After a few long episodes we decided to take a break and grab a snack, and before we knew it we were making cinnamon rolls. He checked on the baking rolls as I swiftly mixed glazed frosting to top them with. Though my arm was tired, I baked fairly often and had decent stamina for the task. "Baxton wait!" I called out as he reached to grab a finished tray. My warning came a few moments too late, however, as he pulled his hand back with a curse.

"S***, that hurt," he hissed as he threw on a mitt and safely took out the tray.

"Run it under cold water," I advised, wanting to abandon the frosting to see how bad the burn was. "Are you okay?"

"I know; I'm fine. That's gonna be unpleasant later though," he grumbled as the water washed over his hand, thoroughly numbing it. I checked a nearby clock and realized the frosting was ready to set, so I set it on the table and walked over to him. Gazing down at his hand, I realized it was the same one he had bruised during archery. The bruise was large and clearly discolored, a dark and painful purple and blue that harshly contrasted the warm olive skin of his arm. My eyes trailed to the tips of his fingers, two of which were beginning to blossom ever so slightly red. I frowned at the sight and gingerly pressed the bruise, earning a surprised grunt of pain.

I let my fingers hold the back of his hand gently  but firmly as I looked. "It's fine, huh?" He looked away awkwardly and cleared his throat a little, trying to take his hand back from my grasp.

"Yeah, it looks worse than it is I promise," he responded, the words leaving him a little too quickly to be entirely true. I looked into his dark brown eyes, which avoided mine and danced around the room for any other subject of interest and distraction. "The frosting's done? We can finish the cinnamon rolls soon then! We should start to prepare a plate so you can take some home," he exclaimed as he walked out of my hold to grab the discarded frosting I had finished.

"I'm not fully letting this go.." I trailed off with a sigh before joining him in preparing the treats. Soon enough they were finished, drizzled in the frosting and still warm. We had split one and were talking about random, irrelevant things like how the play-through was going. The sky slowly darkened, and when I finally tore away my attention my phone had vibrated signaling that my mom was on her way to pick me up. Baxton joined me as I gathered my things from his room and the kitchen, and for a little while we just sat on our phones. It was then I remembered his injured hand, and decided to try something. "Hey Baxton?" I asked, tentative. "You have makeup right?"

"I mean I have some cosplay stuff," he looked at me, confused. "Why?"

"Put it on later," I told him, scooting closer to where he sat. "You'll know why then." He leaned away, confused and skeptical of my actions. "Why would I need to??"

"Trust me," I pleaded, holding his injured arm carefully. The burns were a solid red, despite the cool water from earlier, and the bruise was virtually unchanged. Baxton reluctantly nodded and watched me carefully as I shut my eyes, remembering the methods I had been using to try to gain healing abilities.

I recalled the recommendations for my thoughts to focus on from one of Baxton's experienced friends, Spell, who knew a lot in terms of magic. They had come indirectly as I had asked the person about their own experience and secretly taken mental note for later, and I doubted they would remember even sharing with me as it had been many months ago. I let my lids drop closed over my eyes as I focused on Baxton and the closeness I felt to him. A warm current of golden love flowed through me and made its way to him, and I felt its power seep in and push out the pain of the injuries. I felt them rapidly healing, and leaning forward like Spell had told me I kissed the palm of his hand an equal distance from both injuries.

Baxton looked at me in confusion as he took back his hand and I felt the golden power fade, leaving me weaker for using some of it. "Uhh I'm flattered Cavy but-"

"Don't worry, I know you're in a relationship and are more than happy there," I interrupted with a sigh. "It's not that kind of thing. Just remember, wear the makeup once you see why. You'll know what to cover." At that moment my mom arrived, and I picked up my bag and raced out of the house with a quick hug goodbye to a bewildered Baxton.
