the big van pulls away moments later.
INT. SCHOOL HALLWAY - MORNING
TIME-LAPSE - ONE YEAR LATER
Adam stands at his locker, throwing books inside. Erin walks through the hallway. His jet-black curls cover his sunglasses, but Adam knows that face anywhere. He watches him slam open the locker next to Adam's and digs through his bag, shoving his biology book into his locker.
Erin
Hey.
His eyes narrow on Adam's through the sunglasses as a smile creeps across his lips. He pulls off his sunglasses, hanging them on his shirt, revealing his blood-red eyes as he watches Adam.
Adam wraps his arms around Erin.
ADAM
You son of a bitch. Where the hell have you been?
Erin chuckles.
ERIN
Funny you should ask. I was watching you.
ADAM
We thought you were dead.
ERIN
Yep, dead as a doornail, but that's what Wiccans are for.
Their eyes draw to the hallway's corner. Jeremy and Blake watch Adam.
ADAM
Blake?
She chews on blood coated bubble gum.
BLAKE
Hey, Adam.
Blake and Jeremy walk. Blake pulls Adam into her, her lips pressed against Adam's, and their fangs bump in the middle of their kiss. Then her gum slips past her tongue into his mouth.
BLAKE
I missed you, Adam.
ADAM
I missed you too.
Adam smiles. She kisses him again, her lips melting against his as he slips the gum back into her mouth.
JEREMY
Hey, blue boy.
Jeremy waves at him as their eyes shift in his direction.
ADAM
Hey.
Erin slips his hand into Jeremy's hand.
ADAM
Are you two--
JEREMY
--Yes, Adam. We're dating.
Adam chuckles in disbelief.
ADAM
I didn't see that one coming.
ERIN
Me neither.
Jeremy leans over, pecking Erin on the forehead.
ADAM
Your father is going lose his shit when he finds out you're alive.
ERIN
I know.
Erin presses his lips together and sighs.
BLAKE
Any word on your sister's location? We haven't seen her since the incident.
ADAM
Nope. Just the usual serial killer vampires showing up out of the blue.
ERIN
How's--
Jessica appears at the end of the hallway.
JESSICA
--Erin?!
ERIN
Speak of the devil.
Jessica races down the corridor, dodging heavy traffic as she throws her arms around Erin. Erin hugs her back.
ERIN
Hey, Jessica.
JESSICA
You're alive. How?
ERIN
It's a very long story for another day.
Erin pulls out of the hug.
JESSICA
You smell like a vampire.
She disgustedly scrunches her nose.
ERIN
Yeah, I'm one of the undead now. A werewolf and vampire mutt. Who would have thought?
JESSICA
No?
She studies him as he smiles, showing two fangs poking out from his gums.
The overhead warning bell rings in the distance.
ERIN
We should probably run to class.
ADAM
Yeah.
JEREMY
I'll see you after school.
Jeremy's silver eyes lock with Erin, waiting for a response.
ERIN
Yeah, I'll see you then.
Blake slips her hand into Adam's, tugging him along.
BLAKE
Tell me what you've been doing while I was gone.
ADAM
It's a long story. But I can tell you after school.
BLAKE
Sure, I'd like that.
They walk along the hallway. Erin follows close behind.
ERIN
Wait for me!
Erin and Jessica jog up to them. Jeremy leaves the building while Erin, Blake, and Adam wander to class.
THE END.
